Our BnB was right next to this restaurant and this was our go-to place to grab breakfast every day that we were in Manarola. They have a ton of breakfast options like cornettos, lattes, eggs and pancakes. Their pistachio pancakes and chia pudding will make you salivate. Both came with fresh high quality berries. I love that their portion sizes for the pancakes are on the smaller side unlike the US. I also enjoyed their hot chocolate with a side of espresso (my favorite combination where mocha is unavailable lol). We also came in the evening once and seemed like it is a popular place to get an aperitif. Service is a bit slow but 10/10 would recommend. read more

I was a little confused how to go about ordering at Aristide. Turns out you sit to wait for service or you order at the counter if you're getting your items to go. My companion had a cornetto. I had a parfait and a peach liqueur, persichetto. The liqueur was a bit too strong and not peachy enough for me before 9 in the morning, but that was my choice to order a grown-up drink that early when I rarely drink late at night. This restaurant is incredible. We were in Manarola for the last few days and ate here the first night. Just came back for a 2nd dinner and are scheming how to come back again tomorrow. They know how to make pasta perfectly al dente. I LOVE vongole and the vongole here is OUTRAGEOUSLY delicious. I've tried a few of their pastas-- all yummy. mussels appetizer SO GOOD. Steak is solid. Tripadvisor and Google said Aristide opened at 8am, but their sign out front said 8:15am and that's when they actually opened. Stopped by for a quick breakfast before we had to catch our train. Delicious pastries (though not as good as Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre in Vernazza). The wait staff was wonderful, gave great recommendations, and always made sure we were taken care of. The squid and potato salad was amazing. We stopped here for lunch off a recommendation- and it was GREAT!!! Cute little restaurant in Manarola with several of "today's specials" that will make your mouth water. I tried the gnocchi with ragu sauce- and was pleasantly surprised with the large portion of homemade gnocchi (very soft, not dense). The service was really friendly and we enjoyed talking to the waiters. It was perfect weather and we sat outside and people watched (this restaurant is right after the tunnel when you get off the train from Riomaggiore). Bees did begin to fly around our plates which made me uncomfortable, but the staff was more than happy to move our seats inside. We are beginning to learn that good restaurants are really easy to find in this part of Italy. On arriving in Manarola, this was almost the first restaurant we encountered for lunch. They managed to seat us immediately (although they do take reservations). The dining room is completely open, so you get a nice breeze and are out of the sun. We spotted another table with cod fritters, and they looked and smelled amazing, so we started with those. They tasted even better and I highly recommend you start with them. For our main course, I got trofie with pesto. Trofie is the local pasta and the region is well known for its pesto. It was an amazing fresh taste. For a nice lunch, you can't go wrong and this was a great place to stop. read more

We ate brunch at Aristide before leaving Manarola (so sad!) on the train. We were quite happy with our food and service. The server was very busy and did not speak very fluent English. She seemed appreciative that we asked for the menus and ordered our food in Italian. She was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed cappuccinos at Aristide, and they were wonderful! Brunch was the vegetable omelette and the ham/cheese omelette. While I had been "warned" by other travel buffs that Italy is not known for cooking with eggs for breakfast, I think that warning is a myth. Both of our omelettes were wonderful! We received side dishes of mixed greens with the omelettes. Unfortunately, it was a tiny amount of greens and not anywhere the amount that would be considered a side salad. Walked in here by chance..after feeling so tired looking for Billy's trattoria and looking for food by the train station. Oh man, we were pleasantly surprised and the food was soooooo fresh!! I got the squid with lemon flavored potato and hubby for catch of the day (ahi). Both were melt in the mouth fresh and flavored so well! I don't regret not going to Billy's at all. We weren't super hungry for dinner so we walked down this restaurant and ordered a half liter of house white wine, mussels, octopus salad and finished with pannacotta. Another waitress first brought out red wine and we had to correct her to white wine. The mussels were supposed to be marinara, but they came out in basically a butter and lemon jus. The only "marinara" I saw were a few diced tomatoes. We didn't care so we ate it anyway. We had mussels the night before at il Porticciolo and they were much superior. The octopus salad was bland although the octopus was delicately cooked. This dish was much tastier at Cappun Magro, up the road. The pannacotta was okay. I honestly haven't had enough to compare it to. However; the service left much to be desired. Although the service wasn't slow like almost all restaurants are in Italy, the staff seemed annoyed to be serving. The location is not the best. There is no view. The local kids come out around 9 and play soccer in the square next to the outdoor seating, so it can get quite rowdy. read more

And the strawberry & cream tart - SO good!! Check out my pictures to see them. The atmosphere is incredible! Favorite dining experience in Italy! My three companions and I ate upstairs in the restaurant portion of Aristide. The service at this family operated restaurant was welcoming and accomodating. Myself and two other girls split the fish of the day, sea bass (€50), and it melted in our mouths. We enjoyed watching our server prepare the fish table side. We also split the salad and roasted vegetables (€5/each). The salad was pretty basic, but the vegetables were very good. My third companion had the calamari and shrimp which she also greatly enjoyed. Of course we had a few bottles of the house white as well. The strawberry and creme tart (€5) was simple and delicious! The service was quality and the food was fresh and authentic. Wonderful pesto gnocchi! I think it'll be one of those dishes I'll never forget!! The mussels, pasta and calamari were lovely. Service was friendly as well. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone. After a long train ride with a food cart that never appeared, we arrived at our destination, Manarola?'c with our teen kids who were moody from hunger. As we walked out of the train tunnel, Aristide was the first spot we encountered in Manarola. We went in immediately, not bothering to look around for other options, knowing that if we delayed much longer our kids would probably have us for lunch, all the while we were certain it would be a tourist trap restaurant with mediocre food...BUT we were wrong and pleasantly surprised!! Aristide has two locations close to each other. One is a gazebo type structure (with clear plastic windows that can open or close depending on the weather) on the square, which has their larger menu. The other is on the street, and has only their daily specials and their coffee shop. We went to BOTH on our trip ... and we were not disappointed. Our first night in Manarola, we actually passed by the restaurant on the square, unsure if it was open (it was late evening, and the tourist season was basically ended.) We ended up at the restaurant on the street, and were greeted by the lady, who explained to us the difference. Back to the restaurant on the square we went, since we wanted the more traditional menu offering the regional specialties. And man-o-man. On the square, we were greet and served by Mattia (spelling?). Super friendly, explaining to us the menu, and the regional specialties, and recommending other things to see in Cinque Terre if we had time. Alas ... the food. We started with a bottle of their local white wine. Wonderful good stuff. Then we had the Trofie pasta with pesto and green beans (mixed in). So this pasta is a regional specialty, here - freshly made, and Cinque Terre is the birthplace of pesto. The pesto I've had before is heavy, and salty ... probably from an imbalance of too much parmesan cheese and not enough pine nuts ... and too much of both compared to the basil. but THIS pesto ... was light, and fresh, and not bogged down. This dish was simple, elegant, and beautiful. Then we had the grilled ricciola (Amberjack, or yellowtail). Quite a large, super thick filet of beautifully grilled fish. Also ... quite simple, with a little oil and salt, served with seasonal vegetables. And dessert! The semifreddo with caramel, Peanuts and sliced fruit was A-MA-ZING. Very tasty, but also not too heavy. Mattia also surprised us with some limoncello made from the lemons that we could see growing on the hillside all around. We stopped in at the restaurant on the street (not the square) the next morning for coffee / cappucino before heading out. Also tasty. DO NOT MISS DA ARISTIDE ON YOUR TRIP! read more

Our secondi was grilled octopus in a potato lemon creme sauce that was incredibly delicious. Enjoyed a local Cinque Terre white wine from the region with the meal, paired fantastically with the pasta and fish and was very well priced. Aristide has wonderful decor and great service. Delicious food. We had lunch outdoors even though it was pouring rain. They have a giant plastic tent which doesn't sound so comfortable but it was. View of the water, and you can people watch while you dine. I had grilled octopus, my husband had seafood spaghetti. Wonderful white wine made in Cinque Terre (something Bastia?). The servers were very nice and helpful with the menu even though they were extremely busy. And after our meal they were so nice to bring limoncello and biscotti. The service would be considered slow in the US but I never ate in a nice restaurant in Italy (not a bar or trattoria) that they didn't give you plenty of time to sit and talk (and rest). We were SO glad we came here for dinner on our last night in Cinque Terre. After a 10 mile hike from Manarola to Monterosso (the road from Riomaggiore to Manarola was closed) our legs were aching and our stomachs were crying for food. Our original plan was to eat at Trattoria dal Billy, however we didn't make reservations there. After being shut off with rude and dirty looks from Tratorria dal Billy for not having reservations we were disappointed, helpless and hangry. Aristide changed our entire evening that night. It was 940PM, their outdoor seating was packed with people. We asked if we could be seated for two, they told us the kitchen closes at 10PM but they would seat us inside since the outdoor patio was closed. After 5mins, our waiter kindly let us know that there was an outside table for two open and we could be seated outside where there was more action and people watching. We were thrilled! It was my first time trying anchovies, black ink pasta, and pesto pasta in Cinque Terre. Some of the anchovies on the plate were on the saltier side. The black ink pasta with fish was pretty good but I've had better in Venice. The pesto pasta was decent but lacked flavor. At 1115PM, we were the last to leave; the waiter didn't rush us out as they were cleaning up. 5 Stars for the friendly service and 4 Stars for the food =) read more

Favorite meal in all of Cinque Terre! Everything we had tasted amazing and the prices were also very good. Would definitely go back again and recommend to friends! Rudest waiter I've ever had, in Italy or otherwise. We discovered this place after we'd already eaten lunch, so when we stumbled on this place we decided to have drinks, coffee and desert here. When I told the waiter I was ordering the limoncino, he told me it was a digestif and is usually served after meals, which is fine, but I explained that since we had already had lunch we'd be ordering it up front. He then yanked the menu out of my hand and said "no, you go to a bar", before I had even finished ordering. He then looked around and noticed that 10 of his 13 tables were empty (can't imagine why, with service like this), and said "but for you, just this time" he then proceeded to grumble about people eating in one place and having drinks in another throughout our ordering process. After he brought us the deserts, coffees, and drinks, he spent the rest of our time there shooting me dirty glances while he was cleaning tables. I highly recommend if you're a tourist that you spare yourself the condescension by getting your food and drinks ANYWHERE else. read more

Came here for a quick lunch in Manarola after deciding we were too lazy/hot to walk up and find Billy, which was also recommended by Rick Steves. Ordered an anchovy pizza and octopus/potato salad. The pizza was a little thin but the salad made up for it - like all the other restaurants in Cinque Terre, the octopus was so tender. We were seated outside; the waiter came to take our order without any greeting or smile. After our entrées arrived, I asked multiple times for a condiment to supplement our meal and was given lip service but never received anything. After waiting 15 minutes for the check, the waitress acknowledged her mistake and apologized. The staff were standoffish and unfriendly. The pastries tasted stale and were not that great, but I wasn't super impressed by any of the pastries we had in Italy. The coffee was fine but nothing special. One of our favorite dining experiences in Italy! My wife and I stayed at a b&b across from the cafe during our stay in Manarola and frequented Aristide in the morning for breakfast. We loved the pastries and still crave them now that we're back in the states! We also had the chance to try them out for dinner and weren't disappointed. The restaurant is situated near the town's square and if you're lucky, you'll get to see the local kids come out and kick a soccer ball around during dinner. I would highly recommend the seafood risotto. The curry was delicious and the seafood was top notch! I give it a 4 star instead of 5 because my dish was more shell than food. My wife also ordered risotto and hers had much more seafood, so I guess it is kind of inconsistent and you just have to get lucky.
