We were looking for a quick bite and stumbled across La Cambusa. We know the area of Cinque Terre is known for focaccia and pesto so I knew that's what I had to order. The worker heats up the item you pick out then you take it with you or eat at a few small tables outside. We took our focaccia pieces with us to the waterfront and enjoyed them with the view. The dough was perfectly springy and not too dense. The pesto had great fresh flavor. I'd definitely recommend for a quick bite!

    Front counter with focaccia.

Great for quick cheap bites. I got a mediterranean focaccia, Nutella croissant/ pastries.

Decent focaccia, pesto was way too salty though. Their pastries are disgusting. What was supposed to be soft puff pastry was actually rock hard... took a few rough sawings with a bread knife to actually make a dent in them. The cream inside was way way too sweet, didn't even taste of hazelnut (their intended flavour) but tasted like nutella but with three times as much sugar. This is a tourist trap, just don't go.

It's well worth visiting at the top of the hill for flavorful classic Italian food in Cinque Terre (for those in need of a break from the fish dishes offered by most restaurants). Their pizza list is quite extensive and ranges from Italian specialties to American favorites like chicken and peppers. I got the tuna pizza (never knew that was a thing) and it was really good. The cheese was the perfect consistency and very flavorful (ditto with the buffalo mozzerella appetizer we ordered). The tuna added a unique flavor to the pizza, though I wish there had been more of it added to the pizza. My wife got fresh made pasta and pesto that was also mixed with roasted potatoes (carbo load!). Although the pesto was delicious, the dish was too one-note. Without tomatoes or some other acidic side, the singular pesto flavor simply overwhelmed the pallet. Again, it was a good flavor, but it just needed something to break through the basil. I know this sounds crazy, but make sure you order the seltzer (or in Italy, fizzy) water. They make it in-house and it is hands down the best sparkling water I've ever had. It never lost its effervescence throughout the meal and really energized me. The service was just OK. They never served us the bread that went to other tables (not that we needed more bread, but it was still a somewhat strange oversight) and they rarely came by to see how we were doing. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the most hospitable either. All together, this meal left me smiling and satisfied!

I came inside and I was a little bummed out because there were flies all over the inside of the food heaters where they put all the fried seafood. I mean, a little contamination never hurt anyone... So I did end up getting what I intended to get. I mean, it's not every day I am in Italy. I was trying to savor the moment. Although there were flies all over the food area, the mixed cones were okay. I was more into the experience of being in another country and the beauty of this place itself. Try it because you're there... Don't expect the best, but you're in Italy! Do it.

The small little shop have very limited settings but the convenience of the way they are packaged, is easy to take away and eat. There are few choices of fried goodies and we got the combination of fries, calamari, octopus, and fish. The seasoning was flavorful and it is plenty to share if ordered the large for a little $ more. The focaccia pizza was delicious and it was also a nice decent amount. Best to share so you can try a variety of stuff. I think it can also be too much fried stuff if one person was to eat it.
