Great find for authentic dining in Rome. The restaurant has very reasonable prices, an extensive menu of pastas, chicken, seafood, beef, and veal dishes in addition to soups, salads, and pizzas. I dined here with my sister on a Wednesday evening in November. We chose to eat inside because it was chilly; but they did have several heaters on the patio. We were seated in a cute room; partially closed off from several other small dining areas. I ordered the lasagna which was only 11 Euros, and my sister ordered the eggplant Parmesan for 14 Euros. The food came out really fast. It was also delicious: best meal either of has had in Rome so far! They also had a full bar and I had a few Peronis and she had a few Aperol Spritzes. Drinks came out amazingly quick as well! I ordered the tiramisu for dessert. It was a little small; but very flavorful and A+ for presentation! Our tour guide/driver Fabian recommend this spot! I'm so glad he did this was one of my favorite spots in Rome this far. I got the Cacio e Pepe and it wasn't overly salty (which seems to be very difficult to master). I also ordered white wine and the European soda. My family and I stopped by here for lunch on vacation. We were on a driving tour and the driver recommended we check this place out for lunch. Inside there's a lot of space and tables. We noticed they had a bowl of cheese in the middle of the restaurant where they make some of their pastas in. I didn't order one of those dishes but I recommend checking that out. I ordered their trio of pastas. I can't tell you enough how outstanding everything was. It came with amatriciana, carbonara and cacio e pepe. I wanted more and more. It was fun to try the different variations of pasta and each one was delicious and so flavorful. The carbonara and cacio e pepe were my favorites. Shout out to Marco, our private tour guide/driver, for bringing us to La Botte for lunch. The food was very good. This place is a no-frills Italian restaurant. We starting with the Burrata. Olive oil and vinegar are at every table, and we helped ourselves to drizzling it on the mozzarella-and-cream soft cheese ball. The fresh baked bread that came with was soft - the perfect transporting mechanism for the Burrata. I went with the Carbonara. Al dente pasta, great for twisting it into the fork A healthy amount of bacon pieces is always a plus, imo. The creamy Alfredo sauce was perfect. I couldn't leave Rome with out trying some Tiramisu. This was excellent! Creamy, dreamy, oh so McSteamy-ish... Wait, what? At any rate, perfect end to an awesome day of sightseeing in Rome. PS, our waiter was polite and pretty timely. It was our first day in Rome and we were starving when we got off the train. We figured once we got to the hotel, we'd check-in and then get something to eat. La Botte was right around the corner, so we figured we'd stop in. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and most of them spoke English, which was great for us as we don't speak Italian. Their menu even had English translations to make ordering easier. We ordered the Botte salad to share as an appetizer which was very refreshing and so colorful! I ordered the black truffle carbonara and my mom ordered a mushroom and cheese pizza -- both were delicious and fresh! We stumbled upon this restaurant after touring the Vatican and we were hot, tired and looking for a place to rest, have a bit of lunch and relax during the hottest part of the day. They welcomed us in and sat us right in front of the AC unit and a large fan, thank goodness. We ordered the bufala mozzarella salad and the mixed salad. Both were delicious and healthy portions. As for drinks, we ordered 2 glasses of house white wine and 2 aperol spritz...both delicious. Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us after a late check in. Everything we ate was wonderful, the staff was very friendly and welcoming to two Americans who can't speak Italian to save themselves. Not to mention the great jokes from our server who had us laughing through our entire meal. Gluten free pasta was an option that I was so happy about. My husband tried to eat his entire pizza, couldn't, and requested a take away box which is rare. To top it off my husband remembered to take his pizza but forgot his jacket, the server ran out with it and then apologized for not running all the way down the street with it bc they aren't supposed to leave the restaurant. Probably the most disappointing place i have been to. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff. When we were ordering our food the waitress offer if we want some bread. And she ask if we want water. She served us with a tap water and a bread. My husband and i both got some pasta. I had a penne pesto which is awful. The pasta itself is al dente. Almost not edible if i would describe it. Upon checking out. They charge us €2 for the bread which i thought was complimentary like in any other restaurant. They also charged us €2.50 for the tap water. I would pay the price of the water if it's in a sealed water bottle. read more

Visited Rome last summer. Tried this restaurant before heading home for the night. They have a pretty big selection of pizza. Many of the options are unique combinations of veggies and meats. I tried the Gorgonzola pizza with chicken. I don't know how many ways I can explain an "OK" slice of pizza, but I'll try something different. If the pizza was a place, it would be purgatory. After having dishes incorrectly served and two main courses over-cooked, plus a couple of other issues, we gave no tip and explained our reasons, which ended in the front of house rep (the owner?) becoming excessively rude and dismissive. It is easy to get scammed by the restaurant especially with tripadvisor recommendation logo on the door. This one had 3 logos. I think TripAdvisor loses credibility by allowing such restaurants to place their recommended by tripadvisor logo on the door. We had pasta and lamb chops and potato and wine. The order came in about 5 minutes. I was so hungry that I ate half the meat even when tasted bad and left the potato as both tasted horrible. It tasted old and microwaved. I told the waitress she said sorry but she did not cancel the meal. Then when I asked for the check. I discovered a bill with an additional service charge of 5.7 Euro for a bill of 38 euro. Which is about 15 percent. I could not challenge it, because I did not know. But after I arrived at the hotel and I asked about the charge, they told me it is illegal for them to add this surcharge in Rome. Keep in mind that I did not have water or bread. These types of people should be out of business and it is all the fault of tripadvisor marketing effort to allow such restaurants to display their logo. It is not only the loss of the money value of the dinner, but the spoiling of the romantic vacation experience, thanks to your misleading advertising practices. read more

If we were grading on service and staff alone, the rating would be higher as everyone is very friendly and there is no language issue. We ate there twice this week and found the food to be "hit or miss", though. We have higher rating to the mussels, but not so the gnocchi. The wine was tasty and the overall cost was reasonable.
