This restaurant is AMAZING! Best empanadas ever.. the homemade pasta is so delicious. I knew from their Instagram pictures I was getting pasta, but couldn't decide which to get. Following the suggestion of our waiter I got the fettuccine with mushroom cream sauce.. Oh. Em. Gee. My boyfriend got the ribeye... absolute perfection. It just melted in your mouth. I live about 2 blocks away from here and drove by numerous times before finally deciding to check this place out. Everything was incredible from the salad, to the gnocchi, and the risotto. Hands down the best steak I've ever eaten. We usually get the Vacio. The steak dinner for two is good for your first visit because you get to try all the cuts of meat. If you order the steak dinner for two don't order anything else, you won't be able to finish it. We've also tried and loved the pastas, la barrita salad, and the empanadas. read more

What a gem. Food is amazing. I could put the garlicky green sauce on everything! We had the trio of empanadas, polenta with mushroom sauce, and and burrata crostini to start and it was delicious. Steak was perfect and they even have great fries. Finished with crepes for dessert. Great date night and would recommend to anyone. I went to La Barrita last night for happy hour! Beautiful ambiance! Reasonably priced beers. AMAZING service. The staff was extremely personable and interested in getting to know us. We ended up receiving a steak dinner for FREE due to the friendly staff treating us well! La Barrita is a quick walk from the Hopkins hospital and is on the walk home for many Hopkins students! We will certainly bring more of our PhD cohort for happy hours and I will consider taking my parents when they visit! read more

The food is good. That being said, the service is awful. I asked how their short rib was cooked and they told me, "it's put on the grill". Unless you plan on chewing it to next Tuesday no one is just grilling a short rib. The waiter could not explain anything on the menu and when I asked to sub fries for veggies I was up charged 4.00 on top of my 37 dollar ribeye. Found this place on yelp and turned it into a date night with my wife. Cocktail menu was eclectic and tasty. Bread was fresh and warm with a delicious dipping sauce. The baked cheese appetizer was unique and phenomenal. I'm just waking up with a light hangover and I could totally eat another skillet of that cheese. We opted for the 2 x meat extravaganza. It was all delicious, but the highlight was the short ribs. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was a lot of meat, so come hungry. We finished with the flan, which wasn't great, but it was Argentinian style so it could just be too different for our tastebuds. I went to La Barritta last night with my wife and a friend, and we all really loved it. It is a very nice little corner neighborhood spot in Butchers Hill with a nice selection of local beers on tap. For appetizers we got the burrata and chicken empanadas, all fantastic. Actually didnt have a steak, although I hear they're amazing, but had three different pasta dishes all of which we absolutely excellent. Very reasonably priced meal over all as well. Another great night. Went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and he was treated royally by our waiter and Sebastian, the owner. We tried new cocktails and appetizers and again, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was great with outside seating and the front of the restaurant open to make it airy and feel larger than it actually is. This is fast becoming our favorite spot. Amazing new restaurant in our neighborhood!! We will certainly be adding this to our rotation of places for date night! The service was phenomenal. It was a true team effort. We started with the trio of empanadas and the chorizo, both cooked to perfection. We both were craving pasta, so the ravioli verde and fettuccine con tuco were up next. The pesto on the ravioli mixed with the beef made the dish unique and delicious. One of if not the best pasta dish I've had. The short rib ragu on top of the fettuccine was fantastic. Last up was dessert--savory and sweet, the panacotta and panqueques were must haves. Even the cocktails were full flavored and refreshing!! We will be heading back ASAP to try the steak! read more

Unbeatable food and service in Baltimore. Best steak---for sure in the East Coast but probably in the whole US. For beef fans: Rib Eye in La Barrita beats Kobe Beef from Hakushu in Tokyo, and the Bife de Chorizo from Don Julio in Buenos Aires. I have tried for years to get world class meat in the US. We love this place! It is close to our home and has become our go-to date spot. The food is absolutely delicious, Sebastian (the owner) is great, and it's a super-cute spot. Every meal starts off with bread and amazing chimichurri. I literally could eat that for my whole dinner (but stop myself to save room for all of the other delicious things on the menu). We've loved everything we've eaten off of the menu, but some of our favorites include the empanadas (eat them with your hands or else Sebastian will tease you), the cannelloni (which comes out piping hot and is my personal favorite), the spinach ravioli, and the steak. Writing about it seriously makes me super-hungry all over again! In terms of the space, it's the size of a rowhome so definitely on the smaller side with mostly tables of 2 and the bar although there are some larger tables in back and when the weather is nice, has outdoor seating. We always make a reservation if we want a table since seating is limited. We will continue to be regulars at La Barrita. This is a difficult location since it's tucked away, but we are very much rooting for it to stick around!! read more
