Resturant and coffee shop.

I can see why this place is highly rated! The food was hot and delicious. The sister store is Barnacle Espresso right next store.

note from the owner

Sadly - Friday June 20th 2025 the owners posted a message on Facebook that their delightful restaurant was not going to be open at this time. There was some discussion that the owners will come back with another concept at another time & date. We are saddened to see it go as their food was unforgettable and it's location on the spit central to the activities.

We stopped in early for breakfast and ordered chilaquiles with smoked salmon. The coffee is drip self serve. The chilaquiles were terrific and tasty - lighter than the traditional version that typically calls for chorizo! The service was great and we ate at the breakfast club's table since it was before 9:15 AM. The kitchen crew was calling out orders and playing great music behind the order counter. Every once in a while a song played and they all started singing. Very fun vibe. Looks like great sandwiches hot and cold on the menu, and you can get a breakfast or lunch box to go. Someone picked up an order for 20+ sandwiches while we were there. Also noticed they added fresh cookies and another goody to the display case. There are picnic tables for outside dining. Definitely worth a stop!

Oh man I think I have found my new favorite place to eat on the Homer Spit. The food was so fresh, and flavorful. Even my six year old finished his plate. Service was amazing. The staff were very friendly. Ambiance was amazing nothing like sitting in the restaurant and looking out over the ocean and the mountains. Definitely need to check this place out!!

Great spot for a quick breakfast. Was kind of sad that the next-door coffee wasn't open. They do offer drip coffee. I just really prefer cold brew. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sounds like they also offer to go lunchboxes if you you're going on a ship. Was happy to sit outside outside in the sun today as it's a gorgeous day in Homer

This is a great breakfast/lunch spot towards the end of the Spit. It's quite small inside, so count on waiting for a table or taking your order to go. After much deliberation my fiancé and I settled on a breakfast sandwich and eggs Benedict. But not before noshing on a blueberry sticky bun with our coffee! Everything tasted fresh and gourmet. I can't wait to come back.

The salmon clam chowder was terrific, really tasty. The salmon burger was good but I was not a fan of the bun, didn't have much taste and compressed easily. Salmon was good. Service was good.

Have enjoyed la Baliene for several years. Great food wonderful staff. A must stop for breakfast or lunch. You will be happy you did. We had Fisherman's breakfast, salmon eggs Benedict and a breakfast sandwich to start the day and everyone was very happy with their meal. If you want a fancy coffee stop next door at Barnacle Espresso. Otherwise just bottomless coffee is included with breakfast. Enjoy

Skillet. Pretty good but very salty.

Been here a couple times on visits to the Spit. Definitely one of the only and best full brunch spots out there. Food quality is solid, but nothing to get too excited over. On my most recent visit I had the breakfast skillet with the reindeer sausage. Both myself and another in our party who had the same dish commented about how salty it was. Not sure if it was the potatoes or everything, but it had way more than was needed. The eggs and veggies were good, but the sausage a bit underwhelming. Coffee has always been good, though a bit bummed they don't do anything decaf. Service always friendly as well.

Go! Go! Go! This is THE BEST cafe on the Homer Spit. Without question. Go! Lorraine and her team provide absolutely top-notch service! (Sweet lady, I hope I remembered your beams correctly. It's been a couple of weeks. I will be back!) I had to run in quickly to grab breakfast to go for a tour we had booked for the day. They were quick in turning it around and also in accommodating my dietary nuances. Even the packaging nuances needed. Our tour was going to be on a plane and we weren't going to be able to eat it for a couple of hours. We wanted it to stay hot and fresh, and also safe from spilling in our backpacks. They wrapped each part in its own containers and foil too. I ordered the burrito but made it a gluten free sandwich with scrambled eggs, no potatoes. They nailed it and it was divine! Everything there is made to order. If you have to wait 10 minutes- know it's worth it. The surprise was that our tour got cancelled, and the first thing we did was take our to-go order right back to the cafe so we could hang there, work some, plan our newly opened day, and soak it all in. It was so wonderful. The wifi was seamless, the coffee was delicious, and the food was still warm. We were only in Homer for 2 nights and for this cafe, I wish we could have stayed one more. I'll be back for sure. I didn't indulge, but the Bakery case was full of goodies. Gluten free carrot cake included! So many options! And, they even sell the day-old baked goods at a discount. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

Inside dining with coffee

We stopped here for breakfast our last day on the Homer Spit. We both had their special, which was French toast, potatoes, eggs and bacon. The food was very good and reasonably price. They also provide complementary coffee with breakfast.

I called in and left a message about reserving for dinner here sometime during mid day. Got a call…read moreback from Harrison(very fun and charming to talk to) little later, about how early we should get there to find a table, since he said they were booked out later in the evening. We got in about that time 5:30 or 6 ish and the place was quite empty. Obviously with all the construction outside, not a very pleasant looking place...the restaurant was also a bit dated and like I mentioned quite empty. However ee were seated at good table with a view of the lands end and also could watch the skillful bartender. We had Coconut prawns for appetizer and the prawns were huge with a great sauce but the coconut coating could have been better. Our kids had the mocktails of Honey Blossom and kenai colada and loved them both. My spurrita margarita was great and my husbands captains compass was also a very well made cocktail. For dinner we ordered the Alaskan fish & chips, Kachemak burger and Halibut Iliamana. The Iliamana had a nice crab dip sauce and the fish was perfectly cooked. Rice was a perfect company to it but the asparagus should have been trimmed, and hence wasnt very edible. Fish and chips were expectedly good. For dessert we shared the turtle cake and devoured it. Very good! Service was good enough.

The only reason I didn't give it four stars is because it's a bit spendy but the view, food, and…read moredrinks were fabulous. The artichoke and crab dip was delicious. The Alaskan crab legs were very good. The only thing that would improve it is if the butter had a warmer to keep it warm. The house salad and beet salad were both quite good. ( the half salad is big enough) They were quite busy but the service was still good.
