    HK style tea cafe in a plaza on Alexandra Rd. They mostly serve HK style western food combos, so plates of steak, chops etc. Some of them comes with your choice of drink, starch and/or dessert. Was pretty busy on a holiday. We got a couple of different things. Their signature "Cajun" chicken thigh was probably the best out of the bunch. It's "Cajun" because they used some chili powder, but definitely milder than actual Cajun flavors. I liked that the skin is crisp, and the insides are juicy. We also had beef shortribs with dark sauce and it was decent. Also one of us ordered steak which was a small piece of strip steak, and that was alright. It's $20 something to $30 something per combo before tax and tip. Portions are pretty good. We finished all the food.

    Why was I wrong to judge this restaurant It was very good I was very surprised We had the late night menu portion sizes were very good Drinks were excellent I had the beef brisket soup with vermicelli the soup was very clean tasting very light and delicious it was on the smaller side I had a lemon tea and it was excellent Is brisket with a little tough My dad had steak with a Demi peppercorn sauce we princess with spaghetti and rice I tried his sauce and it was very tasty And the meat look very tender He also did the $3.50 upgrade to get a Is boost soup I think he really enjoyed it My brother had I think it was pork cutlets with a similar sauce and spaghetti He also had a ginger tea and my father had a Hong kongstyle tea and coffee I have to say this the service was excellent the waitress was very cute the way she talked to my dad The waitress got everything correct on the inside of this restaurant was very nicely designed Is seats for supercomfortable Would I go back 100% They're chili sauce is very nice and they're soy was very nice tasting as well

    This is a very clean Hong Kong-style restaurant with an expansive menu. Their lunch special options are reasonably priced and of very good quality. The ribeye that I ordered was tender and beefy. Even the spaghetti that came with the steak was well seasoned! My friend recommended this place to me and I have recommended it to others in turns!

    Four stars granted for the delicious dessert time enjoyed at Amigo restaurant with my amigo :) We ordered the Cantonese style French toast 法蘭西多士 and the fresh fruit crepe. Awesome dessert combo of sweet chocolate rich flavors with lighter fruity tasting pastry item. Since we were already in Richmond, thought it would be easy to find places with Cantonese style French toast dessert. But we soon discovered many Cantonese cafe are closed by 6pm or 9pm on week nights. Luckily, Internet search led us to Amigo, with posted closing time at 11pm. Parking in Richmond is usually very convenient and this place is located in a plaza with plenty of free spots. We arrived around 930pm and servers welcomed us, saying we are fine as last call is around 1030pm. Friendly service always adds an extra star in my books of reviews. And yes, Amigo totally satisfied the French toast cravings. Loved their chocolate lava style filling inside the French toast, loved the French Toast texture, loved the sprinkled cocoa presentation and love our dessert pairing with fresh fruits crepe. Happy ending indeed~! I like their clean layout and warm ambiance. This place offers the usual diverse menu of an HK cafe with many Chinese dish options of seafood, rice and noodles so I hope to be back for real foods next time!

    Can't believe this is my first visit here! We ordered Thai Style Chicken Fried Rice, the classic Beef Rice Noodles, and my friend had a Black Cod set meal which came with soup, garlic bread and a dessert. Everything was delicious and portions were big. Service was polite and very speedy.

    I came here for lunch recently. In terms of food, I tried their Blackened Chicken Meal. The meal came with a drink, soup, and dessert. The iced milk tea, lobster cream soup, banana crepe, and the blackened chicken were all pretty good.The iced milk tea and crepe were not overly sweet, the soup was comforting and had nice flavour, and the blackened chicken was crispy with enough flavour.

    Looking for a dessert place that offers French toast and opens late in Richmond was surprisingly challenging on a Monday night. After 20 min. of Google/Yelp search, we finally found one - La Amigo Restaurant (雅谷餐厅) It didn't disappoint. Cozy ambiance and attentive staff. We really enjoyed what we ordered.     We started off with the chicken curry ($15.50). It came with a large side of rice but we decided to mix the two together so that the curry sauce could soak into the rice. The curry was mild and filled with potatoes, chicken, and onion. We enjoyed the coconut notes of the curry and it was even better with the rice. It could have used a bit more spice but otherwise, it was pretty good. The other dish we got was the baked Portuguese chicken with rice. We both expected the dish to come with tomato sauce but it came with a yellow sauce instead? Neither of us were sure what the sauce was made up of exactly because there wasn't a distinct flavor to it. Even though it was Portuguese chicken, it was nothing like what you would find at Nando's. In addition to chicken, the dish also had slices of hot dogs, tomatoes, bell pepper, potatoes and olives. An interesting mix of toppings but it was surprisingly alright.

    This is a HK style cafe but with a Macau twist I think. It has Macau version of curry instead of HK style curry. First of all, their prices are like Copa Cafe so you'd think there'd be a little more quality in their food, but it's not. I don't think the food reflects the price at all. I came at lunch time and ordered one of their lunch specials. I forgot what it was called. It was like "ying yang fried rice" like at all the other HK style restaurants, but with a different name. It was the first one of their lunch special list. It comes with garlic bread, soup (choice of HK borsht or cream soup), and drink. Garlic bread had about a 1 inch radial spread and that was it. Not crispy, just room temperature and soft. The cream soup was not creamy at all. Had small bits of ham. Definitely not as much stuff as other restaurants. The fried rice came with half tomato/shrimp sauce, and half Macau style chicken curry. I have been to many HK style restaurant here in Vancouver and and in HK and they make the Macau "Portuguese style curry" and this tasted nothing like it. Granted, I've only been to Macau 3 times but I've never tried their curry. I assumed HK would make the same as Macau since we are beside each other. Anyways, it was salty, lacked flavor, very little pieces of chicken. The tomato sauce side had a fair amount of shrimp, but no tomato taste. Everything didn't seem to have much of the original taste, but just salty taste. We also ordered an appetizer - smoke salmon with fruit salad. I assumed a fruit salad would come as canned fruit mixed with mayo like at all HK style restaurants. This place was just honeydew and cantaulope. It was gross. Almost $10 for 2 pieces of smoke salmon and melons. Nothing taste like anything I've ever eaten before at a HK style restaurant before. Expensive for the low quality food. Food has no taste. Will not come here again.

    Stopped by for a quick afternoon snack, this is a well established Hong Kong Style Steakhouse. They offer a lighter menu from 2:30 - 5:00pm / 9:00pm - closing. We ordered 2 items: Beef Brisket with Rice Vermicelli in Soup, the beef is slightly chewy, soup base is very well balanced and not salty. 3/5 stars Singapore Fried Rice Vermicelli, this is a classic HK style cafe item and was done well, not greasy, with the right level of spice from the curry paste they use to fry the vermicelli. 3/5 stars Both item can be had with coffee or tea, we choose Iced Lemon Tea. They really outshine a lot of these type of Cafes by using good quality tea to make their Iced Tea!! Worth coming just because of their tea! Service is the no non-sense HK Cafe style. Parking can be an issue in this busy mall, but after the lunch rush, its usually better!

    My coworkers have been local Richmondites for decades and insists La Amigo is the best HK cafe in the area. Apparently this place is super busy during afternoon tea time (2pm-4 pm), but it was fairly empty when we had lunch at 1 pm. We all ordered the set lunch for $14.95 (a bit more expensive than other cafes) which included a soup, garlic bread, drink, and a main. First up was the cream soup with ham and corn. This was quite good, didn't taste overly starchy or watered down. The garlic bread came soon after and it had a nice crispy edges with a soft middle. Not a bad start. For the main, I chose the grilled chicken with garlic sauce with rice (you can also choose spaghetti). There were two large pieces of chicken leg, crispy skin and very moist, with a bed of corn and rice. I thought this was quite well executed and I was super full. The hot milk tea I got was pretty good and silkier than the recent ones I've been getting at Red Bud Cafe or Happy Date. I can't quite say that this is the best HK cafe in Richmond given that I've only tried one thing so far, but I've had a good first experience. I'll think about coming again for their afternoon specials.

    For a Hong Kong Style cafe, La Amigo is a bit pricier, more expensive but also has some unique dishes. We used to come quite often as many of their choices come with soup and a dessert. As a family of four, we tried out three of the "meals" and one dish. Their very popular cajun style baked chicken was my order and it came with two huge pieces of chicken thigh lightly spiced and accompanied by rice, spaghetti or fries. This was quite good being juicy and flavourful but a little bit on the expensive side. The rest of my family ordered the steak set, baked seafood with rice and a pan fried sablefish with jambalaya rice dish. Set meals came with garlic toast and soup as well (cream or "borscht") and a mango pancake which really had too much cream. All were large portions and tasted fine but came with higher prices than other similar restaurants. Overall, I'm not a lover of this type of food in the first place so I wouldn't choose this restaurant for my first pick but the food is quite good and there isn't usually a wait.

    Came here with Vincent N. to see what this was all about, with the 4.5 stars was about. Parking may or may not be sufficient in the lot out front. Depends on which day you come. I must say that it's a bit unusual to have a HK-style cafe with a Mexican theme, but they manage to pull this off somewhat tastefully. The walls are a bright yellow, and the decorations look *somewhat* authentic. I had the Thai style chicken salad. This was.. different. It was definitely creative, but it also had the taste of rubber gloves for some reason. The chicken is really some breaded cutlet (similar to tonkatsu), and the salad "dressing" is plum sauce. It would've worked, but that glove taste overwhelmed everything, making me slightly sick as I ate the thing. Maybe i got unlucky. Since nobody else seemed to have this problem, maybe it's a one-off. But because of this, I'm not sure I'll be back.

The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. On a typical Sunday evening, the restaurant is usually fully occupied, but my friend had thoughtfully made a reservation a week in advance, so our table for five was ready upon arrival. As always, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, with good airflow thanks to the wide-open front entrance facing the parkade. The front desk receptionist greeted us cordially, and we were escorted to a cozy table in a comfortable location -- not too close to the washrooms, which I appreciated. Our meal began with the Kirin Special Assorted Cold Appetizer, followed by Crab Meat, Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw Soup. The soup arrived piping hot and was delicious, with a generous portion that could easily have served eight people. We also enjoyed Pea Tips Braised with Bean Curd and Assorted Mushrooms in Consommé, Marinated Free-Range Crispy Skin Chicken, Fillet of Cod Sautéed with Seasonal Vegetables, and Live Crab in Consommé with Ginger and Green Onion, served with E-fu Noodles. Overall, the quality and taste of every entrée were excellent. Service was top-notch -- tea and hot water were refilled constantly, bones and used plates were replaced promptly, and the servers were friendly and engaging throughout the evening. My friend and his family have apparently been regulars at this location for over two decades, which likely contributed to the exceptional attentiveness we received. However, one aspect of the experience genuinely disturbed me. All servers, including the captains, continued to wear masks at all times. While this practice was understandable two years ago, now -- five years after the onset of the pandemic, with COVID-19 managed similarly to other seasonal respiratory illnesses -- the continued universal masking in a fine-dining environment feels unnecessary and detracts from the overall guest experience. Fine dining, in my view as an avid foodie, is built on human connection, hospitality, and personal interaction. Masks create a more impersonal, almost clinical atmosphere. In a well-ventilated space like this, the environmental risk does not seem to justify the visual and social trade-off. Rather than providing reassurance, the persistent masking may unintentionally signal that the environment is unsafe or that management is out of step with current provincial health guidelines, where masking is now a personal choice rather than a mandate. Final verdict: Food & Service: 5/5 Ambience: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 -- as the current aesthetic feels more like a relic of 2020 than a leader in 2026 hospitality.

No round tables - only smaller square tables - which means it's better designed for small groups rather than large groups. We ended up trying a number of items: - Beef Belly Skewers: Very good. Everyone loved them. I wished we had ordered more. - Chicken Skewers: Ok. I think asked for something but they ran out and gave us gizzards and hearts, which are never good because they become mealy and not enjoyable to eat. - Dungeness Crab with Salty Egg Yolk: Good. Prepared as well as lots of restaurants. They provide disposable gloves to eat with, but nothing to crack the shells. - Stir Fried Vegetables: Good. No complaints. - Fresh Fish with Tofu Hot Pot: Very good. - Fresh Fish Steamed: Very good. - Lobster with Sticky Rice: Very good. Service is really very good. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.

Prices are like food court prices but restaurant quality level. The only thing that needs to be improved is service. For Sunday lunch time service, only 1 server was working the till, taking and serving orders, and grabbing the check. Everything slowed down considerably. You had to get your own napkins, sauce dishes, sauces, chili oil etc. so had to take 1 star away. But the quality of the food was enough to make it a 4 star review. The rice rolls were of the perfect texture. Generous servings too. The popcorn chicken was salty and savoury with friend basil As well. Very nice touch. I would repeat. Cheers! Happy eating!

Finally! A place that doesn't charge you $5 for a fried dough stick. It was ok - a little on the dense side The wontons were not good. The wontons and soup had no flavor. The cold noodle fen pi was really good. Perfect amount of vinegar and savory. I wish there were more vegetables, so I'm not eating noodles 90% of the time. I would come back for the rice noodle and cold noodle and maybe try their congee next time.
