Banda didn't get there until like 12:30am or later keep in mind they say they close at 1:45 by this time we where leaving $30 for entrance music sucked they had reggeaton playing in both rooms. The waitress seemed like she didn't care about me as customer, this was the very first time I came by myself but money is money, right? Never checked on me if I needed something else. I am extremely happy that I didn't look this place on Yelp before I stopped by or I might have not came to the best Mexican Marisco place in the entire bay. I can't stress to you how authentic this place is. I was blown away at the fact I felt like I was in Nayarit, Mexico! This is exactly how mariscos (seafood) Mexican style should taste. We walked in not knowing what to expect but we saw, plenty of people at different tables with their buckets of beer, margaritas, bucanas with pineapple, and the mariachi was playing! Me and my lady where definitely about to stay! Grabbed 2 seats at the bar and where greeted right away, we ordered mineral water with tequila and lime. Bartender was very friendly she hooked us up with fresh homemade chips, a very tasty salsa, and a seafood caldo with mussels. So many traditional marisco choices on the menu I was in heaven. I didn't know if I wanted camarones a la diabla, coctel de camaron, oysters, shrimp fajitas, camarones a la mommia (wrapped in bacon), and I could go on and on! The prices where crazy cheap compared to El Rancho next door or most marisco places near by. I agree with Andrew - this place has a lot of potential! We were greeted by a very friendly man - great start! Although Andrew thinks the decor is 80's, I have to disagree with him. I think it has a modern feel to it. The colors are great, and the bar with the little overhang is cute, and the photos on canvas are awesome! Also, they have a nice fireplace should it get cold. But when the warmer weather rolls around, I suggest getting a seat in their patio area. The food is average, the special mojitos are a little too sweet for my taste (although Mikie loved 'em), and the service was a little slow in terms for waiting for our check. Always come here for dancing. Not sure why it doesn't list this place for dancing too. It's awesome because they will have 2 rooms. One for Cumbia and Banda. And another room for salsa and merengue. We decided to try La Cabana because I had a coupon for buy 1 buffet get 1 buffet half off. We came for dinner. The buffet table had beans, rice, cheese enchiladas, corn and zucchini, pork chile verde, mole, carnitas, beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas, seafood soup, and chicken soup. The chilled side of the buffet had a small salad bar, fruits, and assorted desserts such as rice pudding, fruit salad and flan. It seemed that some of the food was sitting out for a while. But overall, the food tasted authentic and flavorful. The tortillas were fresh and tasted home-made. Price of buffet was decent - $9.99 each for dinner. read more

Being the only white folk in the establishment and being bandana-eyed by the vatos kickin it inside did not make any of us feel welcome. Whatever, I grew up in Richmond - I wasnt bowing down! We ordered a round and a very nice bartender brought our drinks out. She handed me my margarita and said "not strong for the lady" - I said "HUH"? Oh, I like my drinks strong. And I tell her that. She told me to try it and walked back inside. My husband immediately switched his drink with mine thinking that perhaps since he was a man, his was stronger - no dice. The entire round tasted like lime-aid. That is the enough to warrant the request of our tab and an exit stage left. A group of us went for lunch buffet at $9. and it was excellent. They had a good selection of rice, beans, chicken, pork, and other foods, and I especially enjoyed their pork ribs that day. 2 choices of soup, and many choices for salad, fruits and dessert. Tortillas served with buffet lunch. The only thing was the shrimp at the buffet was overcooked, otherwise, a great value for such delicious food. I went to eat barbacoa with a friend, and I do admit it was kinda late for that cause it was 1pm. However the waitress took out order, he didn't ask for barbacoa he wanted mariscos. So the lady took our order and did not check first to see if they still had some barbacoa, when I asked she said they did. So after about 10-15 minutes she comes back with my homies food but telling me that there isn't any barbacoa anymore and offered something else. I understand it was late and they runout, but it was her duty to advise that they were out before I ordered, not make me wait and have to stay regardless because she had already brought my friends food. We went to this restaurant having heard advertisements for it on the radio. Came on to check out reviews for it and following indications that this restaurant was under new management we thought we would give it a try. We walked in to the restaurant with no one to greet us. We were waiting around the lobby/entrance to see if we needed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves and no one came to assist us. My husband had to walk over to the bar and asked the bar tender what the routine was. A while after we asked we were told to seat ourselves wherever we liked. It took a while to get our drinks (a Coke and a Corona)...our chips didn't come until after the 3rd time we asked for them. While we waited for our food, a party that was seated close to us got up and left because their food was taking forever to be served. After ordering our food, it took them 30 minutes to get it to us (there were only 3 other patrons in the restaurant). In all honesty the food was good but I wouldn't go back there because of their customer service. this travesty of a restaurant deserves less than 1 star! went there with family (about 10 of us) for dinner. they had mostly a bar crowd for the fight, but we were the only customers in the restaurant section of the place making a food order. first the salsa tasted like some watered down picante sauce--should have walked out then--secondly, waitress brought out cups for water carrying them with her hand over the tops of the cups--blank stare! lastly, 4 people in our party never received their food--two plates arrived bone cold and were sent back. at this point the cook/chef comes out to ask if everything is ok--um...NO. so he says he'll give us 25% off the bill, which was fine, but when we did get the bill, they had charged us for the 4 plates of food that never came, plus the two cold plates of food that were sent back. i've eaten at a lot of restaurants in my time and unfortunately, i have to rate this as one of the worse restaurant experiences of my life. really. i will never, ever come here again and will advise anyone that mentions it, to stay away. read more

I go there for there lunch buffet which is only $6.99. There is always something new to eat and it doesn't taste like that fake mexican food you would find at Taco Bell. I take 1 star away cuz of the decorations. There creative, by instead of going to the recycle area to get rid of there glass bottles, they use them as vases on each table. If I could give zero stars, I would. There is zero organization in this restaurant. Everyone is running around with no clue of what to do. We were given the wrong order. The waiter nor the woman of the restaurant , did anything about it. Both said hold on and went away. We proceeded to eat. We finished our meal and asked for the check. No one came to give us the check. We headed to the front. Had to wait even more while the lady sat people and paid another person's bill at the same time. Such a waste of time. The wrong order of food was not worth it. We told the lady everything that went wrong with our meal : food given in the wrong order, wrong meal, slow service, the fact that she didn't so anything when we told her midway through our meal, etc. She said "oh, why didn't you tell me " in regards to all the other aspects of our experience. Even though we did stop her to tell her about our meal and she did nothing about THAT. I paid my bill and left. I do not plan on ever going back.
