I've been going to the many La Bamba locations since the 1990's and have loved the food through thick or thin regardless of the various food safety violations over the years (check State of Fl website for health violations). Portions used to be generous and quality seemed relatively decent. But tonight took the cake. Portion size (pollo a la plancha is akin to 60% of the old size for roughly double the price served lukewarm like it was precooked 1.5 hours ago and the taco shells which used to be so good are half the size of a couple of years ago. As if the extra $.50 (yes fifty cents) impacts them financially. Since they've been aggressive on the price increase front at least make us think that the price is commensurate with good sized portions. Service was a solid 1 star. Won't come back. read more

We suspected it would've been baked, and since we ordered the cheese to be melted, it came out direct from the refrigerator and thought it was suspicious. It was disgusting and greasy! There is nothing wrong with this place. The food is OK. If you like Tex Mex, you will like it here. I have places that serve this same food closer to home. We came in on a Tuesday and I was shocked to see they had no Tuesday special whatsoever. They do have 1/2 off margaritas on Monday. I didn't cone for the specials, but it was a little surprising they have none. We were seated right away. Chips and salsa were brought. The salsa is freshly made and it is amazing! I got fish tacos. Came with refried beans and rice. They were meh. Really soggy though, my tortillas fell apart while I ate them. Service was good. Our waiter was nice and came by often. Our family favorite is the cheese enchiladas and bean burros with verde tomatillo sauce. (The red enchilada sauce has chicken or beef broth.) TAKE OUT REVIEW: As much as I love them, they need a little help in packing their takeout. Everything leaked everywhere, and sadly clean-up took longer than actual meal consumption. I felt that the takeout portions were smaller compared to dine-in too. Sadly, no complimentary chips and salsa on orders for takeout. I wish they did though since so many local restaurants are providing complimentary items (bread, etc). A large 16oz salsa is $3, the small 8oz salsa is $2, and a bag of chips is $3. First time eating at this restaurant and I gotta say, this was definitely a good pick. I ordered the two Pollo a la plancha plates. La Bamba is a staple in the Coral Springs/Margate area as it's been around for a very long time serving really good Mexican and Spanish food. They do have a few other locations and I was able to stop into the Margate location tonight for a meal with friends. We were seated very quickly and greeted with chips and salsa for the table. Our sever came by to take our drink order within a minute or two and also took our dinner orders as soon as our drinks made it to the table. The staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout the entire meal. Tonight I had the Pollo a la Plancha which was delicious as usual from here. I have been here many times over the years and I can assure you that whatever you choose to eat here will be great. There is a reason why this place has been here for so long, great food. I went with a friend. I asked for chicken chimichanga . The rice was sour (old rice) and my chicken inside the "burrito" was watery. I ate thinking was normal. Left there and it's a no stopping bathroom use! My belly hurts and I couldn't sleep the entire night. Food poisoning!!!! I have been there before with no problems. Now, I will think twice in coming back! I would recommend to be really careful with the plates. I came here the other night for the birthday of a friend's daughter. The staff was very accommodating, and very nice. Unfortunately, the positives kind of end there. There is nothing inherently wrong with the food. It's just...not good. I hate to say that but it's true. The chips and salsa are tasteless. The salsa has no flavor. It's just very bland. I even tried the spicy salsa. It's the same thing. No taste, just spice. The most amusing thing is that they give you one bowl of chips and salsa. If you use that and want more chips? We were a table of 7, They brought one person the wrong food, a burrito instead of enchiladas and when we said something, they responded that "it's virtually the same". Well, according to the bill it was exactly the same as the burrito someone else had ordered because there were two burritos on the bill..two were delivered but only one had been ordered. I had fajitas which were delicious, but oddly they don't come with sour cream and a Sadie if sour cream is $1. I find it odd that this type of restaurant doesn't serve sour cream, I didn't mind paying for it, but let me know when I order so that I dont have to wait while my food gets cold. It took forever to get items that were asked for and to get our table cleared off. Came down here to take my grandma out as a pre-birthday dinner for her 100th(!!!) this weekend with my family. We were all visiting and didn't really know the area, but my mom recommended this place as she had been once before with my grandma and my grandma seemed to like it. Got there around 630 on Friday and the place was absolutely packed. We were told there'd be about a 30 minute wait so we got some Margaritas while we waited on the bench outside. Drinks were strong enough and a good price at $10/ea for the skinny marg. Once we were seated service was nice and fast. They were super accommodating to my grandma's requests and were patient when she needed some things repeated or couldn't hear them super well. Family ordered the guac and nachos which were both okay. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, which came with peppers onions and guac, salsa, cheese and tortillas on the side. Ended up not eating any of the sides, but was impressed with the shrimp and peppers. Came out piping hot on a cast iron plate, but ended up eating the entire plate. Other people in our party ordered the fish tacos, chimichanga, quesadilla, chicken fajitas and enchilada taco combo. Seemed like everyone though their food was alright and it was a good value for the amount of food you got. Let me start out by saying I adore La Bamba! I have been dining at the location in Margate for many many years, but only just now given a review since I joined Yelp. The food is always fresh hot and delicious and service is always quick and attentive. The restaurant itself is large and they have a separate full bar with some high top tables. The Margate location, has a back room for private functions, which we have held two baby showers and a 30th birthday party in. Service and food delivery is always fast. No matter when you visit it's always full of people and there is typically a wait for dinner and on weekends. That being said it is definitely worth it. I can't even say how many menu items I've tried, but my go to is always the Pepe Burro. A delicious cheesy burrito, packed with refried beans, chunk, beef, and mushrooms, topped with red sauce and of course, cheese ! Dinners are served with refried beans and rice. But I'm getting ahead of myself here. As soon as you sit down, staff is there to greet you with warm, freshly made tortilla chips and both mild and spicy salsa, I love, love, love their chips and salsa! The salsa is super fresh. If I do veer off my usual order of the Pepe Burro, I can honestly say there's not much that I have not enjoyed at LaBamba. The Cancun combination is also a favorite with a perfectly cooked crispy taco shell that you know is homemade, and an enchilada and chili relleno. Yum. The steak burro also receives high accolades from my husband as it is packed with large pieces of skirt steak. The Cuban dishes are amazing as well with my favorite being the MASA de Puerco. Nachos are big and plentiful and we've even had the chicken wings when the hubby was not in the mood for Mexican and those were delicious too. For dessert I recommend the fried ice cream, which is really just ice cream rolled in cornflakes and drizzled with caramel sauce, topped with whip cream and a cherry, but I just can't get enough of it! Really anything on the menu is good and you probably won't be disappointed. I've also been to their location in Delray and Plantation and the consistency with food and service is the same. I feel like no matter which location you visit, you will not be disappointed. There is a reason that La Bamba has been around for so long and has multiple locations. read more

This is the third out of the six La Bamba Restaurants I've had the pleasure of dinning at. Though I don't think very much of any of their margaritas as the mix always seems to have a certain commercial out of the bottle metallic taste, I've generally enjoyed their Mexican food, décor and general atmosphere of their restaurants. Plus I've always had a warm spot in my heart for them with their Federal Highway location having a gay night described by Trip Advisor as: "Monday nights when the Fort Lauderdale gay community adopts this Mexican restaurant as its second home.".And I might add that this started off when having a gay night was not much of an in or popular thing for a business to have. On this occasion I had one of their margaritas, which like I've had at their other locations, not all that good. But for food I had their "Baby Palomilla" which I found rather unusual as it is based upon a not all so common Tri-Tip cut of meat. And if you are unacquainted with it, you might want to try it as it is leaner than most other cuts as well as being richer and more meat robust in flavor. Indeed I found mine exceptionally delicious as it had been pounded tender, actually grilled and then topped with fresh chopped onions and cut parsley. As the tri-tip cut is generally credited with having been developed in California by BBQ pitmaster, Donna Fong you usually won't see it in the form served by La Bamba in Mexico. My wife abd I visited LA Bamba on Sunday, 23 years since she was there last. The service and food were still the same. Amazing! She had the steak fajitas and I had the chicken chimichanga. Both were large portions served hot with tender moist meat and good flavor. We started with the chips and salsa which were very good. I had unsweetened tea with a lemon wedge and she just had water. First of all, I want to say, that my family and I have been going to La Bamba Mexican Restaurant for over 10+ years. We have spent many birthdays and special occasions at this Sample & 441 location. Unfortunately, for us, it will be THE LAST TIME. Last night (4/24/21), I placed an online order at 7:35pm for (2) Steak Empanizado dinners. I completed my order, and was given an 8:36pm pickup time, ONE hour later. I didn't like the idea of having to wait that long, but I was having an Empanizado craving, so I decided to just patiently wait for my food. I picked up my food and headed home. As I sat down to eat my Empanizado, I quickly realized there was a HUGE piece of wire scrub pad lodged into my breaded steak. It was very noticeable, and I was horrified. I could not believe whoever fried this steak this didn't notice. Whoever packed my food didn't notice, and only I noticed, as soon as I opened the foam container. I cannot believe NO ONE noticed this huge piece of wire was literally cooked inside of my breaded steak. I could have choked on this, it could have pierced my throat. I literally could have died from eating this large piece of metal wire. How on earth does that happen? A large piece of wire? Was my streak dropped on the floor, then picked up & fried like that? Was my steak somehow in the dishwashing bay before being given to me, as my dinner? I guess I will never know. I was so horrified and disgusted by finding this piece of scrub pad wire in my steak. They make two types of salsa; spicy and mild. They are both good on their own, but if you mix the two together~delish. The servers are attentive but they don't smother you. All these years & excellent service every single time. I always enjoy myself when I am here. Mexican Pizza! Share this as an app or as your main dish, but whatever you do, definitely share it. This is one of my favorites; a crispy tortilla, refried beans, a ton of mushrooms, onions and peppers all covered with cheese. What's not to love? I usually stick with the Mexican menu, but I love the Ropa Vieja off the Spanish menu. It's a combo of shredded beef, onions & peppers simmered in an incredible light tomato sauce. Don't share this, get it just for you. It's that good. The Chimichangas are also good. I like the beef chunks (not ground beef) because it taste a lot like brisket to me and I love brisket. The steak fajitas are my go to dish & they can prepare them using less oil if you ask. I like the onions and peppers well done. Sometimes I skip the tortillas & just eat the steak and veggies. Less oil, no tortillas & practically no carbs. Super good & if you add salsa it becomes amazingly good. La Bamba is a family owned and operated business with five locations. Started in '88 and stronger than ever. Use the Yelp check in offer to save 10%. Located in the Peppertree Plaza near 441 & Sample Road, a few stores down from Office Depot. Guacamole appetizer was under flavored. Had to add salt and lime to feel as if it were a bit more authentic. All the food was really under flavored. Most disappointing part of this visit was when I asked for picante sauce they asked me if I wanted chipotle or cholula. Taco Bell has their own sauce; how does this place not have their own hot sauce? Wouldn't recommend this restaurant unfortunately. read more
