We went to the opera house and found Le Frog nearby with great reviews, so we decided to check it out. It had just rained, so we sat inside, It's a cute little spot. The food was amazing. We ordered a double round of snails, plus shrimp crudo, steak tartare, and octopus to share. Everything was fresh, light, and had unique flavor combos. I also got an espresso martini for my fix, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. It wasn't great and came with a straw (lol)?!? Now, here's where it got wild. The staff, 4 of them, were literally screaming and fighting with each other in the middle of service with hands raised, ready to throw down. I've never seen anything like it in a restaurant, and it turned what could have been a nice meal into something that felt trashy. Our grumpy waiter was one of the people involved, which just made it worse. Food-wise, this place is a 5. But with the staff's behavior, I'm being generous giving it a 3. While in France, I looked up this restaurant as they had been in Nice France for over 40 years. I've never eaten frog legs before and they were so delightful when we tasted them they did taste a little bit like chicken, but much lighter and of course a sweet sauce with capers and butter. We loved this place! Le frog was in a very convenient location right near our hotel in nice. My partner is a big snail/frog leg fan and this place had them both, so perfect! We made reservations which I would recommended, but it did seem like they were able to seat a few parties who came withoit reservations. They accept reservations via the fork, (app) so try it out. Anyway, the frog legs and snails were both great. We ordered a bottle of white wine and it was our favorite wine we tried in Nice. The duck confeit was amazing, and so was the lamb. The berry sauce that came with the duck made the entire dish amazing. The salad could have used a better rinse, honesty. Service was good. I rarely give 2-star reviews--if the food is just average, I typically don't bother commenting. But this experience was disappointing enough to make me leave a review. I also really liked the escargot because of the flavor and texture, but it was a bit too greasy for me, I could only stomach two until I was done. It is so close to the main waterfront In nice but off a side street so not as busy and loud as many of the other places that had a very manufactured vibe. It has local flair and authentic dishes prepared well. Nothing too avant- garde but the flavors really work. It felt like home cooking. The waiters spoke enough English to make ordering easy and they even had wifi for our kids to use for a YouTube distraction. I was so excited to finally get to try this place on my last night in Nice! The food was great. We ordered a dozen escargot and 5 frog legs as our appetizer. I got the beef filet as my main and my boyfriend got the duck. One of my faves during my time in Nice! Came here right when it opened (church bell rang) and of course no one was there. Outside seating was available but it was a little chilly so I opted for indoor seats. This was a good choice because the interior decor is beautiful - you'll also notice a frog theme by the statues and figurines of frogs! I went for the Le Frog Menu, which is a 31 Euro course consisting of frog legs, escargot, bread, one glass of wine, and the dessert of the day. Usually I don't go for frog legs because I grew up with this frog leg and rice dish that my mom sometimes made (sorry, Mom!), but this dish was legit! As you can imagine, it tastes like CHICKEN. Flavored well and piping hot when it came out. Escargots were also amazing: well-seasoned and the residual olive oil was used to dip the bread in. The snail pieces were decent sized, and the dish comes with a snail shell holder that takes some getting used to. Dessert of the day that day was tiramisu, which paired well with my glass of white. Servers were super friendly and could converse fine in English. Wi-Fi also available. Overall, great experience here and I would recommend to anyone visiting Nice! Being in France, we were curious to try frog legs and escargot. We sat outside for lunch. Situated on a small side street close to the beach, the atmosphere was relatively quiet compared to other locations in Nice, but was uninteresting and lacked the charm of livelier spots. The frog legs and escargot were enjoyable. The pluma de porc was nicely cooked--pink and juicy in the middle and with a crispy char on the outside. However, there wasn't much more to the dish than the meat (it does come with a small side "salsa"). As such, there was too much meat and too little variety in the dish for it to be pleasant. The concierge at Hyatt Regency hotel recommended this restaurant when I asked for the best escargot in town. I had escargot and foie gras on my first visit. Yes, the concierge did well in recommending this place. I ended up frequenting Le Frog for 4 consecutive nights. It didn't hurt that the servers were quite handsome. Benoit, Nikola, Laurent, and Joel were all charming. They all spoke really good English & were very nice. I don't know why some reviews say they are rude. This is France, waiters are French. It's not USA. The escargot had the perfect texture and taste. The foie gras de canard was heavenly. I mean, you really shouldn't screw up foie gras. The gelee complemented the foie gras well. I also had the banoffee pie and my god, it was delectable. On another visit, I had the seafood linguine. Pasta was al dente, the seafood texture and seasonings again were on point. Sigh, it was scrumptious. The frog legs, true to le frog's name, were definitely a must. You have to eat each bite with the greens because if eaten by itself, it doesn't have the greens to neutralize the salt & all you can taste is the salt. When taken in a bite together, it is perfect harmony. My husband found this online and booked us a table. Everything about the meal was perfection from the wine to the food. I had escargot for the first time here. It was some garlicky goodness! The salad was perfectly tossed with a light vinaigrette and wonderful as all French salads are. My husband had the roasted leg of lamb and he barely let me try it because it was so perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also ordered a side of vegetables sautéed in a butter sauce. I eat a lot of vegetables and these were by far some of the best I had ever had. I would go back just for those! Neat relaxed atmosphere, we visited in November when the weather is cold but they have a patio for warmer weather. Our first night in Nice I wanted to introduce my friends to real French food and why not with a place that had wonderful reviews named Frog?! I called ahead to get a reservation for us since we were kind of a large group. This place was exceptional! The ambiance was wonderful, super cozy and modern vibe. The staff was very nice to us considering we didn't know a lick of French since I've forgotten most of what I learned in high school. They treated us very nicely for being young American students who didn't really know what we were doing just wanting to experience their culture and food! It was a little on the fancy and pricey side but worth it if you're looking for a real French meal! A lot of places in Nice are Vietnamese because of France ruling over Vietnam which is great because I love Asian food. Except none of the friends I was with at the time had ever been to France before so I needed them to try Escargot. I believe we all ordered different things so we could all try as much different meals as possible! Two people split escargot so everyone could try them which is a good idea because there was a decent amount of them. They were delicious and so garlicky which we all loved! This was my favorite meal I had in Nice. I went with a group of friends and they sat us in a back area so we had a nice space to ourselves. Our server was nice and timely. I loved everything about my meal. Starting off I got their signature "frog" cocktail that's bright green and flavored with kiwi. It was the perfect amount of sweet, I loved it.
