I was in this business yesterday when a woman came in with a backpack that was expensive and they recommended it not be sewn due to not being able to see the back of fabric and a needle wouldn't cleanly go through the material. The lady answered a long list of agitated questions from the customer who was mad because they suggested it may damage the bag. She literally caused a scene in front of people and then left threatening to leave a bad review. I got on here just to see and looks like she did. Honestly I have done business here for 20 years and they are excellent in taking outside merchandise and customizing it. Unfortunately some people won't take advice and try to pressure their way into the company taking risks and being financially responsible for those. I've never had a single item late or not done right. They do text when complete due to having large volume work going out the door in quick turn arounds. They treat the work serious I'm not sure what more you could ask for. They will always have my business. read more

The owner is the biggest b**** I've ever encountered in a retail store. I called to ask when my order would be ready (which is a normal question) since it'd been 2 weeks since I placed the order and I was in the area. She yelled at me and told me she had no idea when it'd be done and then hung up on me. She then called me back pretending to apologize and told me she had called me to tell me it was ready the week prior (she never did such a thing). You know that business that has been around for a long time, and at one point in time was the only business in the city that provided this service so you just had to deal with it. Welp, this is that business! I chose L&M because of the years of servitude with the Charlotte community. I needed a large order fast, and what other company would I take it to except one where customers have trusted them for years. I was HIGHLY mistaken! The lady is very rude. Literally from the very moment we spoke on the phone she was rude. Another customer walked in the door and was inquiring about a something. She spoke rudely to that lady, and when she left started talking smack, "I'm not doing all that work for $7.00, it's just not worth my time". I decided to just deal with it, because they're "the best". And I can see that rude is just apart of her DNA. Well after 2 days of being yelled at, completely bending over backwards to accommodate any and all requests, she let's me know they can not monogram my shirts. She yells at me on the phone, until I had to literally yell extra loud just to get her to listen. When I went and picked up my shirts, I INSISTED she charge me. I under no circumstances wanted her to think I was trying to get anything for free. She refused to take my money. Once again, I tried to pay her, at least for her time (which was none by the way). She still refused. The day you want to be treated like you know what, and have some lady look down on you, as if you're a peasant, then head on over to L&M Monogramming. My first visit and purchase at L&M Monogramming today! I came her via a friend's recommendation, shopping for a personalized new baby gift. The shop isn't very big, but they have it packed to the brim with items. Normally, I would call the store cluttered, but the quality of everything is so nice, I'll don it "creative use of space" Lots of baby items to choose from: clothes, stuffed animals, luvies, bibs, etc. I ended up going with a tiger bear luvie by Gund. It's was $30, which was a steep... but it was a reliable and durable brand and the monogramming/personalization was included in the price! I also compulsively bought a beach bag for myself. Huge, unique pattern, nice material and only $30. I love it. The staff here weren't beaming with hospitality, but they were kind enough and definitely knew what they were doing. Very professional. I was in a bind with my gift purchase because I needed it by the weekend. Embroiderer told me they were back up for several days, but when I told her I needed it ASAP, she finished it by that afternoon without a rush fee. Awesome! Would probably give L&M five stars if store was larger and more spread out AND/OR prices were a little lower. But meanwhile a solid four stars for quality. read more

I am extremely satisfied with L & M Monogramming. My God Son's baptism was scheduled for 12/28 and me being the procrastinator extraordinaire that I am, assumed a week and a half was plenty of time to get a blanket embroidered. I mean that shouldn't take long right? Well I was right, it doesn't take long but I forgot to factor in the fact that it was the week before Christmas! Everyone was getting gifts and monogrammed. To my dismay I called several shops and was told they were no longer taking items. But not L & M Monogramming. They advised they would squeeze me in and have the item back to by Monday if I brought the blanket in that day. Well I did, and they completed the item early in only two days. The sad part is I didn't know it. I didn't answer any of their calls to advise me the item was complete because I didn't recognize the number. On Monday I called to see if the item was complete and was advised it had been done since last week! I go to pick it up and O NO, my God Son's middle name is spelled Pierre and his name is PIERCE! The next day was Christmas Eve and its already 4pm. They advised they were closing for the holiday and reopening January 6th which means my God Son's baptism would be missed. I then went into panic mode. Do you know they went home that evening and fixed the item and opened the shop especially for me on Christmas Eve to come and get the corrected item? I found this monogramming place in Dilworth and, although I don't need anything monogrammed at the moment, I wanted to check it out for the future. You walk in and are basically on top of everything; there is a pathway cleared amongst all the items and 2 counters that forces you in and around the store even if you don't want to go. I was immediately looked at as if I were in the wrong place as I had nothing in my hands to be monogrammed, and was quickly and snottily asked if I was dropping anything off. I was stuck behind a gaggle of women debating which Kate Spade purse they wanted done as I desperately tried to get out but could hardly make my way around them. I may try again when I actually have the need for some monogramming, and I will try to overlook the pretentiousness of the employees and clientele. read more

I mistakenly gave them the wrong date for pickup when I dropped my product off to be monogrammed. I had to call them THE DAY OF PICK UP to see if there was any way they could have it done early (significantly early to be honest). They were extraordinarily accommodating and got my oversized specialty order finished in less than 2 hours even with the shop packed to the gills with Christmas orders. They went above and beyond for a seemingly insignificant $40 order. I can't say enough about these people. We don't get much embroidery done but you can bet this will be the only shop we ever use. Whomever was in the phone was extremely rude from the beginning when I just wanted to get an idea of their prices, it's really not that hard to offer good customer service and a kind response. This is my first time trying to get something monogrammed so I was not sure what to expect or how to make the order, however, the lady starts yelling and gets very impatient over the phone. I love this place! Although some of the prices of its merchandise are a little more expensive, you pay for the convenience of one stop shopping. They haves anything you could think of to monogram there! And they'll monogram anything you bring in too which is great! Absolute worst customer service experience. Output was beautiful...except it was upside down! When I called out the obvious, I was immediately met with...well, you signed off on the 'ticket'. ...Um ,but, the ticket wasn't upside down....hhhm. Ok, I was desparate for resolve, on a tight timeline- so, no worries, not what I expected, can you help me figure out another option? 'Like I said, Mam, you signed off on the ticket".
