    Beef Stroganoff
    Wendy C.

I'd never been here before, but I saw a menu online (unfortunately it was a very old menu) and they didn't have the sandwich that husband wanted to order. The menu was slimmed down considerably from the one I'd saw online. Upon entering, it's more of a bar vibe, with live music. Kind of rustic looking, not really my cup of tea, but if the food was amazing I'd be happy. Anyway he ordered a meat lover pizza, I don't think that's the name of it, but it was along those lines. I saw they had Beef Stroganoff as the special, well I love Beef Stroganoff, so I ordered that, but was immediately anxious, as I make it myself at home with filet mignon, and over mashed potatoes, instead of noodles as they were using here. Now, I am adding this, as it's a phenomenon that almost always occurs when husband orders a pizza, and I don't. Whenever he gets a pizza, my food is almost always lukewarm at best. I hate tepid/lukewarm food, I really don't think I should suffer just because we have to wait for his stupid pizza. Serve me 1st, when mine is hot, or just wait to dish it up until his pizza is ready. Anyway, so this gargantuan pizza came out (Costco sized) And my fancy bowl of Beef Stroganoff which was plated very nicely I admit. Now, the good points are that I needn't have worried about the beef - it was tender, juicy and flavorful, just not hot. I cook my beef to a medium rare, this was slightly over, but still good. The noodles were ok (I like it with mashed potato best) the sauce was superb, creamy, tangy, and with a superb peppery afterbite. The amount of black pepper may have been too much for some, but I love black pepper and if I am offered it on pasta, with a fancy wooden grinder presented to me, I will glare at the server, till he thinks I'm weird. "Keep going, I need more pepper" anyway, for once, I was satisfied with the black pepper level in a dish. On the whole it was very good, just needed to be a few degrees hotter. He could only manage 3 slices of pizza (loser) and had to take a to go box. I didn't fancy any of the other menu items, so I probably wouldn't return, but if this Beef Stroganoff were always on the menu, well I'd definitely go back

This was by far the best food I tried in Homer!! Fast, hot, delicious, and well priced!! Wow!!! Exceeded expectations, and will definitely be returning until all menu items have been tried!!

1 open table when we walked in, a few needed to be cleaned, so we decided to sit at the bar. Glad we did!! Orion was so energetic and super enjoyable to be around. His service was great, very attentive. Pork rinds and cheese were pretty good. Sirloin was cooked perfectly. Now..... the Pork chop..... THAT was SO DELICIOUS and very cooked well! Also a Large selection of beers to help your thirst.

Fun place for local music, grabbing a drink, or one of their specials (this week was fresh Dungeness crab). This place is unique and has very friendly staff. You can tell they feel comfortable being themselves, and the crew of regulars were all friendly and welcoming the whole week we were in town. We had pizza to go one evening, and they definitely didn't skimp on the toppings.

Friendly service and with a smile The bartender/waitress was up front when saying it was only her and the cook so we needed to be patient and patient we were! Party of 6- all satisfied customers. Three ordered sliders, a po-boy, popcorn shrimp and fish and chips- and zero complaints all tasted good and we agreed we would go back. A lot of restaurants were closed when we went here, just that time of day so it was busy and again- the server was still smiling. Inside is more of a rustic, cowboy theme with a dance floor and disco ball. It may get a little rowdy later in the night. It's a place the locals go, so you know the food is good.

This is a longtime local hangout for the younger adults that like to drink, smoke weed, listen and dance to loud live and recorded music. If you fit in that demographic Alice's is for you but the food is definitely not a restaurant that you would take your family to unless it is breakfast or lunch. Even then the food is over priced and mediocre at best. We stopped there for lunch on a Tuesday when visiting Homer. I have been to Alice's during the evening to late hours many times 70's and 80's and didn't realize they served food. I admit that my views and experience are based on past history except for our recent visit. Although this visit was in the midday it gave me the feeling that the daylight did not change it for the better. I did notice that it had been remodeled somewhat and the bar was smaller and relocated opening more room for table, chairs, a ban stand and a very rough dance floor. They have an upstairs area with game tables and a railing over-looking the dance floor. The food was expensive for the quality and amount. The three Halibut Specials were $25 each. The Halibut was processed and breaded like you get in the grocery store. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The Steak was small but good and smothered in what appeared to be thick brown gravy and topped with a fried egg. The iced tea was the highlight of the meal. They have a full service bar serving all open hours and as the name implies they have several signature Champagne Cocktails. The waitress was friendly and efficient. She was busy serving what appeared to be mostly a local lunch crowd. Large free parking lot but be careful parking and walking in it as it is hilly and rough. If you want a lunch in Homer there are numerous better places to go.

It's a locals spot, great food, great service and good prices are the reason I'll be back at Alice's every time I'm in Homer.

Nice music venue, friendly people, good drinks, nice layout. Didn't get a chance to try the food so can't comment on that.

I thought the Buffalo Cod Sandwich would be a bit of a wild card, I was wrong, the sandwich was excellent.

Sooooo....It's okay. Chips and salsa are NOT complimentary. A basket of chips and two bowls of salsa wasn't terribly expensive at 4.50. But hot salsa wasn't available when we went. So they gave us two milds. The salsa tasted a little weird. I couldn't tell if an ingredient was missing or if there was some other funky aspect. Either way, I didn't eat many chips (which made the paying for it seem a little more frustrating). The queso appetizer was delicious. Great serving size and great flavor. Everyone at the table agreed and there wasn't any left at the end. Beer selection included a couple local craft beers and plenty of bottles. I was very happy with the Pacifico and lime I received. Service was friendly. So we're the couple on a date at the table next to us. They recommended food and drinks and told us all about places to visit in town. Apparently there are meaderys (meaderies?)open on town. Cool news! Overall, I was largely underwhelmed by the food and slightly chagrined by the chips and salsa cost.

Owners bought me a nice shot of tequila! So nice!
