Had dinner upstairs at the restaurant on a rainy Tuesday night in May. Like most proper restaurant meals I've had in the 5 Terre, decent and mediocre; it's a tourist economy--decidedly not a foodie destination. The dishes here were hit-or-miss. House-made trofie were beautifully al dente (though this is far from rare anywhere in Italy) and tossed in an elegantly seasoned pesto; the under-seasoned octopus potato salad would have been lovely but for the mushy octopus; and sadly, the seafood appetizer platter was inedibly salty. We did enjoy the hell out of the house white wine. Service was predictably friendly, impersonal, and leisurely. Overall, perfectly nice choice for a wine and simple pasta dinner. read more

Manarola was home base, and this was the place where we had a coffee or beer to kill time waiting on a train or bus. Couldn't ask for a better place. Alot of foot traffic and it's busy all the time, but the service was still excellent and the coffee was better than anything in America. We had breakfast here and it was awesome too. There's just not much more to say. It's just another Italian cafe that puts most US restaurants to shame. read more

Aristides is a very nice restaurant that has a lovely outside restaurant with ample seating. The food was yummy and the service was ok. Our party of 9 had basically vacated the premises due to it taking forever to pay for our food. We finally got the bill and left! All in all it was a good experience and I recommend it. read more

The food and service here were excellent. We stayed in Manarola for 4 days and went here for breakfast everyday. They had both smaller and cheaper options like pastries as well as larger options such as eggs. We also came here for dinner and despite the fact that it was a very busy night and we didn't have reservations, they found a way to work us in quick. The food was so delicious we decided to come back again on a less busy night. I would very much recommend this restaurant to anyone as the food was delicious and the service was amazing. read more

This one missed the mark for me. There was a 2 Euro cover/bread charge per person and the bread was just okay. We ordered the house red wine, which was delicious. Additionally, we ordered the stuffed mussels, bass stuffed ravioli with lobster sauce, and a mixed salad. Our waiter was kinda a turd. Not very friendly. The stuffed mussels were excellent -a must try. The bass stuffed ravioli with lobster sauce was despicable. There were pieces of lobster in the ravioli and was overall extremely messy to pick the shells apart with the red sauce surrounding it. Ravioli was not prepared fully in our opinion and they skimped on the stuffing. The last point I'll make is they served our salad to us after we finished dinner (we thought they must've forgotten). Crispy fresh pastries and know how to make a DOUBLE cappuccino. I've had trouble getting this throughout Italy. I had the pistachio croissant which was large and filled with sweet pistachio. Fresh fruit and yogurt is creamy and delicious! Love this place in Manarola! read more

Best meal we had in Italy. Just go order the fish ravioli with shrimp in a light tomato sauce. So light and fresh. Not fishy at all. We ate there twice for dinner and had coffee and pastries in the cafe every morning. I will dream of going back to Manarola just for Aristide. read more

Three curt and unfriendly encounters with staff before we a waiter who showed us to a table (they were busy but that's not really relevant). Our waitress was quite friendly though. We ate here for lunch at the downstairs cafe (there is a more upscale cafe up the road). We ordered three pizzas--margherita, salami and veggie (eggplant, pepper and zucchini). All three were great but the veggie was the best which surprised us. If you like spicy, ask for their spicy oil. We also ordered one salad which is the only salad that had chicken on it and it was very fresh and good. No dressing besides olive oil and vinegar per usual but the tomatoes, lettuce and chicken were all great. Fun outdoor seating with a clean bathroom. Staff was friendly and nice. Enjoyed dinner here our first night in Manarola. We sat in the outside terrace. The servers were very busy so they were hard to get ahold of but the food was amazing and a great value for money. This was my favorite restaurant in Manarola. I would return here in a heartbeat. read more

I specifically downloaded yelp just to review this restaurant because it was so awful. Our waitress was so crabby, the wine tasted like grape juice and our food was not good at all. My mom had the steak and it had so much fat on it. My mom is the nicest human alive and was so offended by the waitress. Their credit card machine wasn't working and we tried all of our cards and the waitress was irritated with us. She finally tried another machine after 30 minutes and it worked. Would never recommend or eat at again. Thoroughly disappointed to say the least read more

We stayed in Manarola 3 nights and ate at 3 different restaurants for dinner. This place pleasantly surprised us! The service and the food was exceptional! My husband and I split everything - the warm octopus salad, trofie with pesto, potatoes and green beans, stuffed anchovies (AMAZING!) and panna cotta with strawberries. Not to mention - a half bottle of wine & sparkling water. How did the bill only come out for 53,50€?! I would eat here every night and order something different if I could do it over again. The staff are all so friendly and happy to accommodate you as well. Walk-in and make reservations in advance. You'll be warmly received. Just a tip- I think the best seats are outside in the covered patio around the corner or directly in front of the restaurant. Enjoy! read more

The moment the server sits you down you may as well order and ask for the check right then and there if you really decide you want to try this place. I'd suggest choosing another restaurant though. This place is unbelievably slow and it's not like the food compensates for the terrible service. The first time we came here we waited for the server to take our order for almost 30 minutes and just left for another restaurant. We returned another day trying to give it another chance. Worst possible decision we could've made. Once again we were made to wait to order even after attempting to flag down our waiter multiple times. After finally receiving our food it was such a let down. The bread was stale and clearly left out too long. The gnocchi was way too over cooked and our squid was also a little too dry. Everything was subpar. Don't let the cute patio seating deceive you. Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your meal. read more

Our first meal in Manarola was amazing! The Calamari came with the most delicious mixture of vinegar and sugar on the side. The Sea Bass was perfectly grilled. The service was excellent!
