Local here : Otter room has very good bar food and PBR on tap! I always recommend otter room for their prices.

We had a such a great time hanging out with Indiana and watching some football! Totally go here for a relaxing time with yummy food too!!

I ordered a Broken Taco Salad. I ordered it with ground beef. It was supposed to come with pico, salsa, sour cream, ground beef, and toasted tortilla chips. We all ordered our meals along with our appetizers. One of our party got his meal, then 15 minutes later the rest of us got our appetizers and our meals at the same time. My Broken Taco Salad was set befor me with no Salsa, no sour cream, and no pico. I asked for all of these things. I got salsa and sour cream. I asked for the pico, I was told they had none. The salad wasn't very appetizing but I tried to eat it. This taco salad was served with no cheese. Order at your own risk. read more

Sure wanted to go until I saw this: "Walking into the Otter Room at the Bidarka Best Western in Homer was like time travel back to 2019. Not only no masks on ANYONE, staff included, no signage regarding masks or masking, and since I was wearing a mask as I stood there waiting, I got some openly hostile glares and murmurs. I'm bummed because I used to recommend them to our out-of-town guests. Now, no more. Just a reminder on my personal policy -- if you can't figure out a mask with a customer present, how can I trust you to wash you hands in the bathroom solo? Service was great, Rhonda was amazing and gave us good recommendations on the menu and where else to eat which was sweet. Definitely bar food. I had the otter burger and was pretty good for a bar burger. Had the cheese curds one night and they were great. Right next to the best western hotel so that was nice. It was like dive/local bar. I was ignored by the two waitresses who served orders while I stood in the middle of the main area. The cook had to acknowledge me. The took they're time serving the other customers instead of running my card or prepping my food that was cooling on the counter. After getting home and taking a bite found that the vegetables were half rotten. Needless to say I lost my appetite. Very disappointing. read more

Good drinks but horrible service. Bartender was short and unfriendly. When he came to the table to see if we wanted more drinks.. I asked to close the tab and was told that it would have to wait and he walked away... food was also a 45 min wait. read more

The Homer Porter was a good beer. We were excited to be in Homer, Home of great Halibut! I order a halibut dinner. It was awful. Undercooked piece of fish that was ice cold in the middle. Told the waitress and she replied ... "Oh, like sushi ...". The otter room was really a disappointment for dinner. The true locals will know where to go for fresh fish! read more

This grill is part of the Best Western Bidarka Inn. I met some friends who were having a little bit of everything off the app menu. I wanted something more substantial and opted for the "hand carved" ribeye steak dinner. It came with soup, salad, Texas toast, and a baked potato. The sides were fine, but the showcase was the steak. They get their beef from McNeil Canyon Meats, a local company. I always order rare since I feel that anything past medium rare makes for a piece of shoe leather. My steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I hadn't expected that of a grill like this, and I was pleasantly surprised. I lived in Homer for six years, and I have to say that this was the best steak I've ever had in this hamlet. We just finished our meal and I can honestly say that it is the worst meal that I have had at a restaurant in many years, and I travel a great deal for work. We came here as we are in the adjacent hotel. It is taco Tuesday so I ordered carne asada soft tacos and an order of onion rings. The onion rings came first. The breading was so thick that although crunchy on the outside, it was not cooked on the inside. They had apparently been cooked in oil that was not hot enough and the oil actually pooled in the wax paper in the bottom of the basket. The soft tacos arrived. The soft shells were stale enough that the edges cracked when folded and were very dry. The meat, what little there was was very, very tough. My companion ordered the regular beef tacos and commented that there was no taco spice on the ground meat, she only tasted black pepper. I eat out 75-80 dinners each year and this is the first time I felt a need to publish a rating this bad on any restaurant. read more

Husband n I ate dinner there. He had New York steak it was so so. I had hamburger n fries. Why does everyone in homer put their ketchup in the fridge? Weird. It's ok. Although bartender was polite some patrons were obnoxious. read more

I have been staying at this inn for several days and this is the first time I have eaten in the Otter Grill. I ordered the Grilled Otter Burger, 1/2# with grilled onions, Swiss cheese, fries. The burger was greasy-spoon quality, lots of limp overcooked fries. The Grill part is in conjunction with the lounge, 1 wait person, lounge was busy so service was rather slow. She had a strong odor of alcohol, I'm now a nondrinker so that wasn't in anybody's favor. I don't regret the $12.50 + tax if for no other reason than learning I won't be going back because I have eaten at some good restaurants here in Homer. read more

we love their buffalo wings we are from NYS and have not found anything good enough in AK until the Otter Room!!! Their bar food is what we order when we go for a drink and the fireplace adds the ambiance!! We like it! read more
