Beautiful place but the place doesn't have decent restrooms!! They have no electricity, and they are dirty, so I recommend u use the ones in the restaurants there. Food, a little expensive for mexico but it's a touristic place, so..... parking 3 dlls all day. read more

I was really skeptical to come here. I drove 2 hours down to see this place in the morning. Everything was great though. The drive down was beautiful. The actual alley was really cool. But the blowhole was something else. I didn't think it would be that cool, but hearing, feeling, seeing, the water. Nature is scary. I haven't felt or thought that many times, but I was in awe here. If you're debating about coming here, just do it. read more

It's definitely overhyped, I think it wouldn't be expensive to make one somewhere artificially. The day we visited the water doesn't shoot very high, you can see it in the reversed side. read more

We visited the area as a part of a tour. The blowhole was pretty quiet at the time, but nice views. We stopped in several shops at the flea market and bought a piece of silver jewelry at one of the shops. Did a good bit of negotiation and got the price down about 50%. So we purchased by credit card. The card was run twice. The sales guy said the first machine was broken and got a second. I had a chip card, so I was not really worried. Somehow he got around that? Take Pesos with you. And, negotiate in Pesos! The conversion rate they use is not very close and the charge is done in Pesos at a rate that added 20%. All in all, just stay downtown.... read more

The views are awesome and the blow hole itself is really neat to see. I'd give the natural part 5 stars. The pushy vendors kind of ruin the experience though! Park in the last parking lot to avoid the majority of them. That or maybe take a bike or skateboard and ride past them. A lot of the stuff they sell might be awkward if you're taking kids (or your parents) with you. lol I don't like pushy vendors, so I probably won't go back anytime soon. It was neat to see though. Glad I went. We got there at just the right time and it was nearly empty. Several tour buses pulled in right as we were leaving. I wanted to add to my review after reading others... the bathrooms were 50 cents to use and they do give you toilet paper. The mens room was clean and not busy. The drive out there is really nice. There are nice views once you get close to La Bufadora. It's not very far from the main area of Ensenada. There wasn't much traffic (early April 2022). read more

This place is a must visit for the blow hole but my experience with the clams at the end of the flea market was the reason this Is 1 star. I was standing near the bbq and I hear a popping sound and then my shirt has a hole and my chest has a blister. Not safe to stand close by. The Pharmacy is not any kind of deal. You pay the same here with with no rx. If you don't have a rx then you're getting no deals. If you have a rx it is healer at home. You have to pay 50 cents to use the restrooms. Really... There are so many vendors with the same things... why? read more

The view is amazing and the blow hole is also super cool. There's just too many shops and they people don't really allow you to enjoy the walk down to the blow hole. It's a place that should be family friendly but there are bags and a lot of alcohol. If you ignore it though and make it to the bottom you'll be glad you went. The drive from Ensenada was about 35 minutes, it wasn't that bad. Curved windy road but not bad at all. Again the view was great, I'd come back. read more

Very beautiful would have given 5 stars if it weren't for all the vendors trying to sell you stuff. I'm as white as they come don't speak much Spanish so I get harassing me but my bf on the other hand is Mexican and proud of it as he should be but he told me we will never go here again due to the insane abound of harassment. The line we heard over and over again was oh you speak Spanish better price then and then they would tell him jokes in Spanish like we won't rip you off as much. But when you can't walk by without these people stepping out in front of you and saying the same thing over and over again it gets hard to say let's go there. It does have amazing views so go once but this was our 2nd time there together last time was 2008 and it wasn't this bad. And now this will be our last sadly read more

My coworker and I went on the California Costal Cruise on Princess Cruise Line. We choose to book the La Bufadora tour because who doesn't want to see a blowhole! Plus the tour was only like $15. The buss ride to the tour area was long but interesting. I think we did a little off-roading due to the roads being kinda washed out by recent rains. Our tour guide was very informative. She was native to the area and had lots of fun facts and stories to tell. We were one of the first tour busses to arrive and got an almost private viewing of the landmark. La Bufadora is technically a marine geyser but everyone calls it a blowhole. It is located on the Punta Banda Peninsula in Baja California, Mexico. My friend and I took tons of pictures and enjoyed the view. You have to be patient for the big geyser because the waves don't make it blow big every time. 5 minutes later when you are tired of looking at the blowhole, you start walking back to the buss. The guide gives you a time limit of approximately 90 minutes. On the way back there is approximately one mile of dirt street filled to the brim with venders. Everything from authentic foods , candies, clothing , blankets, and any type of souvenir you can think of. They are willing to barter. The venders are extremely aggressive and try super hard to get you in there store. This is a little annoying. They don't take no thank you for an answer. There is a nice taco shop by where the busses park. My friend and I both had fish, pork, and beef tacos. Very good. This was a fun very inexpensive adventure. read more

If you've never seen a blowhole, it might be worth the trip. We drove an hour & half from north to take a look, and were underwhelmed. I'm giving three stars, because it's nature, and nature's always cool. Also the coastline and the drive up the peninsula was beautiful. It might be more impressive when the sea is rougher and the waves are bigger (it was during high tide). The spray was nice but nothing I haven't seen on the Oregon coast, without the Carnival Cruise crowds. The alleyway leading to it, with lots of pushy vendors, makes the experience less enjoyable. I realize it's a good opportunity for them, but I'm used to seeing and being able to appreciate nature without so much commercialism. read more

LOVED THIS EXCURSION on our recent vacation to Ensenada. I would definitely recommend coming here for the experience and perhaps to cross off something on your bucket list. The blowhole is a great site... and really is a once in a lifetime opportunity, as there are only 3 of these geysers in the entire world. The shopping is something else. Be wise and know that there is always a better deal, but in the same breath... know that these people need to make a living. If they ask $35 for a purse, know you can really get it for $10-$15. If they say they want $25 for 3 t-shirts... know you can get them for $15. Make sure you bring LOTS of cash and try to buy small items from the little kids walking the streets. The country (like ours) is in a high drought, so they charge to use the restroom. Our tour guide was telling us that some days, all the running water gets shut off, as a last ditch effort to ration. So sad. For sure come here. read more

We visited on a day trip and it was so much fun! The amount of food offered is impressive and the amount of shops on the way in are as well. If you like tamales you'll be set! The Bufadora is so exciting yet relaxing. Looking down from a protective wall into the oceans colors is mesmerizing and then the water blows up into the air with such force it's amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed it. And I can't Forget to mention the scenic drive going there is so beautiful you passed so many beautiful places. read more

If you visit here with a tour group: you 100% do not need to stay with your guide, just be back to your bus at the time and place they ask. You will not get lost. You follow the path to the blow hole & that's it. Your guide is going to waste your time stopping at different vendors they probably get kickbacks from. Every vendor is selling the same junk. If you stop for a pineapple drink and you want alcohol in it, have them make yours from scratch and be sure that they put alcohol. Otherwise, all you'll get is a smoothie. The taco place the guide recommended to eat from (Yellow aprons) was not good at all. Don't waste your time stopping for samples of anything. The only thing I would buy here is churros. Everything is a rip-off from the food to goods and if you use a card, be prepared for a minimum 16% fee tacked on. If you are coming here from a cruise port, there is nothing here you can't find closer to the port with less nagging, so visit the blow-hole for some pictures and spend your money elsewhere. read more

This area of town is kind of cool if you're just looking to do something a little touristy and pick up some knick knacks, but it isn't worth it to come to La Bufadora just to see the "geyser". It's really just a little bit of water that splashes out of a small crack in a rock cave at the edge of a hill. There's a viewpoint just prior to the entrance to this little area that is beautiful and totally worth visiting. There are lots of little shops selling clothing, trinkets, sweets, etc., along with tourist attractions such as interesting wild animals that you can see up close and pet... you'll see everything from monkeys to lion cubs here. If you're tired of the big city atmosphere of Ensenada you can come out here, have a nice view of the ocean, and grab a little snack. read more

I really love La Bufadora. I've been here many times and never get sick of it. Did a camping trip a couple months ago and this was our last stop. It was kind of vacant compared to usual. Either way it's fun. Eat at a stand. The restaurants are overpriced for Mexico. The goods are unique and cheap and I love to bargain just for the fun of it. Got a pair of rad flip flops for $7. Got an awesome piece of art for my kitchen too! $12. My friend got a couple pairs of sunglasses. $15. If you're down in Ensenada/estero beach, stop by! It's only about 25mjns away. read more

Unsure which "La Bufadora" Yelp is gonna keep up on the site, so here's a copy and paste job of my other La Bufadora review: This review is written with the memories of my childhood battling what I witnessed on my recent visit, in order to give you a good perspective on what La Bufadora is (or has become). As a child, I remember driving along the beautiful Baja coast, around mountains and hillsides. Eventually, we'd park the car and walk all the way down dirt roads to La Bufadora, meeting a few vendors along the way. The vendors sold seemingly unique trinkets to take home with you after your visit, my favorite being these little, hand blown animals attached to long straw-like pieces of glass (think of a cocktail swizzle stick stirrer). Not anymore.... You'll still drive along the coast and around the mountains and hillsides, but the path to La Bufadora won't be a dirt road, the vendors will be plentiful, and you'll encounter a few unruly tourists while trying to take in the sight of North America's largest "blowhole" (La Bufadora). While you walk down to La Bufadora, you'll have to get passed a vendor lined street, selling everything from candy, belts, toys, piggy banks, shirts and of course, food. The smoked clams here seemed to be the biggest seller, and major attraction for tourists. To see the seemingly endless street vendors kind of kills the magic of seeing one of nature's wonders. I can't blame the locals for trying to make some money, but I just don't want you to feel like you'll be experiencing nature at it's purest when you visit (as I mostly did as a child). The blowhole will blow about once every minute or so, to varying degrees - sometimes, you'll get a little mist, other times, the water will shoot out above your head and get you plenty wet. My issue is, once the tourists experience a "good" eruption, they don't allow anyone else to come in and experience it for themselves (don't be like these people). Since what it has become has begun to ruin the memories of my childhood, I have no choice but to now rate this tourist spot as "A-OK". YELP TIP: If you want an incredible view of La Bufadora from overhead, stop by "El Mirador" Camping Ground right before La Bufadora. $2.00 allows you to park and take in the views (or camp overnight if you'd like). If you decide to camp, please don't litter, like so many people seem to do. read more

There are countless numbers of store fronts that line the entrance to La Bufadora. Each one selling a little nick nack of sorts. Alot of counterfeit goods as well. I saw quite a large array of Michael Kors purses. What was slightly disturbing that I saw was that one store had baby lion cubs in a large fish tank. Not sure what they were promoting as I ended up walking by it as I was ushered back to our cars so we can get a head start on the next leg of our journey. With that said la bufadora is quite a sight to look at. It's interesting how these things work. The tides pulling in and out filling the crevice until it literally just shoots out. If you're adventurous you can do as the kids and climb up to where the water sprays. The scenery is a spectacle no matter where you look. It's all coast lines and there a rock formations here and there. read more

A nice excursion out to Ensenada! There is a taco ship right as you enter, definitely need to try it. Their Carne Asada taco was delicious! It was a nice stroll down to the Blow Hole...lots to see. There are many vendors here trying to sell their goods. If you don't want to bargain for their goods, just keep walking, but if you do make sure you BARGAIN to get the best price. The end of the line is where the Blow Hole is and it is quite amazing. Get close enough and you will get some sea water splashed on you. This place is a blow hole!!!! Pretty cool and unique, with only 3 in the whole world - this one is in Ensenada, Mexico. The actual landmark, the blow hole, is awesome. I really enjoyed seeing that and I got some great photos. However, you have to walk up an almost mile long flea market to get to the blow hole and the vendors are constantly shouting for your attention. That entire experience was uncomfortable and I felt pressured. I wasn't really prepared for that. It was especially hard because I was with my Mom, who likes to stop and look at EVERYTHING, so we got extra attention from the vendors. Overall, I liked the blow hole but I don't know if I'd want to put up with the vendors and the touristy nature of the spot. read more

Went for July 4th weekend and everything was open. Was great to have a pina colada and oysters.

I went to see La Bufadora (the blowhole) near Ensenada, Mexico on 1/11/2018. I've seen it several times before. This time I was on a shore tour of La Bufadora ($37.99 each) from the cruise ship Carnival Inspiration. To me, La Bufadora is the greatest attraction to see in Ensenada. How spectacular it is depends on the weather (after all it is a natural phenomenon). It was great that day. Plus, I took photos. read more

As we drove into Mexico, I did not like it at ALL, even driving through Tijuana. It was just food, drinks, beach, clubs and repeat and for someone that isn't into that kind of stuff, it can be very disappointing. I was looking for something beautiful and different and decided to take the extra time to go to Ensenada in hopes of finding something nice. Make sure you stop by the visitor center for those of you that don't have service in Mexico. I used old school maps to get to and from La bufadora and actually found a map that would let me navigate Tijuana. The drive is about 20 minutes from the city and it isn't too bad. BE CAREFUL of the horrible potholes on the road there. Like they are really bad!!!! While you are driving here, you are treated with gorgeous views of the ocean and the city of Ensenada! Amazing place! When you finally get here, be aware that multiple people will bee waving you down for you to park your car at their little parking lots. And restrooms cost extra! After you start walking towards La Bufadora, it's like a mini flea market with trinkets and souvenirs surrounding you. They also have food and drinks wherever you go. You also should try the Churros and Pina Colada!!! It's super fresh!!!!! After about 10 minutes of walking you will get to La Bufadora. Now you need to accept the fact that you will get wet, like SUPER WET! It's a rare water geyser that comes straight from the ocean!!!!! Really beautiful views and photo opportunities! Now this place does get REALLY crowded so be aware on that part! I would say this really helped me in my Mexico trip because I drove back to the states happy! read more

The view was beautiful, but there was a lot of haggling and foul language definitely not child friendly. The snacks were delicious just a little too pricey. It takes a while to get here so be prepared. If you come at the wrong time be assured there will be HORRIBLE traffic. If you have really high expectations you will be let down. Then there's the annoying walk to La Bufadora from your parking spot - which will not be free. There are throngs of vendors assailing you from every side. You will be called amigo tons of time LOL!!!! Worst of all this walk is fairly long. There are tons of people at La Bufadora and finding a spot to film or photograph it will take quite a while at most times of the day. La Bufadora itself is not as cool as I thought it would be. I thought it would be more like a geyser but it's more like a huge splash of water against rocks. It is what it is. It's not a must see by any means but I do not really regret going there just to say I went there. What can I do without at La Bufadora? The vendors and the crowds. What stands out at La Bufadora? It's kind of overrated. Four stars!!!! La Bufadora is really ridiculously great!!!! read more

This place is such a hoot!! I like this place so much I moved here. Rancho La Bufadora is a quiet friendly community of artistic resourceful creative (mostly) gringos. The Rancho has many species of birds and neighbors have seen bob cats, foxes and coyotes. The Blow hole is a natural wonder and the cause to celebrate with shopping, food and drink and lots of humor. The Rancho has private sand beach, camping, kayaking, boating, fishing, four wheel exploring as well as mountain biking competitions here. We were excited to see La Bufadora because we love the outdoors and finding natural landmarks or scenic views. After being bombarded with the touristiness of Ensenada this could have been a nice change. Unfortunately, all you're going to find at La Bufadora is more of the same - vendors, vendors, and more vendors. Some people may like that, but they technically all sell the same stuff, so it's not really what I was looking for on this trip. And you can't avoid them - you must walk down a narrow but long strip of several dozen stands to get to the main attraction. Once you're there, the "blowhole" is nothing more than the surf splashing against a cliff. It's nice, but we couldn't get a good look due to about three rows of people watching it along the lookout. So we left kind of underwhelmed and annoyed by the vendors hounding us on the way back to the car. I might come back again if I knew there were no people selling stuff (unlikely) and less crowds. Because the natural beauty of Baja California is undeniable. And the drive was also nice, so an extra star for that. read more

Yesterday I finally visited the Buffadora, a famous (in these parts) marine geyser 17 miles south of Ensenada. It`s a worthy daytrip. The tide comes in filling up an underwater cave, water shoots out some twenty feet into the air with a big boom, assembled children scream. As if the blowhole itself doesn`t provide sufficient astonishment for one outing, visitors will also be amazed at the inflated prices local restaurants charge for mediocre food. The jaw-droppingly low quality of the artesianias (handicrafts) on offer further adds to the atmosphere of schlocky exploitation. In spite of everything, I have to confess I enjoyed myself. The crass comercialism of the place, though shocking, could not entirely mar the sheer beauty of the sea. And if you can just give yourself over to the spirit of the place, there`s a certain ironic joy to be found in willingly paying way too much for a mass-produced Frida Khalo key ring. read more
