Charming and welcoming restaurant, authentic wood fired pizzas and home made pastas. The entire serving staff is great, but Kamel is the best! It's hard not to come back every night that I am in Nice. You should probably reserve a table on a weekend.

We selected L'Ecurie (The Stable) Restaurant because it was crowed with French speaking local's, as opposed to serving a largely tourist clientele. It also advertised it's specialty as Nicoises, which interested us. We chose to sit outside, and had initially be concerned that the passing crowds would be bothersome, but this did not turn out to be the case. Given the choice, and cooperating weather, I would always choose to sit outside. Marvelous people watching! We ordered two pizzas (Valberg (Tomate, chèvre, pancetta, champignons frais, origan / €12), and Special Julien, (€12.50)), and two Diet Cokes (€3.50 each). So much for seeking out a Nicoises restaurant :) The pizzas were large, and could have been easily been shared by two. The combination of sitting in the sidewalk table, excellent service, delicious pizzas, and marvelous Nice weather, made the whole experience most enjoyable. Four Stars.

Rabbit and gnocchi - don't bother. The meat was stale and the gnocchi is cold inside.

Make sure you make reservations for good restaurants in Nice. Having not reserved any restaurants for a busy Saturday evening, we went to the first available restaurant that looked half decent. We were hoping to try traditional niçoise food (local cuisine) but we're pretty disappointed with the quality of food. Our rabbit came poorly marinated and tasted stale. The waiters delivered wrong dishes and our dish end up sitting at the counter getting cold. So the gnocchi was cold inside. Reading other Yelp reviews, we might just be unlucky because of the busy weekend dinner crowd. However we must have been very unlucky to get 6 mediocre dishes from appetisers to desserts. Not impressed at all. *I rarely write negative reviews but this place was exceptionally bad so I gotta write to warn other tourists. Get the pizza perhaps but don't try the nice traditional dishes!!!

Great Pizza and Lasagna! The owner has a great sense of humor. It was busy, but we were seated right away.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked over from a nearby hotel and grabbed a table by myself along the busy street. The servers…read morewere very friendly and spoke English well. It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
