This was my second option for new restaurant of the week after the first was completely packed and approximately 15 people waiting before me. Service was a tad bit slow compared to other restaurants in the area but nothing horrible. The place is colorful with murals everywhere, a bar separating the two dining rooms, 5 gaming machines and booths. There is no liquor here so no margarita for the full experience. I was given chips and salsa and I could feel the warmth from the basket. The chips were warm, slightly seasoned, crunchy with a nice corn flavor. The salsa scared me because it was green and creamy, more like a sauce. OMG was my first thought because it was flavorful with some heat so I ate more chips than I normally would. I ordered the carne a la tampiquena which is skirt with grilled onions/bell peppers with cheese enchiladas that comes with rice, beans and a salad. The plate looked amazing and popped with color. The rice was cooked perfectly. The beans were flavorful. The enchiladas were more like quesadillas dipped in enchilada sauce and flavorful also. I was asked if I wanted bread or tortillas which was silly because I didn't make the drive to a Mexican restaurant this far to Americanize the food, tortillas please. I used the tortillas to make skirt steak tacos with the grilled veggies which were tasty. The skirt steak was most likely marinated because it was flavorful and not as tough as I thought that it would be. Overall I was thinking when I was done that the food was flavorful and not in a fake salty seasoned way but actual flavor. Each review is different depending on the person and what experience that they had and my experience was good and I enjoyed the food. If the language barrier wasn't there I would have asked to buy some salsa to go.

It's been so long since I've had great food from a restaurant that was worth what I paid for it, and this place definitely delivers on that! Everything we ate was spectacular, the meats specifically were cooked incredibly well. They also have a variety of hot sauces on the table for you to mix and match with. Please come here if you're craving authentic Mexican food or food in general. Gracias por el servicio y buena comida.

We stopped here on a Sunday night. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away. I ordered a…read morestrawberry banana margarita and that was delicious! I ended up getting a second! For our entrees, I got the taco truck dinner with pork pivil as my meat of choice. The meat was juicy, tender and had lots of flavor! The pinto beans had a nice smoky flavor. My boyfriend got the queso chimichanga. It didn't come with rice and beans, as they are inside the chimichanga. We both agreed, the queso was a nice addition to the chimichanga. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu!

YUM! Cafe Corazon has mastered the large portions and perfectly seasoned food. Our three tacos for…read morethe taco truck dinner ($14) were chicken, chorizo and carnitas with the chorizo standing out amongst the three with better seasoning. The guacamole had a strong citrus flavor which I am a fan of and the salsa was complimentary! I would HIGHLY recommend the best burrito ($15) as they did not skimp on any ingredient, especially the flavorful pork pibil. My only qualm was that the rice was undercooked and slightly crunchy, but otherwise an affordable and tasty restaurant for a date night. The staff were friendly, service was fast (less than 10min to receive food after ordering) and the restaurant had bright and colorful furniture and decor which were true to theme.

It's Saturday and I'm thinking......Don Lucho!!!!!…read more The team has been up since late night roasting and boiling and creating the most amazing carnitas you will find in Milwaukee. Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support. For an incredible adventure and source of authentic carnitas, git yourself down to da south side ya day hair and ENJOY!!!!!!
