Tagliatelle with pesto; Beef tartare with potatoes and homemade tomato relish; and a vegetable platter with an assortment within the flower
    Darren W.

"The best place in town to get olive oil!" according to several locals. Indeed it is. I went with my family during our stay in Nice and it was an enjoyable experience, especially conversing with Nadim. As Americans, it was great to speak with someone well-versed in English and hear about his early years in New York. Before I go on, I must say that Nadim is a very welcoming host. He is not shy when making new friends, is very knowledgeable of olive oils, and is kind-hearted. You can tell by the way he treats his diners, his wife, and any passerby who glance to see the homely restaurant and olive oil containers. He likes to entertain, but it only enhances the dining experience. As for the food, it was superb. Rich in taste and healthy. Nadim also gave us various olive oils to taste such as a bitter olive oil that complimented the vegetable platter. The picture doesn't do the food and taste justice, but I hope it serves as a helpful reference/starting point. Fun fact shared by Nadim is that his olive oils are always different year-over-year as they're consumed entirely. He closes shop for a few months to source new olive oils and what's sourced is used up. If you're in the area and need a place to eat, definitely give this place consideration! One final bit is the place only accepts cash payments. But don't fret! You can either visit an ATM, pay online through their website (as a gift payment), or pay in USD (only mentioned this currency since we're Americans) valued based on the exchange rate. Enjoy!

I last enjoyed Oliviera in person 4 years ago, and the experience has led me to order their olive oil shipped to me in the United States. I cannot live without Bouteillan in the summer!

Eggplant/feta dip with red pepper, Caprese with fresh seasonal tomatoes, and eggplant meatball? ALL TO DIE FOR!

So happy we stumbled upon this wonderful place. The owner is ABSOLUTELY DEVINE, and one of the best people we met in Europe on this trip. He is SO passionate about the food he creates. (He shares some of his recipes on his website). He is a national treasure, I am pretty sure. We tried 3 very different dishes, 2 completely out of our usual comfort zone, on his recommendations and were delighted with all three. (We skipped his pesto which looks amazing, because we are pretty adept at making pesto ourselves!!!) As soon as we got home we made his eggplant dip, his moms recipe. SO DANG GOOD. He specializes in high quality Olive Oils which he generously drizzles over everything. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE, it's a delight.

BRING CASH and make a reservation. Okay- with the mandatories out of the way- let me tell you a little bit about Oliviera. The owner, Nadim, is passionate about olive oil. And not just one kind- many kinds which he drizzles on everything he serves. He starts off with one from Nice- light, fragrant and perfectly sopped up by the crunchy French bread he serves to you. There is a limited menu with about 5-6 starters and another 5-8 entrees. On the night I was there- every table was full and he brought in a couple of extra tables from out front given it was a little chilly. No problem- the more the merrier! I started with a vegetable plate topped with avocado over a Granny Smith apple. And my dining companion had an amazing aubergine and pepper dish ( the recipe is on the website) but think roasted eggplant, combined with goats cheese, Greek yogurt and a little salt and pepper. Both were fantastic! But since both are drizzled, when served, with plenty of that delicious olive oil, be sure to sop up all the delicious flavors with the crusty French bread or Nadim will remind you when he comes to pick up your plate!! For our main course- I had the fresh sausages, of the night, served with lentils, and my dining companion had a beef filled cannelloni both of which were delicious as well. And each was again a personally drizzled by the ow near with the perfect oil to being out the tsetse. Finally- there was only one dessert available which was a tiramisu. And guess what? Yep, you're right. It too came with an olive oil drizzle. I thought it would be too much- but it really helped to hold the taste of the chocolate in your mouth. As I said- bring cash as this place doesn't take credit. Our bill ran about 96 euro which was very reasonable given we even had a bottle of wine. And definitely make a reservation a day or two before or you could be left being directed down the street like another young couple who showed up on the night I was there sans a reservation. A magical evening all made possible by the veritable olive, the plump grape and an owner named Nadim who went out of his way to make me feel like a valued guest in his " house". You must check this out the next time you are in Nice.

Oliviera was INCREDIBLE. The service was friendly and inviting. The server/owner speaks perfect English and has a wonderful sense of humor. We had an avocado salad, beef cannelloni, pesto, and pumpkin lasagna. ALL I would order again. I am still dreaming about the cannelloni. The ingredients are all FRESH from the OWNER'S FARM. He thinks produce that isn't his is 'fake'. They also have a huge selection of olive oils that are available for purchase. Before our meal he brought out an assortment of olive oils to taste. He described them to us, and showed us pictures of the olives. It was a wonderful addition to the experience of eating there. Food AND Service were the best I've had ANYWHERE. This is a must do in Nice. Make a reservation, the restaurant is small and fills every night. We made one just one day in advance for a Saturday night and it was fine. Of note: CASH ONLY.

I cannot even express how much I loved eating at this place. We came here on our last day in Nice for lunch and it was such a delightful experience. The owner was wonderful. He was so helpful with giving us recommendations (especially with my gluten allergy) and also giving us background of our food and the olive oils that paired with it. It was really sweet how proud the owner was of his food and his olive oils. I got the veggie and fruit salad... my favorite part of the dish was the smashed avocado on top of the granny apple. We also got the goat cheese with eggplant and a side of grilled peppers. Both soooo amazing! The rose that the owner suggested... the saint tropez was also perfect. The olive oils were so tasty that we ended up buying some to take home. I would definitely come here if you have a chance. It was such a highlight of our trip.

This location came highly recommended from a family friend as a must visit while in Nice. Located in the Old Town area and closed Sunday/Monday. We had the opportunity to eat here twice. We made a reservation for both visits. If you don't have a reservation, you will only get a table if there are no shows. Secondly, cash only location. No credit cards accepted. My wife and I were very impressed with the location, with the food and the owner/ wait staff. We chose to sit outside to people watch and we were glad we did. Both times, our neighboring tables, we had some great conversations with them. For the meal, the owner will bring you a one page menu and explain each and every dish. It's a farm to table experience. Everything is very fresh and natural. Now, when talking about the olive oils they offer, the owner will bring your dish with his recommendation of oils to top the dish. Even dessert! The bread is free flowing and overall, the dishes were awesome. Some of the best food we have ever experienced. We had wine with one meal and beer with the other. When we return to Nice, this will be the first place we dine. Need to make a reservation first!

    December 2011 menu

I've been wanting to finish my review at Olivieria since I've been back from France. It's way overdue, but here it is!!! I absolutely adore this place! Out of all places, this was the most memorable in all aspects of my taste buds! A MUST if you're in NICE! The owner, Nadiu, spoke English and was super helpful and knowledgeable of everything that evolves around olives and of course, the menu! The place is small and fits around 4-5 parties inside and a couple outside (call ahead for reservation). I love that their kitchen is literally in the restaurant where you can smell everything, it's really an aroma pleasure! High praises to the chef working here solo! Everything came out quick and delicious, unbelievable! The menu changes monthly depending what's in season. So you know that you are getting the freshest ingredients possible! I posted a photo of the December 2011 menu that I had the pleasure of doing a tasting on since I had a party of 6. Mozzarella Buffala OMG, this was sooo fresh! It's one of the best I had ANYWHERE! If you love burrata, you have to get this. I was in LOVE! Avocat Loco This is their version of guacamole salad. My new found friend, Nadiu, challenged one of the girls from Mexico at our table to compare it their guacamole. She had humbly admit that this was some pretty excellent guacamole! The guacamole comes on top of a slice of apple and fresh spring mix, the paring is unbelievable! Tartare Mediterranee Another unbelievable dish! For those not afraid to eat raw beef, it's a MUST! This was my favorite out of all the entrees. It comes mixed with an explosion of flavors, a side of potatoes, and a pairing sauce. Cannot even describe how good it is! Lasagne au Potiron on Ragu Pumpkin Lasagna...I don't even remember if there was any meat in here. The dish was light and healthy alternative to your typical Lasagna. This is not my style of dish, but it was still very good. Raviolis Nicois Another light dish! This was a perfect balance of mini ravioli and their tomato sauce, yum. I don't recall what was inside the Raviolis. Sorry, it's been almost 3 months! Linguini al Pesto The noodles have pesto in them, so it'll come out green! I don't really remember the dish too much, but still good. Braised Beef This was not on the menu, but I'm glad we ordered it. The beef was soo tender! It came with a potato mix and a carrot. The dish was full of flavor, so it was a great pairing it with the pasta dishes. Yum! Tiramisu OMG! This was sooo good and Nadiu was so generous with the portion since he knew we were all sharing! If you can imagine the perfect layer of Tiramusi, this is it! All the dishes were amazing, but what really topped it off was the olive oil dressed on top of each dish. Nadiu used a different olive oil on each dish beginning with the fresh bread we got to the Tiramisu. Yes, you read correctly....olive oil on top of the Tiramisu! Who would've known?! I couldn't be happier and I hope one day soon that I can return and try their menu again. Fellow Yelpers, please review this place so I can live vicarious through you and be transported back to this lovely little restaurant! *They are located a little bit of out of the main shopping area, but it's only a 5-10min walk. Plus, there's a lot of local shops where you can find better deals on clothing and jewelry. Please try and enjoy! You'll fall in love like I did, till next time!

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! Eating at Oliviera was the culinary highlight of my visit to Nice and definitely one of my favorite dining experiences in general. The head chef and owner of the restaurant is so extremely passionate about his food and the olive oils that go best with each dish, inspiring all patrons in gluttonous merriment. He personally goes around the restaurant explaining each dish with colorful stories of local produce and matching olive oils, adding a special touch to the experience. We had made reservations via email, but even though the owner could not find the last confirmation email, he accommodated us. You definitely need to make reservations! The restaurant is located off a tiny street in old town and is so unassuming from the outside, you wouldn't know of its praise without advance research. From inside, it feels like you're in someone's kitchen as a welcomed guest. The ambience is casual, friendly, and intimate, with room for only about 18-20 guests. The aubergine appetizer, cannelloni main, ravioli main, and tiramisu were all fantastic. We polished off all the plates and sauce with extra bread! I don't even like tiramisu, and I loved this dessert. That is how incredible the food is here. I was also surprised how much a sweet olive oil could enhance the flavor of the dessert. Previously I had only thought of olive oil as salad dressing or cooking pasta! I left the restaurant with 2 bottles of the special Nice olive oil with "almond" flavor. So good! To top off the whole experience, the food and wine were both very reasonably priced!! A MUST!

Oui oui, c'est très bon ici! Loved this place. It's not particularly French, but I love the Italian/Mediterranean influence here, especially the olive oil! Huge cans of them from different regions and the owner chats about the dishes, oils and what his produce finds are from that morning. They are child friendly too - one of the few with a high chair and baby books! Back to the food - sooo good. Had a baba ganoush type starter while hubby had a fresh tomato dish. For our mains, I loved my stuffed eggplant and hubby's pasta and pesto was delicious. Bread was warm and fresh, and of course served with olive oil. The only downside is that it's slow, but almost everyone seems to be on vacation so it's all good! Costs about 30-35 euros a person without wine.

So glad the restaurant we planned on eating at was closed!!! We settled on Oliviera after searching for a substitute. We sat down at one of the outdoor tables and were told by a nice man that they were reserved. Hearts in our hands we began to leave, until we were told we could sit inside. Yes! Especially considering it is an open air room with views of the stunningly small kitchen and street views! We were sat next to a 4 top of Americans, and we were all treated to the owner, Nadim's explanation of his restaurant. Oliviera's is a olive oil pairing restaurant. Nadim makes his own olive oil, and each one is served with the different dishes that are created by the 3 person kitchen, using fresh ingredients from the market. Btw, the market in Nice is exceptional. We shared the Zucchini blossom salad as a starter. It was filled with chopped vegetables and drizzled with olive oil tableside by Nadim. For an entrée I had the zucchini lasagna and my husband had the lentils with sausage. Again, Nadim was there to share his knowledge of olive oil and dress the plates (black and green olive oils this time). One of the best food experiences I've ever had! To complete your meal, make sure you pick out your favorite olive oil to bring home!

    Tiramisu with fermented olive "juice"

An olive oil based restaurant. It was a lovely, home-cooked meal. The owner was very nice and made us feel right at home. While it was a very nice experience, i thought the cold eggplant appetizer would be better hot. The rest of the meal was very nice. I especially liked the tiramisu with olive oil. It tastes better than it sounds. This dessert was better than the desserts I had at a 2 Michelin starred restaurant that I went to in Nice the night after.

Feta and fig salad - with gorgeous olive oil of course!
    Kendra T.

Loved this place! The restaurant is small, so make sure you book ahead. A number of people tried to walk in while we were there and they were turned away. Luckily this place was recommended to us and was just down the road from where we were staying in the Old Town. The owner instantly makes you feel welcome and it is very clear from the beginning that he is passionate about food and olive oil. There isn't a huge menu but you can tell that the menu depends on the fresh produce that is available. After hearing about each dish, we had trouble choosing so opted to order more and share it. We were glad we did, otherwise there would have been some serious food envy. The food is amazing, each and every dish we had. The owner lovingly matched each dish with a healthy serving of different olive oils. Yum! My favourite was the feta and fig salad. Would love to go back if I get the chance. Will be checking out his website to order some olive oil in the meantime.

Make reservations ahead of time (it's easy to do online) because this place will fill up for dinner. They have 4 appetizers to choose from, about 5-6 entrees and about 7-8 desserts to choose from, and the prices are reasonable for dinner: 24€ for plat + entree or plat + dessert, and 29€ for the 3 courses. Entrées: - Velouté de topinambour / Jerusalem artichoke soup - This soup was super, super creamy and buttery. I don't want to know how much cream and/or they put in here - it was good, but very rich. There was a piece or two of bacon, and the soup was tasty. - Trilogie de betteraves / Beets cooked three ways - I was looking for something healthier to eat, and was happy this was on the menu. I wasn't sure what to expect with this dish, other than it was beets cooked three ways. There was one little dish of beet salad with green onions or scallions, a small beet poached or roasted, and a beet purée that went well with the bread. I would recommend this appetizer if you want something on the lighter/healthier side and different. Plats: - Risotto with asparagus and tomatoes - My husband ordered this and it was good but not outstanding. He added the 2 pieces of seared foie gras for 5€ which made the dish better; I think it would have been a bit bland without the foie. The asparagus was very fresh and the risotto was on the lighter side which was nice. - Salmon with Cajun seasoning and leeks - This was different than what you'd normally find in a French restaurant since I've never seen Cajun spiced things before. The salmon was a little on the small side, but it was still good and the caramelized leeks on the side were a really perfect compliment. This dish was tasty and really good, but just a bit on the smaller side compared to all the other main dishes that were meat-based (from what I saw other diners getting) We were full so we skipped dessert, but it looked pretty good - they had things like a chocolate lava cake, a praline crème brûlée, spéculos tiramisu, and financier with a passion fruit center. Overall, a good meal that won't break the bank and that has a good selection of things on the menu. More heavier " comfort food " than lighter fare, and slightly less traditional French. The ambiance was very casual - it almost felt like you were eating in a graffiti park with dim lighting and metal walls, but overall, we had a decent meal at a reasonable price. The waiters here all spoke English well and it seemed most of the clientele were tourists.

I ordered the sole, which was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. My friend had what they described as a clam linguini (which was actually more of a spaghetti). I tried some, and we both agreed that the dish came up short because it was missing something - maybe garlic? Despite the lack of favor in my friend's dish, but entrées portions were very generous, and our server recommended a very nice bottle of local red wine which we both very much enjoyed. We also shared a plate of specialty ham, which unfortunately was way too salty for either of us to have more than a few bites. Bottom line: Exceptional service and great prices. We enjoyed our visit enough that we might give them another try the next time we find ourselves in Nice.
