This a true full service restaurant. Staff were accommodating and were able to explain the menu. I knew I wanted the lamb shank and it was very satisfying. Fairly tender served over creamy mashed potatoes. The sauce was sweet and not my go to for entrees, but it was a fruit sweet and toned down with herbs. Extensive wine list. I had the luburon which was fine for a table wine. My neighbors shared their bottle of 2017 gamay and I would order it instead. Bread and olives were nice starters. I liked how they cured it. Not overpowering brine with herbs. This is in the higher price range of the area, but the setting and staff is more polished. My adjacent dining patrons had the prix fixe menu. They did not love their entrees but had no complaints ( a fish and pork option). Oddly the establishment had only one bathroom. read more

Purely by chance, my family and I walked by this restaurant on the 1st night of our vacation in Nice.  We were all hungry, so we decided to stop in for dinner.  It turned out to be an amazing dining experience! Tip: The cuisine here is Corsican, and everything we tried on their menu looked wonderful and tasted even better than it looked :-) The atmosphere is bright and cherry; the service is exceptional, and the food just may Rock your World! After a leisurely and totally satisifying dinner, we paid the check and went back to our hotel.  The prices turned out to be very reasonable given the quality of the food and the service - I'm going to make a point of coming back the next time I'm in Nice. read more

SO GOOD. I had no idea what to expect from Corsican food and after trying Le Maquis I only wanted to keep trying other items on the menu. We stopped by here, without a reservation, and were promptly seated outside. It's in a cozy street with not much foot/tourist traffic. I had the risotto (with foam -- didn't know what that way but it's an interesting infusion into the risotto), the burrata, and the bon mille feuille. I would get it all again and more (if only my stomach would let me). It's the type of place you could return to night after night because of the great vibes it elicits. It doesn't feel like another Nice tourist trap but instead offers genuinely interesting foods to taste with the small town vibe. Also, many members of the wait staff are good looking which is never a bad thing. read more

We found this restaurant on trip advisory. This place really made our night in Nice. It's located in the beautiful old town area. They have the option of ordering from the regular menu or prix menu. The type of food is Corsican which is super tasty! We loved the risotto and lamb. And the Nutella dessert was mouth watering! I would def visit this restaurant again. The arugula salad was hands down the best salad I had on our entire vacation. Cute spot with lots of outdoor seating in a picturesque small street in Nice. Service was very friendly, and food was good. I got the large burrata salad, which was delicious, and my friend got the fish stew which she said was very good. Our other friend ordered the gnocchi but they came back and said they were all out, so she got the risotto with basil foam instead, which was surprisingly good (we had never heard of basil foam before but it was interesting!). We also got the bon Mille feuille for dessert which was like crisp wafers with a delicious cream and caramel. This is the worst experience I've had in France in the 15 years I've traveled between the US and Nice. The server, Sonya(?) is nothing short of racist. She yelled at us for asking for Bordeaux wine in a Corsican restaurant. She proceeded to take away my full appetizer without asking. My meal arrived 50 minutes after my entire party. When I asked why, she said "that's the French way. If you don't like it, don't come to this country." In addition to the typical snooty French waiter behavior, we received nothing but rude looks and minimal attention. Great little spot for dinner. There is a set 30euro option which featured a few options for each a starter, main and dessert. Service was attentive, the recommendations was sincere. It was a little quiet at first then after about 30 minutes, the tables were filled up. At the end we couldn't really make up our minds on a dessert, we understand minimal french. We were lucky enough to get a seat at this place, it was on the outside table so it was dreadfully cold as it was the 4th December 2015 in the middle of winter. We managed to eat the first course outside. It was a wonderful mushroom pasta dish with a parmaham mousse which was just so delicious and delicate. We got our main meal but by this time myself and my friend could barely feel our fingers anymore and asked to be moved inside, the staff were ever so helpful and found us a seat almost immediately when saw how cold we looked. We got a lovely little spot that was so warm and comfortable and we were able to finish our main course inside. I went with the lamb shank with mashed potato as the photos I saw from previous guests showed how amazing it looked. I went for the tart for dessert which by this time I could have rolled out the door I was so full, it was probably one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Yes as a lot of other people have said the place is somewhat hard to find but it's certainly worth the effort and try and get a reservation if you can apparently upto a week in advanced. It's also a wonderful location if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion while you are staying or just visiting Nice. read more

This is a hidden gem. Unassuming with amazing daily specials and a few southern French staples forming the back bone of a great menu. Service is attentive and helpful with recommendations and informative descriptions of many dishes. We had the beef filet and gnocchi and each was delicious. Very very good. We went without reservation and we had place only inside. The atmosphere was cozy and very nice! The food was tasty and enough for dinner! First off around this area it is really hard to find a place that still has tables available during dinner time or takes reservations any less than 5 days in advance! So you can only imagine how glad we were when we got here and they still had space for us. And a few more pleasant surprises were yet to come. We all went for different versions of the menu of the day, each of which was simply delicious. Be it the starters, the main course or desert, every single one of them was of excellent quality and thoughtfully prepared. Even the service was very attentive and quite helpful. So I have to recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an authentic French restaurant experience that is reasonably priced! read more

This little spot with street seating and the perfect combination of Italian-French fare made in Corsican style was just what we needed after a long day at the Grand Prix race. The "sweet veal" is to die for very very special! And the Italian Burrata for appetizer is perfect for sharing and paring w a nice red wine. Le Marquis was a lovely romantic dinner for my husband and I on our honeymoon. I had the risotto and my husband had the lamb. My risotto was good, although a bit salty, but I wish it had more ham and zucchini. My husband loved his lamb - in his words, "he didn't have a bad meal the whole trip." The service was pretty good from what I remember. We would recommend, but since there are so many restaurants to try in Nice, not sure we'd go back. read more

Off a side street in the old city so quieter but still a good spot to people watch. Got the lamb shank with mashed potatoes - sauce on the lamb shank was special and so were the mashed potatoes, but the lamb itself was just slightly above average. Partner got the gnocchi, which was well made but had too much pesto in the sauce. Restaurant treated us to a light and refreshing cup of risotto/cream aperitif which was a great surprise. We have visited the place and ordered the menu with some salad, mutton leg and desserts. The menu doesn't deserve it's price of 29€. I didn't like the salad, the mutton leg was ok, but nothing special, dessert were really awful. Probably ordinary menu is better, but the menu is really awful for this price. read more

Middling Corsican and French fare in Vieux Nice. I had an artichoke salad, followed by a lamb shank and a desert. The salad and lamb shank were utterly unremarkable. The dessert, a per and caramel topped French toast, was quite good. Service and kitchen were VERY slow, however, and we felt kind of put off by the waitresses demeanor, which was a bit too stereotypically French (even though we've found that in reality, French waiters are generally quite nice and accommodating). read more

What a gem! We stumbled upon Le Maquis and right away made a reservation for the evening as the staff was so welcoming and the location was charming. The waitress was lovely and the wine was exceptional. If you are looking for a dish that is solely handsome and art, look no further. Went here last night because of a strong recommendation from the chef of Flaveur (2 Michelin star restaurant in town) because of a problem with the reservation system on the Michelin website. We took a chance on this restaurant which had only one review and it did not disappoint! What a lovely lunch we had. It was very quiet on a Sunday for relatively early lunch by French standards but service was prompt and very nice. We ordered the 22euros prix fix and it was just perfect. My husband had the carpaccio of Corsican sausage and I has the artichoke and prosciutto poelee for appetizer, then we got the lamb and the cod, and finally the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. Each dish was delicious and very well presented. The decor was very nice. Modern but not pretentious. I just wish the bathroom would have been a bit more put together. We sat outside in a tiny side street. It is not the most picturesque outdoors seating but it kept us cool in the heat of the noon hour. Overall I would say: go for it! Gnocchi in a mild pesto sauce was light and bright. An arugula, parmesan, ham, sweet cherry tomatoes, egg white and yellow melon salad will never be forgotten. Service was friendly and prompt.
