Aside the "new" owner and the rising prices, the quality and taste of the bagel and sandwiches have always been good, but the coffee, what has happened? It's always been consistent and flavorful, but in the last two weeks, it's had a burnt taste and an aftertaste like milk that is just going off. As a seven-day-a-week customer, I used to go back and buy a second large cup, but no more. It's no better or worse than coffee at 7-11. Customer service is horrible. The short lady with bangs was extremely rude. The food is overpriced, and the prices constantly change for the exact same items. Customer service is not about arguing with customers over 50 cents or a dollar. The money was never the issue. I simply wanted clarity on why I was charged four different prices for the same item on different occasions. Instead of properly explaining the pricing, honoring the last price I paid, and simply clarifying the correct price moving forward, the situation turned completely unprofessional. I even called the other employee who previously charged me so she could explain the pricing difference. Instead, the lady with bangs began screaming at and belittling her over a 50-cent difference. The strawberry cream cheese here is very light and fluffy. The cream cheese with smoked salmon bits was okay. I was in the mood for bagels and found this place by chance. What a gem. There are SO many bagel choices , subs , etc. my bagel was fresh and the cream cheese was quality cream cheese. But you should go early if you can because it's a popular spot and they run out of some items quickly 2) the service is fast! I'm really torn about this review because I've been to this restaurant a total of three times. The first time was a few years ago and I don't remember loving it. But, upon a few recommendations more recently, I decided to give it another try. In the past couple weeks, I came here twice and both experiences were different. The first time I came, the bagel was really amazing; it had a crispy outside and soft inside, it was large in size, and tasted very fresh. The second time, I came back, again around the same time in the morning, and the bagel was smaller and not as crispy or fluffy. Both times I ordered the same thing which was an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Even the cream cheese was different the second time...there were barely any scallions the second time and the cream cheese just tasted very plain. I'm confused about the consistency of the two experiences but I'll be back again since it's so close to where I live, I think I'll give it a few more tries before I decide to either become a loyal customer or abandon hopes of it being good, consistently. This earned three stars from me purely because I did really enjoy my bagel the first time. We stopped in here quickly to get a bite to eat and I think it ended up being a mistake that we came an hour before La Bagel closed. When we walked in, we were told that we couldn't order off of the hot options menu. I was really feeling a panini so I was a bit disappointed. They really turned off the grill//panini press with a hour still left to go before they closed? Weird. We opted to get the Turkey Bacon club and it was okay but nothing special. Going into the store, it was pretty clean and straight forward. I had ordered a wheat everything bagel with bacon, egg and cheese. I used to go to la bagel all the time. I live down the street. I'm not sure what happened if they changed owners or not but i am done with them.
