I have found that the staff here are quite friendly and helpful. The inventory is well curated for a small shop although there is virtually no home goods here. This makes sense because they are located right on Broadway in the middle of Yale University. The focus here is the great outdoors and clothing for active living. Mark who works on the second floor helped me find the right pair of boots first by measuring my foot and then finding a couple of sizes to make sure they are comfortable. If they are out of a size or you want something that they don't carry in the store then they will help find it and order it for you for delivery or pick up. read more

The Bean is the best. The store is much smaller than their home store but it still delivers on fashion and service. The store is essentially two floors with men's footwear on the first and women's footwear on the second. The second floor had both men and women clothing. Great deals on everything with plenty of options. I loved the set up and more importantly the customer service provided. The young man who assisted us was very patient and knowledgeable about the brand and helped us make our decision when it came to which boot to get. I will definitely be back. Very small LL Bean retail store. I was hoping for a new pair of classic bean boots. And considering the store decor, it was disappointing that they had such a limited selection. Both of size, color and model Employees were a mixed bag. The woman helping me with shoes didn't know what colors were even available in Bean boots. And had no idea which version would be warmest in winter. I love LL Bean. But would rather Mac the trip to Freeport. Or the internet. read more

I'm a long time customer of L.L.Bean and have traveled to the mothership in Freeport. I do most of my shopping online, however, making any needed exchanges at the outlet store in Orange, which will close at the end of 2018. With that in mind, I decided to check out the new store in New Haven. Very disappointing. It has great visibility in a New Haven shopping area owned by Yale and targeted to its population. So if you want water bottle or canvas bag, you might find one there. But if you're looking for something in your size that you might actually wear, chances are slim to none. I needed a pair of jeans, and their entire stock consisted of one super trendy style which simply would not do, even if they had it in my size, which they did not. When I talked to a sales person, she gave me a paper catalog, I found the pair I wanted and dictated the information to her while she ordered it on her computer. Since I didn't want to have it delivered to my home, I now have to go back to pick it up when it comes in. It would have been easier to have done the whole thing at home. read more

This is my first time inside of an actual LL Bean store, however I did realize from prior reviews it is not a massive store in comparison to others. There are two levels, and it is nicely laid out. There were plenty of staff there to assist as needed. They did have a good selection (although small) of items and prices are decent. There were much more clothing rather than "gear". I also didn't notice really anything for a kids selection (baby or otherwise). The closest thing they had were small rugged sippy cups for kids. Overall decent, but don't make the trek all the way here unless there is something specific you need. Quantities are not vast! read more

A smaller, more compact L.L. Bean than I'm used to seeing. Not nearly as wide a selection as larger stores, but still pretty diverse in terms of clothing and gear. Fairly friendly and efficient service too. read more

Seriously disappointed in their clothing. LL Bean use to be an American made clothing store but no longer. The recent tops I purchased clearly said made in China and they shrunk. I will not shop there again. Don't waste your money as the clothing does not have that quality feel or stamina as it once did. read more

This store is simply a let down. There is no way that it is worth paying to park to explore it. Very small- limited selection. There is no kids department. I was in the store for a solid 15 minutes and was not apporpached by a staff member and it was not busy! I was interested in a pair of laces from the selection they have and the sales rep just stood by and ignored me. I won't return again and miss the store in Orange . read more

Just drove into New Haven and paid for parking to see the new LLBean store. I'm a big LL Bean shopper so was excited that a store (not an outlet) was opening near me. What a disappointment! The store is small and the stock is smaller. I was told that it was catering to the college age set, but I can't see that even they would like the stock. Very limited. read more

Disappointing. Used to live near the Tyson's Corner location which might have spoiled me. This location has a small women's section and a TINY sale section. Used to be an outlet nearby but they shut that down for this. Weird moves, disappointing decisions. read more
