Genuinely one of my favorite dining experiences! I visited France for the first time this summer and picked Jacques Faussat on a whim, but I'll definitely be making a special visit the next time I decide to travel to Paris. The food was outstanding and 100% worth the Michelin star already. My friend and I both got the 3-course menu (but, of course, sampled each other's dishes, so it felt like a 6-course meal). We started with a smattering of amuse bouche, including garlic bonbon, wafers, and the cutest little aubergine tarts. I never thought that garlic candy could taste good, but Jacques Faussat somehow made it happen. For our appetizers, I ordered the mushroom ravioli and my friend got the squid with squid ink. The ravioli was filled with delightfully earthy, umami mushrooms and paired with a fresh, herbaceous green sauce. The pasta was perfectly cooked and surrounded by a few extra little mushrooms just to really pack in the mushroom flavor. The squid was also fantastic; it was perfectly cooked, with a slight bite but no rubberiness, and the squid ink sauce emphasized the briney, umami flavor without making the dish too fishy. However, the real star of the show was the mains! I got their cod with peas and carrots and, not only was the presentation gorgeous (who knew you could create so many different shapes and textures with two vegetables?), but the cod was to die for. It was the most tender, succulent fillet I've ever had, falling apart at the slightest touch from my fork. The fish / veggies themselves were just lightly seasoned, allowing their natural flavors to shine through, but there was also a fantastic sauce on the side that you could use to switch up the flavor profiles. The desserts were also delightful -- our options were the rhubarb cheesecake with sichuan peppercorn sorbet and a chocolate mousse with marigold ice cream. The cheesecake was delicious and had a wonderful hit of tartness from the rhubarb and hint of crispiness from the pastry coating; the sorbet definitely had quite the peppercorn kick, and it was exciting to see them lean into a bolder flavor profile here. However, the dessert that I'll dream of until I somehow make it back here will be the chocolate mousse; it was remarkably simple on paper, but the light floral marigold ice cream perfectly balanced out the rich dark chocolate mousse and shell; the green herb sauce around it was equally fantastic and helped to brighten up the dessert. Beyond the food, what really made Jacques Faussat shine was the service. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, even letting my friend and I practice our rusty French to order. That French later came in handy when Jacques himself came out to greet us and thank us for joining him, which was truly the perfect end to the evening! The restaurant is pretty small, with capacity for max 10 tables, so the chef is able to put a ton of care and personal flair into each dish he makes and table he serves. Wow, Simply wow. Extraordinary is an understatement. The food, the drink, the staff, the ambiance, every detail.... My partner and I celebrated our engagement here and I'm in awe walking the street fantasizing what next week or next month's menu will be. Mr. Faussat and company hats off to you. Sofia was also excellent and explained our pairings beautifully. If you are lucky enough to enjoy what we ate today bless you. My husband and I visited Paris in November. We both agree that Jacques Faussat's brasserie is at the top of our list when it comes to our dinning experiences in France. This was an amazing culinary experience. They provided an excellent balance of experimenting with food while still making sure the flavor in their food is delicious. Initially, you might just walk past this restaurant as it is not flashy like other places however you would be missing out. This small yet intimate location is the exact location where Jacques and his staff provided not only exceptional food but also an experience. To start off with, I ordered the chefs four course meal with the wine tasting. These small portions were packed with flavor and surprisingly filling. Each bite was crafted with detail that were pleasing to the senses with perfectly paired wines. In addition to the food itself, Jacques would also help serve the patrons to ensure they were enjoying the meal. Sophia, the hostess/server was also wonderful as she explained the meals as well as answered any questions. I wish I could remember the list from which I learned of this bistro for it showed it as two euros (moderate). It was not. Four euros for sure. But there we were, so we did enjoy. The experience is in the food and service...but especially the food. And the inventor/designer of these dishes, Chef Jacques himself likes to watch your delight. I have eaten at places as, and even more, expensive (the dinner, including pre-meal kir and glass of wine during in February 2018 was E248/$304)--not regularly--but this food ranks with the best of them. This is a place to sit back and give your taste buds new and delightful pleasures. Everything we enjoyed was out of the ordinary; distinctive and luscious. Heavenly. I can see why they have a (well deserved) Michelin star. Neither my brother nor I speak French and when we came here, thankfully the waiter was bilingual and was able to provide us with an English menu as well and he took excellent care of us. We both got a tasting menu and had some of the best food we have ever had. To start with a piece of toast with mustard ice cream - a bit odd, but absolutely dreamy. I was a bit weirded out before I tried eating it, but the unique flavor got me really excited for the rest of the dinner. The blue lobster ceviche was fantastic and each bite was greater than the last. I did not think it could get any better until... The lamb shoulder main course. The best piece of meat I have ever had. It was absolutely sensational - the seasoning, the tenderness, the freshness, the cut, the way it was cooked.. Honestly it was all perfect. As perfect of a piece of lamb as you can get. We then had a cheese platter with some deliciously stinky cheeses and finished the meal with a white peach soufflé (my first experience with such a dessert) and it really knocked it out of the park. The entire meal was making me crave more and there was absolutely nothing disappointing. The service was fantastic and meeting the chef who came out to greet us was really special too. I know that it is not cheap, but for a treat, I highly recommend making your way here and if/when I am back in Paris, I hope to stop by again. I was invited there a couple on months ago. We had a Sud Ouest Signature Menue with a variety of dishes from the region. Food: delicious yet simple, your palate feels like its in heaven but your heart feels at home. The Potatoe-Foie Gras cake is especially tasteful: it is soft, racy and melts on your tong. My main dish was a magret de canard (as pink as it should be, with delicious sides). Service:really professional and quiet, and the waiter was of great advice when it came to wine. At the end of the meal we took a sip at their great Armanac collection. No regrets. Atmosphere: quiet and intimate, ideal for a date or a small party, not for kids or larger parties. The decoration is like the cooking: simple and tasteful. read more

Let me start by saying that I tend not to be a huge fan of tradition french cooking. However, since I spend a couple of weeks in Paris every year, I decided that I really needed to find a French Restaurant that I could slip into my personal rotation. I tend not to be so interested in overly sauced, overly pretentious, overly-priced restaurants in general, so that took about half of the French restaurants in Paris out of the mix. So I set out to do a little research and happened to stumble across La Braisiere while looking through Zagat's. Two things caught my eye. The first was that the food rating was as high as restaurants that cost 2 to 3 times as much (I was looking for an option to a place recommended by our hotel that would have cost us $500-$600 for 2). The other was that it was French food from the Southwest of France, near the Pyrenees; so it was going to be a little bit different. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a residential neighborhood near Parc Monceau. Its a small, intimate place that makes you feel as though you're in Chef Jacques Faussat's home. We were the only non-French people there so I knew that we were in the right place. The food itself was outstanding with unique flavors (my date had a calamari main dish that was served in a bowl with a delicious sauce then poured over it). We started with appetizers of white asparagus and a Langoustine dish that was just amazing. Not usually a fan of lamb, I ordered it for my main course because I had read so many glowing reviews. It did not disappoint. Finally, we had a souffle for dessert which was one of the the lightest most delicious things I have ever tasted. Along the way, I asked for wine suggestions and they brought out an outstanding light red from the Loire Valley and for the main course, another red from the Southwest. Again, tremendous. Off the beaten bath, a hidden gem that's reasonably priced with amazing food. Yes, I will be going back. read more
