Their halo halo is WORTH it! Definitely perfect for the summer time Chicharon bulaklak was missing something and it was cold when served but the suka was super spicy which we LOVED. -1 star. A little nice smile would've been nice though and acknowledgement when entering the restaurant would've been nice though. I said hi first, but the worker was on the phone, looked at me, no "hello" or "welcome", and turned around into the kitchen. Then I was helped by another lady who didn't seem so friendly. Being filipino too you'd expect that warm friendly welcome that you usually experience at other pinoy restaurants. I'd just say they probably had a long day that day. But we will definitely come back and try again when we're visiting Bakersfield! read more

Great food and easy to place an order for pick up. Welcoming staff. Parking is never a problem.

Big disappointment!!! I haven't been able to get filipino food for awhile due to my budget. Still really shouldn't have yet I have been very conservative lately and not bought food out for months. Craving their Dinuguan and they had Pork Kare Kare so I tried it and of course couldn't forget the pansit. Food did not have much flavor and Kare Kare had only 1piece of pork with a huge bone in it the area circled with red is the meat everything else was fat, skin or bone, 1 slice of egg plant and maybe 3 green beans, to top it off a hair in my pancit. To think I paid $35.00 for this when I really shouldn't of. I take it as my sign from God to just make my own even though it takes work. I could of had a few meals that way. For someone who used to love going here, I don't think I will do it again. At least the guy that helped me was nice. read more

This Filipino restaurant is underrated. This place has been here for years. The name changed a few times, but I believe it's still the same family. The place has updated over the years to look more modern, but for the most part it still looks the same. For my 20th year wedding anniversary 5yrs ago I ordered some lechon & pompano for my kamayan and it was delicious. My favorite fish is pompano and they sell the fried big ones or the fried smaller ones at a good price. If you're worried about trying Filipino food, you should check it out because they have the food out like Panda Express and you can just point w your finger or your lips haha. We haven't gotten food this year yet, but we should be visiting soon. In 2023 we've probably ordered take out several times since we're always craving dinuguan. The pinakbet was bomb, but my only gripe was that they only gave a few pieces of meat and I wanted more bite. Staff is not always super friendly. Probably because nga English English ka me and ang asawa ko mestizo kag hindi marunong ma sagut kang Tagalog. It's okay... I get it. For the most part on a good day they are okay. Food is really good if you don't feel like cooking at home! read more

Food is always great!!! Best Filipino food in Bakersfield. Taste is great and authentic with their service too. Servicer is very kind and gave extra soup. Love love their desserts too. Amazing always. Been eating here more than 10 yrs now. read more

Service was good but food could have been better. They need to hire a good filipino food cook.

Unwelcoming First Impression This was my first time ever coming to Philippine Cuisine -- not as a customer dining in, but to pick up an Uber Eats order. The customer left a note asking to make sure everything was included, so I politely asked the lady behind the counter if the order was complete. Instead of giving a simple response, she gave me attitude and didn't even acknowledge my question. That kind of interaction left a bad impression, and honestly, based on that attitude alone, I doubt I'll ever come back to try the food myself. First impressions matter -- especially when you're representing the restaurant. read more

After years, I thought they'd be better in cost and quantity and thought I'd pop in since I was passing through. But NOPE! I never learn! This is near $10. Just the entre. So, no, they are worse with cost to quantity. Won't go there again. read more

Food is always delicious and service is amazing!! My boyfriend and I's go to Filipino spot here in bako.

Ordered chicken adobo for my granddaughters college graduation on Dec 13 for about 15 ppl. It was not acceptable. Chicken had hardly any meat mostly bones that was cut into smaller pieces. Not good with small pieces of bones. Don't order chicken unless you can see how it's prepared. read more

Tucked away in a quiet strip mall, a couple doors down from a pizza parlor, you would probably never know this place existed here. And unless you're a Pinoy craving some Filipino home cooked meal, a Pinoy too busy to cook for yourself, or married to a Pinoy, you would probably never come and eat here. And no, you will not find Filipino spaghetti or Filipino fried chicken here. At least not the kind that Jollibee serves that has amassed a cult following. What you will find here is authentic Filipino cuisine. The kind of food your Lola (grandma) or Nanay (mom) made at home. But let's be honest for a sec here. We all know that out of all the Asian cuisines, Filipino food doesn't garner the attention of the masses in the way Chinese, Thai or Vietnamese cuisine does. But growing up, this is the kind of food I ate as a child. And as an adult, this is the kind of food that when eaten, gives you that warm nostalgic sense of comfort. The restaurant ambiance is casual. There's a hot table with dishes to choose from, meant to be eaten with white rice, but don't expect the dishes to be nicely labeled like Panda Express. More than likely, the dishes will be unfamiliar and might seem like they all look or taste the same. However, I guarantee that if you said adobo (chicken or pork), barbecue stick, beef steak, pancit (noodles) and caldereta, what you'll end up before you is a nice array of the classics. All of this will be served with rice and maybe if you asked, a bowl of sinigang broth (sour soup). If you're feeling adventurous, try the dinuguan (stew made with pork, blood and seasonings). Before you judge, this is actually good because there is no liver and no irony taste. I was skeptical because as a child I always shied away from this dish but now, I almost always order this dish each time. If that's not your jam, they always seem to have on hand a variety of fried dishes--whether it be fish, pork belly or pata (shank) or dilis (baby smelt fish). However, don't forget to ask for the spicy vinegar sauce. For desserts, they may have turon, biko, puto, cassava cake, or flan on any given day. And last but not least...what I really come here for is my childhood favorite called halo-halo. Halo-halo literally translates to "mix-mix" and probably what most would consider the official dessert of the Philippines. It's a cold dessert made up of sweetened red or black beans, coconut jelly, gulaman (colorful agar jelly), buko (coconut jelly), sweetened banana or jackfruit, topped with shaved ice, evaporated milk, a scoop of flan and ube ice cream. Use the tall spoon they give you and go to town mixing the ingredients in the glass. On a hot Bakersfield day, this is what you need to satisfy that sweet tooth. And trust me when I say, this is the most authentic as it comes to what you normally have in the motherland. read more

Nice home cooked meal. Good selection, clean bathroom. Nice pit stop after the grape vine.

I recommend their pork barbecue although price is kinda expensive compared to other Filipino restaurants. I guess beggers cannot be chosers because there are not a lot of Filipino restaurants in Bakersfield. However, my low rating is more because the staff here are not welcoming and I've been here multiple times in the past with different servers. Feels like they are annoyed whenever we buy food here. I suggest saving a few bucks and going to the Chinese buffet across the street. read more

Every time I miss home, I come to this restaurant. I love the fried fish, sisig and pork satay. I had them for to go this morning.

Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 - # 81/100 Oh shut the front door. The best tasting jeprox (fried crispy fried fish) ever. That's all you need with rice and spicy vinegar for dipping. This is a turo-turo (literally means "point-point") type of fast food Filipino joint. You point and choose what you want and take it to your table. Their pancit bihon (rice noodle) was really good too. Sister and my son enjoyed their Lechon kawali (deep fried pork belly) and mom liked the sautéed bitter gourd. It was an inexpensive yet filling stop for lunch in the Bakersfield area. read more

We came in for some desserts to go while waiting for pizza next door. The food looked great, but the desserts looked so great that I had to pick up a few items. Purchased Turon, about $0.75 each. Also a biko slice, pichi pichi, and pastillas (they had mango or ube flavors). All this was $18.40. It costs much less in Delano, but this is where it looks fresh in Bakersfield. Previously, we ordered lechon for a baptism and it was a hit. People loved seeing the whole roasted pig. read more

L Philippine Cuisine - Do u see the dryness on it disappointed. - Filipino Near Me - Bakersfield, California

I guess we were shocked when we got our food. A 4 star Yelp review usually means you can trust a place. Not today I guess. Everything lacked flavor and was just made was the cheapest meat possible. We had pansit, chicken adobo, some jalapeno chicken, rice, pork adobo, and 2 meat sticks. It was $32 for 2 people (before tip) and way more than half of it went in the trash. And the biggest let down was that we went for the pansit and meat sticks that others had posted only to find out these are both "speciality" items that we had to buy separate. Waste of money on the meat sticks-one pork, one chicken right in the trash. Thank goodness the pansit was ok. It really was the redemption of the meal. The rice was mush but we ate it so there was something in our guts. I HATE leaving low reviews, but I really hate showing up some place thinking it's going to be awesome and being disappointed. I don't want you to have that experience. read more

Back open last week of Feb 2021! Grabbed some take out items. Goat stew - excellent. young goat (you can tell by the size of the pieces and the size of the bones) tasty and tender. Chocolate meat was good. Note to self - when I warmed it up in the microwave the next day I think I evaporated too much liquid and got more of a vinegar taste than I did the first time. Reheat on the stove next time. About 3:30 PM. no wait. I drove by just to see if they had open. Another note - like many legit immigrant cuisines, the accents of the staff are heavy. Extra tough to understand through the masks. But then - that's part of the beauty of the experience. I didn't ask about dine in but it appears a few tables were set up. #PinoyForADay read more

This spot hits home. I'm from the east coast and have moved out here for about a month now, so of course I'd be in search of my cultural eateries. Sure enough and I believe it's the only one in the area but regardless have been my go to spot for Filipino food. The food here is like moms home cooking. Yummy in my tummy! The pork adobo, the bitter melon dish, the fried fishes, the bbq and many more are sooo damn tasty. The price is worth every bite. Highly recommend. read more

Chose this spot randomly from my yelp list and I am glad we did. We are on a cross country road trip and I was looking for something that was quick but not fast food. L Philippine Cuisine has a fantastic food that tastes like a homemade meal! I received rice, chicken skewer, and lechon - I would order everything again! I also got Halo Halo because I have always wanted to try it and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for it and it did not disappoint - it has beans, vegetables, jello with fruit (i think?), shaved iced with evaporated milk, ube ice cream, and flan - not a mixture I would normally put together but it surprisingly works! Staff are super friendly and more than happy to explain things to you. Storefront and location may feel intimidating but don't let that deter you from going in! #supportlocalbusinesses read more
