    Cacio e Pepe
    Trendy D.

Our tour guide/driver Fabian recommend this spot! I'm so glad he did this was one of my favorite spots in Rome this far. I got the Cacio e Pepe and it wasn't overly salty (which seems to be very difficult to master). I also ordered white wine and the European soda. My family ordered some other pasta that was recommended to us. The food was very filling, they have outdoor and indoor seating, ambiance was beautiful outside. The staff were super kind. The food came out within 20 mins.

We came here our last night in Italy. The Alfredo pasta was probably the best pasta we had on the entire trip!Definitely check this place out! The mozzarella sticks were pretty basic, but they hit the spot, nice outdoor space to sit without too much foot traffic to distract you. Good service, English menus available. Lots of options!

So good!! We had lunch here and everything was amazing. The servers are delightful, you never have to wait for anything. We had the Caprese and the chicken fettucini. Delicious! Also had some house red wine and finished with creme brulee. Cannot say enough good things!!

Pizza burrata was great, artichoke was out of this world. I would definitely come back here. This spot was four steps away from our hotel room, we got super lucky! Pizza burrata 8.5/10 Artichoke 9/10 Service 7/10

My family and I stopped by here for lunch on vacation. We were on a driving tour and the driver recommended we check this place out for lunch. Inside there's a lot of space and tables. We noticed they had a bowl of cheese in the middle of the restaurant where they make some of their pastas in. I didn't order one of those dishes but I recommend checking that out. I ordered their trio of pastas. I can't tell you enough how outstanding everything was. It came with amatriciana, carbonara and cacio e pepe. I wanted more and more. It was fun to try the different variations of pasta and each one was delicious and so flavorful. The carbonara and cacio e pepe were my favorites. My family also ordered a pizza with a few different toppings, I forget what it was called on the menu. I tried a slice and it was delicious. They also have free wifi!

Shout out to Marco, our private tour guide/driver, for bringing us to La Botte for lunch. The food was very good. This place is a no-frills Italian restaurant. We starting with the Burrata. Olive oil and vinegar are at every table, and we helped ourselves to drizzling it on the mozzarella-and-cream soft cheese ball. The fresh baked bread that came with was soft - the perfect transporting mechanism for the Burrata. I went with the Carbonara. Al dente pasta, great for twisting it into the fork A healthy amount of bacon pieces is always a plus, imo. The creamy Alfredo sauce was perfect. I couldn't leave Rome with out trying some Tiramisu. This was excellent! Creamy, dreamy, oh so McSteamy-ish... Wait, what? At any rate, perfect end to an awesome day of sightseeing in Rome. PS, our waiter was polite and pretty timely. Prices seemed a smidgen high, but it IS homemade everything here, so definitely worth it.

Bufala Mozzarella Salad and Mixed Salad

We stumbled upon this restaurant after touring the Vatican and we were hot, tired and looking for a place to rest, have a bit of lunch and relax during the hottest part of the day. They welcomed us in and sat us right in front of the AC unit and a large fan, thank goodness. We ordered the bufala mozzarella salad and the mixed salad. Both were delicious and healthy portions. As for drinks, we ordered 2 glasses of house white wine and 2 aperol spritz...both delicious. The only reason we gave 4/5 stars is because the bill came to almost €60 for lunch which seems a little bit steep for a no frills restaurant such as this. Still, we'd go back.

Great service today - fast and friendly ! We ordered the bruschetta which was good, but nit worth the $2.50 Euro per slice / no offense. However, the zucchini leaf risotto was AMAZING- so rich and flavorful ! The veal scallopini was very good as well. The best cane for dessert - a homemade ricotta apple blueberry tarts. So light and delicious. Our server was very helpful and fast!

The "Entree"...it was just OK. Kinda dry and generic.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

From the food to the experience, this place is a must when you're in Rome. I'd come back again and again without hesitation.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.
