They have great food the service is good the ambiance is okay. I would recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.

Had lunch here yesterday. The Spicy Thai Chicken Soup was good, but not spicy enough. I fixed it though. The large bowl ended up being $7.50+. Too much for my lunch. I realized today that the last time I was in a La Bou was 30 years ago. Somewhere in Citrus Heights maybe? I'm going to come back, but the soup isn't the answer at that price. Maybe a sandwich? I have gotten food in several La Bou locations. Always great, not this location. We have given them two chances and never again! The first time was pre pandemic. Went in and ordered to go. Simple order, 2 large Chinese chicken salads. Often they have them premade. So I stand and wait, there was quite a few people in line and a couple waiting for orders. They call my name and number. Ok I walk up, the bags seemed wrong (I should have checked) so I said, this is two large Chinese chicken salads? Yes, yes!! OK then. We get home, nope we got someone's order. Well we are not driving back there so we made the best of it. Today we decide we want salads for lunch. So I figured I would place the order online. Paid for it online too, easy! We also went early so as not to get into the lunch rush. Again, same easy order. Got a text, your order is ready! Great I go in, there is a pick up window. I went up gave them my name, she says "over there!" oh? I have to wait in line to pickup? Fine, I wait in line. Finally get up there and gave my name, she walks over (to the pick up area) and grabs my order sitting on the counter. I said, they couldn't have handed it to me? She giggles. AGAIN, the bags seem wrong but I'm on to them now. They gave me ONE large salad and ONE small salad. I said whats the point of ordering and paying online if you guys still cant get the order right? Dropped by as the fam wanted to try it out. The number of stars is right for this place. 3 stars, but a solid 3. The service was average. They greeted us from behind the cashiers area and gave us some time to decide. It was a bit odd as we were standing by the sign that said please wait to be seated. In other words more than 15 feet away. We had the begets with a dill sauce, the La Bou chicken salad and the almond pastrie. Everything came out okay. I was craving some of that delicious creamy dill sauce today, so I went over to La Bou for lunch. I got my usual: BLT on a croissant, dill sauce on the side! I wanted a drink too so I opted for the iced green tea latte. It must be new because it was just handwritten on a piece of paper and taped to the drink menu. It was a medium size, but they filled it with way too much ice... I probably had about 3-4 sips and it was finished :( My total was about $11, then she asked me if I wanted it for here or to-go. I stated for here, and then she told me "oh okay, then your total will be $12.02." Darn I didn't know they charged extra for dining in. It's not her fault I guess, and other than that, the staff was friendly. They have free wi-fi here and plenty of open tables. I came around lunch time and it wasn't too crowded or noisy at all. I wouldn't mind coming back here once I start school again to grab some quality food and do my homework. I think it's a better option over Panera...which is usually crowded and loud. The demographic here at La Bou is an older crowd too, so you're not going to have to deal with noisy teens here! Yay! My previous review was 5 stars but I'm knocking it to a 4 (still really good in my book) because there's more places to get more for your money. Every time I come to this La Bou, I am greeted by warm and kind people behind the counter. I love coming to this location because I'm always treated so well. They run a tight ship here and it is clear they have an incredible worth ethic. Oh, and they always get my almond milk decaf latte with extra foam just perfect. read more

Food is excellent here and service is good and fast however they frequently run out of sausage for breakfast sandwiches and they leave there phone off the hook during busy times I have personally experienced this with many attempts to call and calling while at the actual facility and there phone is off the hook and not a sole employee is on the phone. So it's either intentional or accidental but it seems to happen often so iam starting to believe it's intentional. But the taste and quality of food outweighs there lack of picking up the phone. So at this moment I can order online overruling this issue but I prefer to order via phone. read more

I'm glad you can buy their dressing in a jar for $6.99! Yummy dill sauce! I can't get over how delicious their bread dipped in dill sauce is. I came here for their special Asian Thursdays and got Mien salad! It was delicious and very generous with the chicken feet in it but you can ask for no chicken feet! Noodles are no longer marinaded and salad is $1 more. I used to get the LaBou chicken salad once a week for lunch. The last two times the noodles have not been marinaded. Today I asked about it and was told from now on it's plain noodles. It pretty much tastes like plain spaghetti on my salad. Not good. I'm pretty disappointed as it's still pictured as marinaded noodles. If you know this salad or the Asian noodle salad, you know the marinaded noodles are the best part. Because I am a self-proclaimed bread lover, my friends were surprised to hear that I had never had La Bou's baguette and dill sauce. Every time my boyfriend and I passed by a La Bou, he'd suggest going in, and this time we finally did! On a lazy Sunday afternoon, my boyfriend and I wandered in around lunchtime, with a couple people in line in front of us. It seemed a little hectic, with people scurrying in the back assembling sandwiches and other orders, so much so that one of the cashiers finished taking a customer's order and stepped away to help. Nevertheless, the young lady who took our order was perfectly pleasant. We had grabbed a folded take-out menu from the front counter to get a better idea of the different sandwiches and options - the menu board didn't seem very detailed at all, and didn't list nearly as many items. Not sure why that is? My boyfriend ordered a chicken panini and tomato soup combo. I got a sliced full baguette and large (2.5 oz) dill sauce to share. We took a seat and waited for our number to be called, and despite the restaurant being at half capacity or so, the wait was longer than anticipated. After maybe about 15-20 minutes, our number was called. I was happy to see that the bag of the sliced baguette was full of delicious, soft bread, and the dill sauce, which had been super hyped by this point, lived up to high expectations. We ended up ordering another large dill sauce after I realized I'd basically be drinking it since it was so good. All in all, my boyfriend's sandwich was good, albiet smaller than I thought it'd be, but the soup was tasty and served in a large bowl. I used to come to La Bou for lunch with my daughter years ago before the ownership changed. We enjoyed eating their fresh food next to one of the many windows. Unfortunately when the new owner took over, the cashiers and cooks seem to care less and it showed in their dishes, service, and establishment. For example, there are many finger prints on window, the floor has not been swept, the glass at the counter has nothing in it other than pictures of food, the servers yell out the order number disrupting lunch, they mess up patron's orders including mine, the air vents are blackened, the cashier doesn't know what's in their salad, their Croissant was not fresh and fluffy, their Asian Salad tasted plain, etc. I could go on but I believe I've made my point. This saddens me that La Bou can no longer be the soup for the soul that I would hear on the radio commercials many years ago. read more

Sadly I don't come here much because it has gone downhill. It used to be so good and I didn't mind paying the high price. Today I go in to purchase a croissant for my son and I see a fly in the display case flying around, landing and crawling on the pastries. The case is not enclosed so after informing the employee, she shoos the fly away, but it comes back and lands on more. I doubt they will throw the affected pastries in the garbage. Was running errands today and figured I'd stop and grab some lunch since I've been wanting LaBou lately. I ordered a 1/2 & 1/2 special with an Asian chicken salad and Thai soup plus a baguette and large jar of dill dip. All tasted fantastic once I finally got it. I was sitting there for quite a while as people were coming in-and-out and getting their orders, even the ones after me. What had happened is one of the ladies calling out the orders is very hard to understand. Pretty much cannot understand her, gave it to someone else. Once one of the gals noticed me sitting there for a while asked what I ordered and we realized the time the gal that the customers couldn't understand have it to the wrong person. For Labou and the high quality of their food items I felt this location lacked that. It was really like an old deli feel that lacked the luster of enjoying the meal you were about to invest in. The sandwich was subpar- I had a turkey on croissant and mydaughter the ham and cheese panini. The restaurant could have used a deep clean probably as the tables were still dirty even after it appeared someone wiped it down. For other locations I've seen better. This one was disappointing. First time ever trying a La Bou and will not be back, ordered a cafe Latte, strawberry freeze and a Chinese chicken salad. The salad came out within minutes but drinks they completely forgot about until I went up and had to ask. Expected better since they had more workers than customers at the time of order. The turkey they use in their sandwiches is super processed and has a gelatinous texture. Avocado turned out to be distasteful guacamole spread. I decided to give this La Bou location one more star because I came here a couple of days ago for lunch and it seems that it's improved. There was an elderly woman working the cash register who was very friendly and gave you that "grandma" feeling. She took our orders and had a smile on her face the whole time. I ordered my usual: a large bowl of creamy tomato bisque with a lemonade. I was craving something sweet for afterwards, so I also ordered myself a hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll. The soup was served hot and ready with croutons on top and 4 slices of sourdough baguette on the side. I was in La Bou heaven! The hot chocolate was served in a to-go cup and my cinnamon roll was taken out of the display case by the cash register. Sure, it wasn't fresh, but it looked delicious anyways. My soup was amazing as always and satisfied my hungry little self. The hot chocolate was just right. However, my cinnamon roll wasn't that great. I could mostly taste the dough and not so much the cinnamon. I'll try something else next time. Overall, a solid lunch and the service was great too. Very poor customer service! Didn't acknowledge me, and I was the only customer! Finally took my order and did not make any eye contact. Started to ignore my three item sandwich and make something different. When my food was ready they put it were I could see it, on the opposite end of the building. She proceeded to help the elderly man that walked in and ignore me. After helping the man, she said - ,"oh, yours is down there." I'll drive to the Land Park , but never here again!
