    Local white wine.

Went here for dinner one night as it was very close to our hotel. Had their housed-cured salmon app with lemon waffles to start. Very light and flavourful. Mains were roasted cod filet with chorizo and blanquette de veau. Waiter recommended a local white wine for dinner. Everything was just perfect. Food was well prepared and came in a substantial portion. Wine was delicious. Room was very comfortable and had a chill vibe. The service was very professional in a low-key way. And the prices were quite reasonable. We kept thinking that we might have hit the culinary jackpot. Just to confirm our theory, we booked our final dinner in Nice here again. This time we had the cote de boeuf for two with a local red wine, again recommended by our waiter. Again, everything was perfect. We would've gone back again if we had more time. Perhaps on our next visit to Nice.

Butternut squash soup with thinly sliced chanterelles and roasted chestnuts.

Excellent, easy going bistro. Staff is attentive and engaging. Very helpful. Diverse selections on the menu. A little of everything for for all. The butternut squash soup with shaved chanterelles and roasted chestnuts was fantastic. Additionally the braised beef in red wine was the best I've experienced on my trip thru France. Was a great find near our hotel.

We booked last minute and they managed to fit us in but we're concerned that we would feel rushed, French people know how to enjoy their food and us Brits are used to fast food, nevertheless we had a stunning meal here and would return for a slower paced dinner on our next visit to Nice. The main course beef chasseur was stunning and the floating island I had for dessert was just light enough to satisfy. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. What more could you want?

The waitress is quite rude and obviously does not care about her job but the food makes up for it!

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked over from a nearby hotel and grabbed a table by myself along the busy street. The servers…read morewere very friendly and spoke English well. It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
