There are tons of place to eat around Navona that trap the tourists...but here time after time, I have found it to be the best overall. This place is near but not in n the Piazza Navona which makes it a plus. Out of the way with friendly attentive staff and great food. We ate on the sidewalk and enjoyed pasta alla vodka and lasagna with drinks. They also have an all you can eat menu available. One of the best meals I had while in Rome for two weeks. read more

A total neighborhod gem, featuring speedy service, a simple menu, and tasty classics. My finacee and I arrived in Rome and were desperate for lunch. Yum! We were seated outside between two local groups. That was our first good sign. What caught our eye was the steaming plate of pasta and seafood goodness. I should preface that my husband, son and I like a lot of flavor in my food but my daughter does not and this place suited all of our needs. I ordered the spaghetti with scoglio and it totally hit the spot. The red sauce was delicious and came with a heathy portion of mussels, clams and shrimp and a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes. We also ordered the spaghetti with clams and pizza diavola and they were good too but my husband kept nibbling from my sauce so I think my dish was the winner of our 3. Daughter ordered the vodka penne dish. Also very good, not your American version of vodka sauce but mild and she enjoyed it. Reasonably priced for being steps away from Piazza Navona. We were disappointed by the food. The seafood pasta dish Linguine Allo Scoglio was piled high with empty mussel shells (no mussels in pasta underneath) with 3 prawns and a big serving of pasta. So almost no seafood in a seafood dish. When told of no mussels, the manager insulted us by saying the mussels were underneath but we said no and he rudely insisted we were wrong and we were lying about the mussels. Total rude overreaction. The Tagliolini Ragu Bolognese was a dense blob of heavy pasta and sauce with nothing else. Go somewhere else - the manager should be replaced. read more

Great experience here. While in Rome, I asked our local guide for a good tip on pizza and pasta at a less than tourist place. She mentioned this spot and I'm so glad we went. We shared a pizza and carbonara and finished strong with chocolate mousse and cappuccinos. The food was all excellent - great carbonara (much richer than back in the US), perfect wood fired crust and fresh pizza. Aside from the food, what makes this a 5 and not just 4 star place was the service. We ate outside and the guy helping us (maybe the owner) was BEYOND accommodating, friendly, helpful, and shared nice conversation with us as well as for a cab for us afterwards since it started to rain. Couldn't have been better. Navona Notte is not fancy, but a solid local place with great local food and warm service. We really enjoyed the experience. Grazie! read more

My husband and went here a few weeks ago for lunch. It was EXCELLENT. Here's what we ate: Lasagna: This was amazing. unlike lasagna that you eat stateside the the meal was light and flavorful with the perfect amount of everything. I was so impressed because I could not begin to imagine who to make this meal...even though I have been making Italian-American lasagna for years. Carbonara: perfectly al-dente and flavorful we also really enjoyed this dish. The ingredients were really high quality; it was a little on saltier side but not unbalanced. I asked for a basic glass or red wine, which I did not enjoy (it was more flat). If you go I recommend asking for a Brunello or Chianti Classico. The next time we are in Rome we will definitely stop by. Tip: If you enjoy restaurants like "Olive Garden" or like Deep dish "pizza" or want to order something like garlic bread, then this is not the place for you. This is an excellent restaurant for people who want to experience authentic Roman or classic Italian dishes (not Italian-American). You are almost guaranteed to have a negative experience if you go in expecting breadsticks and pizza hut. read more

We actually were on our way to the restaurant next door. We saw all the people sitting outside and took a peek at the menu and went here instead. To start we shared a calzone and a pizza the crust was light and thin very good. Our friends each ordered a salad which was enough for the 4 of us to share. I had the spaghetti With clams it was very tasty but the sauce had to much butter or olive oil. My husband had the fettuccine with prosciutto mushrooms and peas he liked it and he couple we were with enjoyed there meals. Came here with 3 friends on a Friday night. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. As college students visiting italy from NYC, we loved the food. Two friends had pizza and two friends had penne alla vodka. Everything was delicious and only around 8 euros. The reason I give it 4 stars is because the service is very disorganized. I understand that in Italy, waiters are just supposed to take your order and deliver the food, but our waiter did not take our order for awhile, kept forgetting to give us the bill, and told us he would give us the wifi password but never returned. Awesome food finished off a wonderful city trip, from the friendly staff to the amazing food. We walked past here on our first night and it was packed, it is worth asking for a table at least one night in advance. We ate lunch here after not getting into our preferred restaurants in the city center. It was half-empty so we decided to take a seat. That should have been a sign about the quality though. While not terrible quality, we received poor value (about 60 euro for two people). They did not offer a house wine, so we had to order two wines by the glass. The caprese salad was bland, the tomatoes did not taste very fresh. The spaghetti carbonara was drenched in cheese and very sticky. The sea bass special platter was fine, but nothing special and particularly for the price (22 euro). Overall, this place seems like a tourist trap. My family and I came back here twice and both times it was crowded. The food portion is generous here and it's cheap. Pizza was really good. My cousin and I ordered the simple garlic and aioli spaghetti dish and it was so good along with a side dish of shrimp and calamari. The previous day I had order the mussel, clams and shrimp linguini and it was excellent. Everyone liked their dishes. We were so full when we left. We had made the mistake of telling our server of bringing out the dishes separate and the 2nd dish took a long time. It's because they usually eat the first dish and relax, talk and digest. By the time the 2nd dish comes out your ready to chow down again. But we were too hungry the first time and it got frustrating. The 2nd time we came back we just said everything together. Our waitress was nice, she gave us 9 shots of limoncello for free. Man oh man, that stuff is strong. One shot of that would have knocked the wind out of me. I was excited upon arrival and disappointed as I left. Probably the least impressive pizza I've had in Italy, besides the one I made at a pizza making class. Now that was bad pizza. The problem here is that they have too much excess flour on their crust. The penne alla vodka was definitely al dente, and I imagine some Italians would even consider it undercooked. Sauce was tasty though. The osso buco was next, and was more frozen peas than anything else. We ended with a satisfactory tiramisu, but it was nothing to rave about. I had my eyes on Navona Notte since we first arrived in Rome and I was yelping restaurants near our hotel. We ate her on our last night in Rome and it was amazing. There was were only to groups when we arrived and we were quickly seated. I had the spaghetti with pesto and the husband had the lasagna. Being a first timer, I asked for 2 orders of bruschetta, assuming they would be small. To my American surprise they were huge and oh so delicious. Really quaint restaurant recommended by our tour guide. I had the lasagna which at first sight looked sketch but tasted great! My friend had the pizza with mushrooms and prosciutto and adored it! We ate outside and just enjoyed the breeze and the hustle and bustle of Italian streets. The house white wine was my least favorite of all the ones I tried in Italy so if you want a wine to complement your meal get a bottle from the list instead. This place is awful. The pizza baker was very nice until we complained about the pizza that was burned. Suddenly he got angry and insulting us for not knowing what pizza should be. So we let it be complaining about the pizza sauce. It was made of can. He came back with the bill and told us that we don't have to pay for the pizza but he had included personal service which was exactly the same price as the pizza. Even though at the pizza menu it said that personal service is included in the food price. So many thing was wrong I don't have the energy and time to explain, like the pizza baker( who i think was the owner) was standing 2 meter from us and smoking. And the food took long time to get ready. Long story short. We got out hungry. Nothing to recommend. We have eaten pizza at other places in Rome and it was very good and tasty. This place is really Italian, the staff was friendly. We had a pizza diavola and patate al forno and a Merlot house wine. As a dessert we had a tiramisu. The tiramisu was amazing and the pizza is one of the best I've eaten while I was in Rome. By far it didn't match the ones I've eaten while in Naples. However it's very hard to come by places that serve a high quality pizza like the ones in Naples. The price-quality is really good if you're looking for a Italian dinner in Rome. At the end of the night we were given a limoncello on the house which was really nice. The staff is friendly and the service is quite fast. The majority of the people that were eating in the restaurant were Italian and also the waiters didn't speak English very well. Which didn't matter that much for us. I'd recommend this place for a nice pizza and some dessert. read more

Delightful restaurant with of all things, a singing waiter! We felt like we were in a Gondola. I ordered a spaghetti pomodoro, because I wasn't feeling adventurous and I happen to love pomodoro. Heli ordered the fish of the day which turned out to be a spectacular sea bass, boned at the table by the M'aitre De and served with potatoes and roasted vegetables. It was to die for. This is an amazing Italian restaurant that is full of locals. It is hard to imagine such a non-tourist trap located just a few blocks from Piazza Navona, but this is the real deal. They welcome tourists with genuine hospitality. The food is some of the best in all of Rome. The pizzas are cooked in a wood-burning oven, the pastas are fresh and the wine is delicious. The place is spotlessly clean. I first dined here 10 years ago, and it was so good, I returned the following night. I NEVER do that when I travel, since I prefer to experience as many restaurants as possible. But this place is such a winner, it was a logical decision. This place is awful, the pasta was undercooked and hard which combined with a velveeta sauce and pesto out of a can truly made for a terrible meal. I cannot comprehend how this place has 4 stars. My pesto pasta was dry and cold when it arrived to my table suggesting it had been made hours ago. The penne al vodka tastes like velveeta cheese mixed with slices of bacon. Took ten minutes after we finished eating for us to ask if they can bring the check, with no one even asking how we were doing.
