We had a nice dinner here - the quality of the food and the presentation was nice, and the prices were reasonably despite being in a touristy part in town. Make reservations ahead of time (it's easy to do online) because this place will fill up for dinner. They have 4 appetizers to choose from, about 5-6 entrees and about 7-8 desserts to choose from, and the prices are reasonable for dinner: 24€ for plat + entree or plat + dessert, and 29€ for the 3 courses. Entrées: - Velouté de topinambour / Jerusalem artichoke soup - This soup was super, super creamy and buttery. I don't want to know how much cream and/or they put in here - it was good, but very rich. There was a piece or two of bacon, and the soup was tasty. - Trilogie de betteraves / Beets cooked three ways - I was looking for something healthier to eat, and was happy this was on the menu. I wasn't sure what to expect with this dish, other than it was beets cooked three ways. There was one little dish of beet salad with green onions or scallions, a small beet poached or roasted, and a beet purée that went well with the bread. I would recommend this appetizer if you want something on the lighter/healthier side and different. Plats: - Risotto with asparagus and tomatoes - My husband ordered this and it was good but not outstanding. He added the 2 pieces of seared foie gras for 5€ which made the dish better; I think it would have been a bit bland without the foie. The asparagus was very fresh and the risotto was on the lighter side which was nice. - Salmon with Cajun seasoning and leeks - This was different than what you'd normally find in a French restaurant since I've never seen Cajun spiced things before. The salmon was a little on the small side, but it was still good and the caramelized leeks on the side were a really perfect compliment. This dish was tasty and really good, but just a bit on the smaller side compared to all the other main dishes that were meat-based (from what I saw other diners getting) We were full so we skipped dessert, but it looked pretty good - they had things like a chocolate lava cake, a praline crème brûlée, spéculos tiramisu, and financier with a passion fruit center. Overall, a good meal that won't break the bank and that has a good selection of things on the menu. More heavier " comfort food " than lighter fare, and slightly less traditional French. The ambiance was very casual - it almost felt like you were eating in a graffiti park with dim lighting and metal walls, but overall, we had a decent meal at a reasonable price. I had such high hopes for this place based on the recommendation of a friend, but sadly my experience didn't live up to the hype. The food is certainly "edgy" and "creative"... but I actually didn't think it was all that great. This is the kind of French place where embellishments go a long way-- the description of the food sounds incredible on the menu, but then when you receive the food you realize that it's not all that, and it's rather basic. As a starter I ordered the mozzarella and tomato salad, which honestly wasn't as good as it looked, it was just okay. As my entree I had the pork, which came with some vegetables. I was expecting potatoes or some other side, but no. At least the veggies were tasty. The meal was okay, but nothing to write home about. The dessert was the part that really left me dissatisfied. I ordered this strawberry concoction that looked very descriptive on the menu, but when I received it, I quickly realized that it was basically some Reddi Wip (whipped cream) with like 6 strawberries inside. I'm all for French food ditching the pretense. However, even by American standards, the experience is a little hectic. I can only describe it as a food truck without wheels. The restaurant is crowded and loud. All the surfaces are hard, which amplified the noise from everyone packed around you. I try to prioritize food over ambiance, but this restaurant pushes that guideline to the limit. The food itself tried to be high-end food prepared efficiently, but that's exactly what limited its quality. The food was good, but not good enough to justify the discomfort. Maybe if you live in Nice, it's a nice option for going out on a not-special occasion, but I would recommend someplace else if you're traveling-through and looking for something memorable. read more

Super delicious and such sweet staff. Accommodated us and really was super attentive. I got the pork medallions with polenta, my boyfriend got the beef and potatoes au gratin and our son got roasted potatoes (picky eater). Everything was really well made and full of flavor. The food here was very good. I'm afraid I can't give a good review however because the service and the ambiance were not. Our waiter pounced on us as we sat down and wanted us to place both drink and dinner orders before we had even read over the menu. Then he never came back! He never came to check how the food was, we had to flag down a different waiter to order dessert and yet a different waiter to bring us the bill. It was odd. The ambiance was not pleasant to me. It was so loud my dining companion and I had to lean across the table to raise our voices just to have a conversation. Then they packed so many people in that I kept bumping elbows with the man next to me. And when we were done, we discovered that my friend was trapped and couldn't get out! We actually had to start dragging the table out until help arrived and the staff shuffled the tables so she could get out. We saw them do this for several folks so that's just the way it is. It would be better to put a couple less tables to give people a nicer experience. I would choose one of the more quiet outdoor dining options next time. It's too bad it's not a relaxing, pleasant atmosphere because the food was actually very good. read more

A cozy restaurant with a welcoming staff (owner?). My wife and I had a lovely meal on a Sunday night. I made the reservation on-line and had our concierge confirm just to be sure before making the short walk from our hotel. My starter of the foie gras came out "too small" according to my server and he said, "enjoy this for free while my chef remakes your order". Both were delicious though I couldn't finish the second starter and still have room for my main, a delicate buttery cod enjoined with a nice viognier. My wife has a chicken dish and proclaimed it to be the most tender chicken she ever ate. We are trying to be good and didn't partake of desserts, but they looked fabulous too. The restaurant itself is quite small, tucked away among the many streets so it may be a challenge to find. The food is great, the duck and the fruit salad were especially good! A hole in the wall with incredible food! Wouldn't call this your traditional French cuisine- definitely a more modern approach. I did the three course meal option(SUPER reasonable price, might I add) and I ordered the watermelon gazpacho, the maple syrup roasted duck and the brownie. Everything was so fresh and cooked perfectly. If you're looking for a quiet, intimate evening this is definitely not the place to go because it is tiny and busy. A fine dining experience in the old town. Interesting decor and menu with dishes that you don't normally come across (except for the burger). 25 Euro for the starter and the entree and 30 Euro with dessert. A good selection of cocktails, wines and a few craft beers. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Overall a great experience. read more

I found this disappointing: while an interesting menu, the portions were very small... the entree of gravalux of duck had 3-4 very small pieces of duck and razor thin slices of a similar number of veggies. The main, rabbit confit, was nothing but the confit- no accompaniments. Luckily I filled up on the bread to get some actual substance. I am not sure how anyone could give this restaurant less than five stars. One of the best meals we've ever had, and we have had a lot of nice meals around the world. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly. The asparagus appetizer was great, my wife had the duck and I Had the veal medallion with egg plant. I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The staff was very welcoming and nice. When sitting down at the restaurant you are very close to the people sitting next to you. You do need reservations at this place. I loved the two items I ate(the red peppers with goat cheese and the beef with potatoes), but my sister on the other hand her dishes weren't as tasty(tabouli with couscous and the second dish was sea bream with rice). We had two couples sitting on each side. One couple really enjoyed it and the other couple did not. I would recommend this place. read more

We were lucky enough to get a table at Les Garcons since we hadn't booked a table. It was really good food! I had a great fish dish and my girlfriend had a beef and both of them were delicious! Usually my girlfriend doesn't eat fish but this time she swapped dishes halfway through!! And her beef was good I can tell you! For dessert we ordered a crème brûlée and a chocolate tartar, and both were amazing! The only downside was that it was quite a small place with alot of tables which made the place slightly noisy! But would definitely go back there to try the new amazing dishes they will come up with! read more

No doubt the bedt restaurant we visited during our stay in Nice! The food was amazing: i started with the salmon tartar, which was just perfect in it's simplicity -sometimes less is more! For the main dish i had the duck, perfectly cooked, loving everything on the plate. For dessert i had creme brulee and i just loved it. The wines were good, i had both white and red and their bread was wonderful aswell and it kept coming until dessert! My friends had the "fish of the day" and they really enjoyed it too, i also got to taste the tiramisu my friend had for dessert and i just went from not really liking tiramisu to loving it. The restaurant was trendy and youthful and the staff was absolutely amazing. And all this (starter, main, dessert, a glass of red wine and my 1/4 share of a bottle of white) was 35€. Delicious meal! We ordered the duck breast, lamb, and salmon with the hummous and egg for an appetizer and the peanut butter creme brulee for dessert. Everything was tasty, flavorful, and balanced. The staff were very kind and inviting, and they spoke good English (there were also English menus). We came in on a Sunday for dinner, so it was not very busy and there were only a couple other parties of non-French people. We made a reservation, but I think you only will need to do this if you come in at a busier time, like Saturday night. read more
