Chocolate fondant
Tim A.

I've been to over 30 countries (including France twice before) and this was the best meal of my life. I went with my wife, and we shared the camembert appetizer which was loaded with truffles, then we each got the lamb shank special with mashed potatoes, and split the chocolate fondant for dessert. The lamb was tender (fell off the bone with a gentle nudge of the fork) and the spices used were superb. I was tempted to order a second round of it because it was that good, but the portions were also generous so I couldn't. It is a small restaurant, so use WhatsApp to book a reservation. I'll be dreaming about this place for a long time.

Omg this place is amazing!!! You must make reservations, we lucked out and walked up at 645 and they had 1 table of 2 remaining. Both of us had the beef stew and it fell apart on the plate! Best meal we had in Nice! We also had the white choc tart it was yummy too! A def must on your list for dinner! !

OH MY GOD. Absolutely our best meal of the trip. 100% recommend. Ambiance is wonderful service was great and everything we had was amazing. The best beef carpaccio I've had.

Stumbled upon this quaint restaurant in Nice with my boyfriend and had a wonderful dinner. The day's menu had lots of options, including vegetarian. We had a prosciutto and melon salad, goat cheese and honey salad, steak tartare, and beef stew. An amazing meal prepared by a one woman show the talented host/waitress/cook. A unique experience and an even better meal.

So delicious food - felt almost at home. The place is situated in a smaller street, but don't be fooled - a hidden gem in Nice

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked over from a nearby hotel and grabbed a table by myself along the busy street. The servers…read morewere very friendly and spoke English well. It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

I really want to love this place: it has such an intimate feel and just screams Nice. But I've been…read morehere a few times and each time the food has been between OK and good, but nothing particularly memorable. With that said, at €20 this is excellent value for money. Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
