Chicken Flautas

The service was excellent. I wish I could a gallon of the poblano sauce, it is absolutely mouth watering. My hubby got the chicken flautas and I got the chicken enchiladas. Both were delicious. The beans are better than any I've had before. The owner is the sweetest!

The Randall House in Pine, Arizona is a staple of history for this quaint town. Having been frequent visitors when it was a breakfast spot, I was sad to see it go, but wanted to give the new updated Mexican restaurant a good try. The decor is as it always was, simple and elegant. Have been a few times since they opened and have sat indoors and outdoors. I know it mentioned reservations required, but that is no longer the case. They also now have their liquor license, so you can enjoy a beverage with your meal. I usually am fond of tamales, but this last time I opted for the chicken sopes. They are divine! The best way to describe them is tostadas, but on a fried green corn base. Anytime I can have green corn, that is what I choose. I told them I will wait for their green corn tamale because I know it will burst with flavor. The desserts are a huge favorite from the grape pie, buttermilk pie, and flan. They ran out of the chocolate flan, so I am already looking forward to trying that on our next visit. Everyone was friendly, they would come by and talk. Spent a good deal of time with our waitress getting to know her. They are extremely family oriented which is important to us. It is really worth anyone's time around the area or even take a fun jaunt to get away from the valley to escape to this delicious retreat. We are really enjoying this new little restaurant ourselves, just writing this makes me crave another sope!

I came here once during a staycation up in Strawberry/Pine area. I had passed this place numerous times and decided to finally try it for breakfast one morning. While it is a really cute spot and has nice indoor/outdoor seating available plus a small bakery counter, unfortunately the food/flavor didn't quite deliver, but I would still recommend checking it out just for the atmosphere, service, and supporting local. When I went, I sat on the front porch and ordered a hot chocolate and a really simple traditional breakfast of fried eggs and sausage patties plus a side of pancakes. Hot chocolate is basically impossible to mess up, it was tasty and warmed me up! The eggs and sausage were pretty standard, not bad but nothing spectacular, and the pancakes were a bit dry, but nothing that a little butter and syrup couldn't fix/mask. My waitress was friendly and prompt and I still enjoyed my overall experience here; I may try some new places before returning, but if you are looking for a cute, quick, reasonably priced bite to start your day, this spot will get the job done.

La Casa Randall breathes life into a 100+ year old tradition and historic home built in the 1880s. The service is friendly and welcoming. The owner loves her food and her thriving new opportunity to serve authentic central Mexican cuisine with a grateful smile. Try the mole with the enchiladas, along with the poblano and chipotle sauces. The unique rice and the charro beans meld well with the enchiladas. The chips and homemade salsa are resoundingly delicious and the queso fundido with chorizo and corn tortillas delivered the taste bonanza! Make reservations if possible. The building and dining areas are a delight.

Simply delicious food! Unique flavors and a very comfortable setting. MUST HAVE specialty drink, "The Vampire." A unique and yummy margarita. The friendly and accommodating staff will make you feel at home.

This was my first visit after visiting Pine many times. I am sad to learn that it will be closing in January of 2023. Came w a friend and we both enjoyed a delightful brunch. Their specials were located on a board as you enter. The person I was with had the omelette special. I had the breakfast sammie with a croissant, ham, eggs and swiss. The croissant was warm and the fillings were cooked to perfection. The charm of the historic house was a nice way to spend a weekend brunch. I hope to return before they close and may purchase a few of the trinkets that are found around the restaurant.

It's a small, local business that has been turning out amazing food for decades. The croissant sandwiches are so good, the quiche is delicious, pancakes are lovely and I've never had a better pie. The mixed nut pie will truly bring your pie dreams to life! And yes...I did take slices to go The LOW STAR reviews are clearly from visitors who expect chain restaurant service. Go to Dennys in Payson if you want that. We've had a summer place up here for years and Barb and her food are fantastic. Don't be a poorly mannered traveler with metropolitan city service expectations. That's entitlement and impatience showing. It embarrasses the rest of us ;)

I had a nice breakfast here at the Randall House when I was staying in Pine one night. They have a few rooms inside the house that they seat you in or you can dine outdoors. The room I was in reminded me of a classroom. It had games, arts, crafts, and some toys that I haven't seen since I was a kid. It was fun and nostalgic and brought back some old memories. For food I ordered the Yoga Scramble and enjoyed it. They also have pastries and pies in the front where you pay. The Randall House serves both breakfast and lunch.

My wife and I spent a week in the Payson area and we wanted to enjoy some really good food, so the Old Country Inn was on our radar. Pine is a unique town with a lot of natural beauty, so we sat on the patio. The highway was busy, but that didn't matter because it was a gorgeous day. Our server Joyce was great. She made recommendations and helped us select the Burrata Pie based on her description. It did not disappoint. I wish I had taken a photo of the whole pizza before we ate the entire thing. Several things stood out. The crust is soooooo good. The char from the wood-fired oven was perfect. The pepperoni was also the best I've ever tried. Now add the dollops of Burrata Cheese, hot honey, fresh basil, and cracked pepper. Best. Pizza. Ever! I've enjoyed the numerous varieties of pizza that are available. And I've eaten at that famous one in Phoenix. Sorry, but I would choose the pie that requires a four-hour round trip over the local fav. Make the drive and you won't be disappointed! Located in the parking lot of an antiques store with bathrooms inside, "Western Village Antiques" to be precise. Should have ordered six for two people. My only recommendation: use double tortillas for each taco to reduce spillage and messiness. Otherwise, one can ask for a fork. Wife liked pork. I liked beef. Both were great. They were out of chocolate chip cookies. Darn. Strong Recommend.

We came by on a Monday -- their special chicken dinner day -- and ordered the chicken plate (fresh breast + thigh), with rice, beans, fresh corn tortillas, and both red and green salsas. We also grabbed two carnitas street tacos. The second I took a bite, I knew I was in trouble (the good kind). The chicken was perfectly seasoned, with a golden crust that had flavor in every crispy edge. And the carnitas tacos? Authentic, juicy, rich -- exactly what you want in a taco. We literally turned around right after finishing and ordered two more tacos. No shame. Took them to-go and ate them lakeside at Green Lake -- 10/10 vibes. The guys running the truck are genuinely kind-hearted and personable, which just makes the whole experience even better. Why tacos this good are in Payson, I have no idea... but I'm so glad they are. If you haven't tried Crne yet, what are you waiting for? Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-hit. Hands down, some of the best and freshest tacos I've ever had -- and that's coming from a Cali native. Will be coming back, again... and again... and again. Bonus tip: they serve Vegan options on Sundays!

They don't have quite the selection of the other place, but the food is very good. My only criticism would be. There was not much in the way of carrots left by the time we got there on Sunday and they put the guacamole on the chips instead of giving it to you on the side. So the chips got sort of soggy by the time we got home. I will definitely have the shrimp tacos again. It was delicious and my son was very pleased with his Carne Asada tacos with guacamole. We also had a Carne Asada quesadilla and the famous chips with the guacamole already on them. Everything tasted very good. The inside is not anything fancy, but there's a few seats and there's a salsa bar with really nice salsa, limes, and if you can go when they are not out of carrots, there are carrots. I wished that their pickled carrots had more garlic in them. So I guess that would be my second criticism or more of a suggestion. The people there are very nice and if you can find the place you should go.

The reason I rated so low is due to the Cons outweighing the pros!! Cons: in a matter of sitting at the bar for 5 minutes, I observed a bartender (Carol) that was incredibly rude to not just one but several other customers. She was verbally aggressive and makes it very clear that she does not enjoy her job or being around customers any longer (if ever). The attitude made the entire side of the bar extremely uncomfortable and everyone agreed that they will not be going back when passing back through. The owner should really look into the matter because she is single handily pushing the customers and profits out the door (if the owner is even concerned). She gets mad over the music selected from the juke box and does not think twice before making snarky comments to paying customers. The Cons are unfortunate and maybe something will change one day and we'll all be more excited to go back for great food and fun memories!
