    Soft egg

Our first meal in Nice after a train ride down from Paris earlier that day. To start My husband had the soft egg with mushrooms and asparagus (delicious!) and I had the Ceasar salad with prosciutto which was good too. For dinner he ordered the duck with shrimps and vegetables, which must have been pretty good as he wouldn't share much with me. It featured two pieces of duck breast, seared with the skin on and two large prawns shelled, but with their heads still attached. The somolier recommended either a red for the duck or a white for the prawns, so my husband went with the Pinot Noir as it was light enough to go with both--good choice. For dessert we shared an apple tart with a light caramel sauce. Very good! The restaurant has chalk written menus in both French and English and they speak English very well--which was helpful for us. The clientele that evening was mostly English speaking, but that may have been a random event as it didn't appear to be touristy at all. The decor was lovely and the tables arrangements were fun as they had two sets of bench-style seating in the center of the restaurant. We were seated at one end of a bench, another couple at the other, and about half-way through dinner service a new couple arrived and we had to get up to let them in.

Great place to go for dinner. Food: menu was simple, 4 appetizers 4 main dishes and 3 dessert to choose from. Tried 3 of the appetizers which were all amazing. Had their lamb dish which was great and my friends tried the fish and rib eye. Everything was good. For desert I got the lemon tart dish. Overall food was really good. Service: best part of the restaurant. 2 servers were both very friendly and spoke great English. This definitely stood out from all other restaurants in nice. Great description of menu dishes. Ambiance: nice decor. In and outside seating. Price: 20 to 25 euro per main course.

The food and ambiance were great. Service was a bit slow as there was only one server. The server was very friendly and great, but when it started to get busy disappeared. I still highly recommend but would recommend coming in around 7:00 to avoid heavy traffic.

This is one of the best places for steak in Nice. They were a bit surprised that the guys ordered a steak for two each. Not very French but we were in the mood for steak. Great wine selection and wonderful hospitality. No rude people here! I'll upload some photos and you'll see for yourself

    Tuna with pineapple

Found this place on yelp as I was staying close by and it did not disappoint. We came on a Wednesday night which was great because Isabel had the time to help us choose a wine and walk us through each menu item. We decided on the tuna with pineapple and lamb with risotto which were both outstanding. For dessert we had the creme brûlée with coffee crust which was a nice way to end the meal. Such a delicious meal in a friendly and modern atmosphere I would highly recommend.

    Fish for the day

Went to this restaurant for dinner. Was greeted by a warm and lovely waitress. Had the rabbit meat for a starter and also the fish for dinner. The food and service was excellent. Would definitely come back again the next time I am at Nice. Do note however that the menu changes on a weekly basis if I am not mistaken depending on the season and ingredients. Got this info from the waitress herself.

Worst ribeye in my life, was so tough. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. FYI ordered it medium.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
