This was part of a large strip mall with about 15 or so tables and a slight view into the kitchen. The service was very friendly, and the menu had a number of Mediterranean dishes. For an appetizer, the 4-sampler mezze ($26.50) was ordered. The options that were chosen were the hummus, baba ganoush, htipiti, and dolmadakia. It was all served with a bunch of pita and an herb infused olive oil. There were 3 small grape leaves present as part of the dolmadakia. They were stuffed appropriately with white rice. All of the spreads were great, but my favorite was the htipiti. This spread had a slight kick to it and the walnuts added a slight crunch to this spread. It was a great way to start the meal. For an entrée, I had the lamb shank which was a special on the night I attended. It came with a side of white rice. The entrée came with a broth with carrots and potatoes. The lamb was very tender and fell right off the bone. There was also a perfect amount of rice to soak up the broth and juices from the lamb. I also tasted the Adana shish kebab which was tasty as well. For dessert, the baklava ($10) was tried. It came with vanilla ice cream as well. The pieces were a little small, but the taste made up for it. The pistachio filled dough was very apparent and tasty. It was even better when combined with the vanilla ice cream. Will I go back? I have returned to this resturant for lunch and haven't gone back because the original chef moved on abou a year ago. My wife and I both love Middle Eastern food so we gave L'Olive another try. It definetly is not the same restaurant that we visited after it first opened. The Fried Kibbeh which is one of my favorite dishes, was so hard I couldn't stick my fork in it. I actually had to pick it up with my hand to bite into it.The meat inside was dry and the texture of the meat just didn't seem right. The falafel were good. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. The kofta sandwich was also very good. Nicely grilled and moist inside. What tells me there must be new owners is not only the dissapointing Kibbeh, but when I asked for garlic paste(called Toum) the waiter brought me chopped garlic. I couldn't believe it. The pevious owners made it and offered it. I was actually one of the first to review this restaurant on 9/20/21. I am being kind in this review. We have a local ladies dining group that meets monthly at a different restaurant in Venice. We have 89 ladies signed up, but it's very loosely operated where ladies can pick and choose which luncheon(s) they wish to attend. At this month's luncheon there were 10 ladies in attendance. Some ordered wine, others drank soda or wine. The ladies that had the wild mushroom ravioli said "it couldn't have been more perfect" (a quote). The Greek salads were great as well. I ordered the sampler with hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki and carrot tarator all served with warm pita and expertly prepared. I brought home plenty of leftovers. The dessert was a chocolate mousse with white chocolate topping and the one lady who ordered it said it was excellent. All in all the service was impeccable, the food was expertly prepared, and the atmosphere was perfect for dining and conversation. An exceptional 5 star dining experience. read more

I'm giving it 5, might be a bit generous but owner is super nice. My sister Jackie took us there for my mom's belated Birthday. My wife is a chef and from Middle East. Place was spot on ! Falafel was the best I've had and I live in NYC with a huge Middle Eastern food culture. Adana Kebob was excellent. Wife had Gyro platter no complaints. Sister pasta dish with shrimp, delicious. Mom had Ravioli... amazing. Sunday night place was packed. Owner wonderful guy, chit chatting with all like family. Clean good service. No issues. Highly recommend ! Cheers ! The food was delicious and the solo waiter was attentive to all the tables. My only complaint was it seemed a little warm in there but it has been super hot recently, so that may be why. Their A/C was on but may not have been able to cool down the restaurant enough. read more

Today my wife and I went to L'Olive restaurant for the lunch as we loved to go there before. This time all staff was completely new for us including the chef. As usual we ordered lamb giro and when the food was served it was anything but lamb and beef giro. When we talked to the chef, he is also the owner of the restaurant, he was insisting that this is the lamb and beef that he is serving from the beginning for 3.5 years. We personaly knew the chef who worked in this restaurant from the beginning and I never met the owner before, but the food was good then and now it wasn't even close to the real lamb giro. Make the story short, the owner charged the full price for the food that we haven't eat and didn't made any effort to fix the issue. He just told us that it is not his problem and it his right to charge the full amount. Typical middle eastern attitude. We will never again come to L'Olive. read more

We live in metro Detroit where Middle Eastern restaurants are everywhere; not so much in Florida so we were excited when we found L'Olive for lunch. So so good! I don't know how I end up in Venice from Englewood looking for food but I did. I was craving for koobideh so I thought I'd try L'Olive. Ummm, this place was def too fancy schamncy for my scrubs but I was too hungry to drive some place else. So I sat down, ordered adana wrap with fries and hummus with pita bread. Sad to say flavors did not impress as well as the decor. Everything was too bland, the kabob was spicy and needed A LOT of seasoning. A friend and I stopped into this restaurant for dinner last evening. She had heard from two other friends, that it was very good. We tried it out ourselves, and we found it to be delicious! Our meal were very simple as we only had an appetizer (falafel) and salads. My friend had the spinach beet salad and I had the Greek salad. In my opinion, the Greek salad was the best I have ever had! The dressing was delicious and the perfect amount for the salad. A definite 10/10! We started with the Greek salad and it was fabulous, the dressing was perfect! We Moved on to the lunch menu with the shrimp pita and a basic cheese steak sandwich. Phenomenal! I had the lamb in a skewer which was to my standard of medium and it was perfectly cooked, very tasty and satisfying with accompanying vegetables and rice. I'd definitely go back! Waiter suggested a Super Tuscan wine which did not disappoint. Delish. Two of us ordered the octopus starter for our main meal--tho only 1 was initially delivered. The second serving came with an apology. No problem. Poo poo happens. In the meantime we and our guest had tzatziki and warm pita while we waited for her meal. Quite good. Octopus was generously sized, tender, with red pepper sauce and another sauce (I think it was hummus) along with a bit of romaine salad and potato slice. Another in the party had lamb kabob with couscous. He asked for the lamb to be cooked medium but I would have requested medium rare cuz it was a bit dry.
