On our trip to Peru, we had a very long layover at the Miami airport. So we did some research, and this place seemed to be one of the best restaurants in the airport. So we showed up, got in line, and marveled at all of the deliciousness staring us in the face. Ambiance was that of a Latin American food court. A conga line of people ordering their meals, you gotta know a little Spanish to get through this line. But they're pretty much used to dealing with us gringos. Service was nice. All the workers were very friendly and attentive. Your table will be clean mere minutes after your food has been consumed. Make sure to carry some cash to tip the guy. And the food. Wow. I forgot what I ordered, but the pictures say a thousand words. Soft and tender rice with pigeon peas and crispy chunks of pork mixed in, very soft, sticky plantains as a side, and roasted pork so flavorful, with a jus left behind to sop up with the roll. Oh, so good. A visit here will probably be one that's short and sweet, but it will be delicious and memorable. Airport food, but it might as well have been home cooking. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in Miami airport ever again.

Pros: Ambiance was nice. Didn't feel like an airport restaurant. It was cozy and not designed to get you out of there in a hurry. It was cafeteria style counter service, but the people serving were very nice and really piled on the portions. I was appreciative. The food itself also very much better than I was expecting from an airport. It was even better than restaurant food. It tasted like home cooking. Very good. Cons: No real cons. The menu itself is hard to navigate, and if you keep saying yes to stuff, you'll end up with some unexpected upcharges, but they will be delicious upcharges. Tips: Get the rice that has pigeon peas and meat in it. That was the best thing we had that day. And if you like plantains, these were very very good as well.

On a Thursday around 7pm, there's a decent line that's consistently at the end of the cafeteria styled restaurant. Got the: - Pollo carretero $20.5: not bad! Drier than I would've liked, but nice roasted flavor, tho subtle. Got the moro rice (yum!) and mashed potatos (mid) - Churrasco $32.50: def liked this more. tender and good flavor. Got the yucca (cooked perfectly through) and plantains as sides. Both also very good! - Small CHicken Soup $5.25: noodles are kinda soggy, but it's like any other chicken noodle soup. - Guava Cheese PIe $6.75: strong guava flavor, but also dry and hard to swallow. I would get the churrasco again with the same sides, albeit the price. The rest I could pass on.

This La Carreta Restaurant is in the Miami International Airport in concourse D right by gate D39. I was flying out of MIA in the morning and wanted to grab a quick breakfast. There was a morning rush for flights and a lot of people came here to grab breakfast and some coffee. The line wasn't too long but the staff was okay for being up so early and the wait for food was super long. They unfortunately forgot my order making the wait time longer and it seemed that a lot of orders got mixed up. It's a busy airport, early in the morning, so I get it but overall experience was okay. I got the scrambled egg, hame and cheese sandwich (which came on a cuban bread) and a croqueta. Might not be the best place to grab a quick bite if you're in a rush.

Quick and easy spot for Cuban food while flying through miami international airport. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant has plenty of seating. I usually go for the Ropa Vieja with mashed potatoes and plantains. Super yummy!

Not a fancy place but the food is reasonably priced and fabulous. Loved the cuban sandwich and chicken and rice dish. Both were flavorful and delicious! If you dint want to wait an hour to get into Versailles this is a solid option. I would definitely dine here again and sample other entrees on their extensive menu.

Had a Cuban coffee, a pilot recommended it and it was delicious! He also recommended the guava and cheese pastry and it hit the spot! I got a key lime pie slice for bonus points since I'm in Miami! The service was great! Very kind ladies with a pleasant personality that is helpful! Thank you! It's a grab and go set up but it was clean and effortless system setup! Will definitely stop by the next time I'm in town!

Visiting Miami for the first time and was recommended to La Carreta by a local resident. We were a party of 5 on a Thursday evening and were sat right away. The family style dining made for a relaxed environment. The service staff was polite, attentive and even offered their favorite recommendations from the menu. The food was delicious! Very flavorful and authentic!

I recommend purchasing Cuban coffee here. This place has a variety of different types of coffees. This place is located on the first floor. This place has different types of pastries. The customer services is good here.

Authentic Cuban food with plenty of options along with good portions. You can take the food to go or grab a tray and sit at their tables. There's a bakery/coffee shop next to it. The people seemed joyful and happy to help. Below is the rating on the foods I tried: *Parcha/Passion Fruit Juice: 4/5 *Morro (rice and beans): 4/5 *Ropa Vieja: 4/5 *Yuca: 5/5 *Sopa de Pollo: 5/5 It gets pretty packed so make sure you grab your seat before you get your food.

Got off a 5 hour flight super hungry and came here to eat. I'm so glad I did! The food was fresh and delicious! Food was full of flavor. This is authentic Cuban food, loveee! Customer service is great here. I'd say this is one of the best food spots at the airport!

Great option inside the airport Terminal D for a quick fix of Cuban food. It's like an old school lunch counter where you choose your order from a buffet & they plate it or fix your to go box. I had the lechon (roast pork) & 2 sides - plantain & rice with black beans. It was a large portion & good value at $16.49.

There was literally dirt/mud at the bottom and I took my first bite and it felt like biting into sand. Upon spitting the food out onto my plate it was black sludge. When I was spitting out the dirt/mud wife noticed the bus boys laughing at me and there was not a manger in sight. When I asked for a manager he did not even respond. No apology or anything just a look of confusion. Worst experience in a restaurant in my life and I love to eat and have been to many types of restaurant big and small. Cheap and expensive and this one takes the cake. We were so bummed as I see thousands of great reviews. But if there was a zero I would have given zero stars the way they handled the situation. If you eat there in the future make sure to check for DIRT/MUD.

We left supremely happy with the salty and garlicky fat flavors lingering on our tastebuds, rejuvenated by a quick shot of velvety espresso, and capped off with the sweet guava and tangy queso crema shake (La Timba). For appetizers, the prawns al ajillo were delicious super flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was good, but not my favorite. It leaned a bit bland for my taste, even with the sauce. Now, the must-get: the carnitas with pickled onions. Easily one of the best dishes of the night so flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, we had the ribeye steak and arroz con pollo, plus sides of tostones and yuca. Everything here delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right not overly salty. The arroz con pollo was phenomenal, the kind of dish you could eat every single day. The tostones were crispy and tossed in garlic, which took the flavor to another level, and the yuca was melt-in-your-mouth good. I also ordered a mojito, which unfortunately was very watered down, I barely got any of that classic mojito flavor. Service overall was solid, especially considering how loud the restaurant gets it was honestly hard to hear each other at the table, so shoutout to our server for keeping everything straight. The appetizers came out quickly, back-to-back, which we loved. The only downside was the wait for the entrées they took quite a while after we finished the apps, even though we ordered everything at once. Overall, amazing food, great energy, and definitely worth going just be prepared for a lively (and loud) atmosphere.
