I'd definitely go back! Waiter suggested a Super Tuscan wine which did not disappoint. Delish. Two of us ordered the octopus starter for our main meal--tho only 1 was initially delivered. The second serving came with an apology. No problem. Poo poo happens. In the meantime we and our guest had tzatziki and warm pita while we waited for her meal. Quite good. Octopus was generously sized, tender, with red pepper sauce and another sauce (I think it was hummus) along with a bit of romaine salad and potato slice. Another in the party had lamb kabob with couscous. He asked for the lamb to be cooked medium but I would have requested medium rare cuz it was a bit dry. This was the first time having dinner at this restaurant and hopefully many more! The decor is cheerful and welcoming as is the staff. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had the cheese roll ups for appetizer with tzatziki on the side and lamb shish kabob with bulgar rice and grilled veggies for dinner. I rarely eat my entire entree but I did that evening. The lamb was so tender and the bulgar was cooked perfectly. We were full after dinner but still enjoyed a piece of baklava - sweetened just enough. Our waiter was friendly! We had a fabulous dinner at L'Olive this evening. Co-owner Paul and his wife Katy are the perfect hosts. A great menu and the food was presented well and delicious. This restaurant will rival most of the 4 star restaurants in Venice. Good value and good location. Once this restaurant catches on, it will be difficult to get reservations. read more

Lunch here again. Great gyro with a salad. White tablecloth and attentive waiter. Soft music playing. I go with the folks but I can see this as a date night. Lunch menu is less expensive than dinner with smaller portions. We usually eat everything at lunch and take leftovers at dinner. Had a baba ganoush appetizer. Highly recommend it read more

Small , strip mall restaurant with maybe 20 tables nicely decorated and very clean and efficient, Service and food were excellent....octopus, dolmades, lamb chops and a nice beef dish.....all perfectly done and very tasty. I'm only sorry that this is my first time dining here. Thank you! read more

This place is new and different for Venice and very charming. It is Mediterainian Cuisine upscale but not stuffy. We had a salad and appetizer and it was more than enough to be our meal. The Spinach/Beet Salad is amazing. It is perhaps one of the best and most unique salads I have had in a long time. My dad had a Greek salad and loved it as well, We shared a calamari and Shrimp Saganaki. Both were delivcious. Portions are extremely generous. The chef/ owner made it a point to visit tables and check on us and converse with each patron. We were there early on a Saturday evening so we were seated with no problem but the place is smallish and reservations are recommended. We will definitely return!! read more

My wife and I had dinner at L'Olive for the first time last night. We had the Branzino and the Gyro Platter. Food, service and ambiance were excellent. The reason for the 4 star rating is pricing. The two dishes without drinks, appetizers, salad or desert was $68.48 prior to tip. At around $45 I would have rated L'Olive 5 stars. We will not be going back. We are a retired couple who vacations in Venice Florida every January. Unfortunately, we have come to conclusion that Venice Florida is no longer affordable for retired folks on a fixed income to enjoy a dinner out. read more

Recently found this lovely place! I loved the ambiance and it was unexpected for right here in Venice! I brought my mom for her birthday dinner. The service was excellent and Cem was attentive to all our needs. Our dinner was delicious and we were certainly impressed with the service as well as our meal. The mushroom ravioli was AMAZING as well as shrimp skewer and appetizers like the Greek Salad. So glad to have a Mediterranean restaurant Venice- everything was STELLAR! read more

What a wonderful dining experience for our monthly ladies dining group! Everything was top-notch from the moment we entered this beautiful and clean restaurant. The service was excellent, the food was fresh, served quickly and delicious and the staff was friendly and accommodating. (One lady has special dietary needs which they were willing to work with.) Finally got around to checking this place out - we liked the extent of the menu and the assorted offerings . Lots to choose from here, and a lot of things you'll not find in many other spots in these environs . We had a reservation and were promptly seated at the table closest to the front door on a busy weekend night . Service here is quick and good if a bit perfunctory - we never saw as much as a smile from anyone working here . Hey - they're working at making your visit a good one I guess - right ? We had the nice eggplant app from the cold offerings and it was delicious . They give a nice plate of sliced pita and some olive tapenade to start things off and the extra pita made for little 'plates ' to enjoy the diced eggplant too . The seafood tagliatelle pasta I had was delicious - nicely seasoned for sure . The tarragon topped it off for sure . I had a couple of the bottled beers . Nothing on draft here and the sole local offering is a Jai Alai which is a bit too grapefruit forward . The room is very loud . A lot of hard surfaces and the walls left and right call out for some comfy booths . We'd come back here without a doubt . Lots to try . You should too . read more

L'Olive - Octopus appetizer - Mediterranean Near Me - Venice, Florida

When the restaurant first opened I ordered the octopus, and it was delicious. We went there just recently and it wasn't the same the octopus was very tough and the price went up. I told him I was unhappy and I thought he would take it off the bill or at least apologize and offer a free dessert but he did nothing except to tell me they had new food suppliers. We will never be back to L'Olive. read more

Loved everything about this restaurant. This was our first time here and actually entered by accident. Two restaurants are next door to each other. Very glad we chose this one. Nice white linen tables. Great, friendly and efficient service. Complimentary Appetizer of olive tempanade and warm pita was delicious. Beet salad was perfect to split and delicious. Mild balsamic dressing with figs, orange slices and goat cheese sprinkles. I had fresh mushroom ravioli that had the most delicious sauce, so rich and creamy. My husband had a shrimp, artichoke fettuccini that he enjoyed. A wonderful experience. We will definitely return. read more

Very friendly staff & service, lovely indoor decor. My spouse & I were just very surprised to see Butter, vs just olive oil & herbs, vegetables etc. on some of the dishes , as well as the fact that there were no dishes that came with rice ( instead they use couscous or bulgar wheat ) ~ when we think Mediterranean food we think ~ healthy~ no butter just oil & generally 'light' food , most often accompanied by rice! It's 2024 & so many restaurants now are food sensitive aware ( offering Gluten free options on menus or 'available gluten free' etc., of All places we would have expected this at a Mediterranean restaurant & hope to see it in the future @ L'Olive. They Did make an oil only substitution on our dish & it was very tasty , as were most other foods we had, so we'll give it another try ... in a while. read more

Many people on next door said to try this place along with neighbors in real life. I love Mediterranean food. We are spontaneous and went to try a few times and the wait was too long so we patiently waited for snowbirds to head north. We finally got the chance to get a table in off season. We were the only people there. The waiter was a super nice guy. We appreciated his humor and chattiness. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. (Maybe our expectations were too high). I've had better in Venice. I'll give it another try and see if maybe we just went on an off day. read more

Went to L'Olive today for lunch with friends. All seven of us were able to sit together. The service was excellent! There was an extensive menu for lunch and also the dinner menu was offered. The waiter informed us of two specials which were very reasonably priced. I had the lentil soup which was delicious with a drizzle of cracked pepper oil on it. The special also came with my choice of a falafel wrap, some American fries and a soft drink. The falafel for the wrap was nice and crispy. Others at the table enjoyed the grilled chicken wrap, the Greek salad and the roasted beet salad. Pita on the side was so fresh. Have enjoyed L'Olive for dinner but learned today that it is also a wonderful lunch experience! Everyone was pleased. read more
