It's a hard Gnocc life for us We've arrived to the Amalfi Coast! The first meal we had off the ferry was at our hotel and the food and the views were outstanding! This was a dream come true to arrive to this beauty We ordered gnocchi and shrimp pasta with lemon drizzle and both were so fresh and light, along with cappuccino freddo's the meal was a great start to Positano every single morning they laid out a breakfast for us as well in which you can see in my photo and with the beautiful views! We made reservations on "Open Table" to find out they don't take reservations unless you are staying at their hotel. Not many seats but it was worth the wait. The view is incredible. The food for us was the best around the Amalfi Coast. read more

The view from our table was amazing! We watched the Positano sunset and the atmosphere was both casual with an upscale flair. Stated with the seafood salad appetizer (highly recommended!!), My husband got the seabream fish (lemon, olives, buttery potatoes) and I got the fried calamari with veggies (very generous portion, but I would probably have gotten something lighter). We had dinner with friends last September at this beautiful restaurant. My review is long overdue. We absolutely fell in love with the views from this place. Breathtaking from every angle. Can't get enough. The food here was amazing. From the small cheese platter we got to the most flavorful pasta dishes we loved everything. I highly recommend dining here while in Positano. Beautiful, open & airy spot with incredible views and friendly staff. We came for drinks midday after trekking up the hill and were greeted immediately and had a very helpful waitress who gave us suggestions on local wines to try. The servers all seemed really close and were playing Italian remixes of American pop hits and dancing with each other. The drinks came with potato chips and nuts and although we weren't hungry enough to have a meal the menu was extensive and the food looked really fresh. If anything, come here and grab a drink. The view here is absolutely amazing but there's at least one waiter that seems to have an issue with Asians. One member of my party stopped by and asked when they open and the shorter, older, and bald waiter brusquely told him there were no available seats as it was closed that day. However, when we walked by a little later we saw people going in and sitting by the side. I decided to ask again. This time I asked another waiter and he said yes, just sit by the side for now (where other groups were) and they will seat people once we open. So we figured it was a misunderstanding, took our seats, and waited. As we sat, we saw others come in and be told to sit at the side and wait for opening. Shortly, service began and unfortunately it was the racist waiter who sat parties. He literally sat every single other party first, even those that arrived after us, until there were two parties left - mine and another party that also happened to be Asian! Incredible. Just in case you still think this was a mistake, during my meal, I saw this guy once again turning away an Asian party inquiring about availability, but suddenly finding room for other non-Asian parties. Come on, L'Ancora, you're okay with this? You want to know about the food? it was fine. Nothing particularly good, nothing terrible. read more

If you want dinner with a view, come here. If you want a nice dinner with a view, you can come here but be cautious. I was so excited to try this place. It was two doors down from our hotel and we walked by it every day. Every time I'd nudge my husband and say, "We have to eat here! Look at that view!" So we did. The view was spectacular, but the food was just okay. We ordered a Rocket Salad, Braised Sea Bass with Potatoes, and Clam Pasta. Meh. For America's standards, it was good, but for Italy, not so much. I thought everything was bland. Also, we asked the waiter for a very dry white wine and it was cloyingly sweet. But, hard to say who is at fault. The waiter? Or the Americans who could not read an Italian wine list? But, it was our last night in glorious Positano and we did not want the evening to end. We splurged on more wine, red this time, and lemon cake dessert. We both did not like the dessert and felt the wine was overpriced for the taste. I'd give this place another chance though, especially for breakfast. The menu looked rather appetizing. Can't beat that view though. That is what we will always remember, not the brothy clam pasta. read more

If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. L'ancora is one of the most gorgeous hotels we have stayed in. Right when we walked in we were greeted by a gentleman by the name of Pasquale. He was very helpful, informative, and even offered to walk us to our room and show us around. The hotel is designed so perfectly and in a unique way. When you enter from the lobby, which by the way has a fantastic view of the gorgeous Positano mountains and the bay, you actually have to go downstairs to go to the rooms. We were on the 3rd floor down. We walked in the room and right away there were stairs. We go by and there was a huge room with a big bathroom with a most amazing view, and when Pasquale opened our balcony door my eyes went all hearts!! The view was magnificent!! I mean how did we get so lucky!! It was incredible. We seriously couldn't get enough. We would watch the sunrise and the sunset right from our balcony. The breakfast was included in our booking, and let me tell you, it was the best way to start our mornings. They had everything from eggs, to fruits, to cheese, to bacon, to omelet, etc. I mean the options were endless. And the location is perfect. We were minutes away from the shore and right in the middle of all the shops. It was the best. The staff is very nice and extremely helpful. We truly left with the most amazing memories. Servers are soo rude and the food had 0 seasoning or flavor. For the price I paid nothing was worth it. The worst part was when the server choose to ignore me and not seat my party as he took others before us to sit and we just stood there for 45 minutes. read more

Came here because I heard it had a great view. Upon arriving we were rushed to order and asked about one of the appetizers. Specifically the Braesola. When it arrived it was chewy and took me a few minutes to be able to swallow a bite. I told one of the servers that it was terrible and to take it away since I had hardly touched it. We then got the rest of our order and the Vongole and bolognese were ok but nothing to write home about. We then asked for the check and they didn't even ask if we wanted dessert (which I did). They refused to take off the Braseola and my waitress came and lied about what she told me to the other waitress. All in all it was frustrating and bad for business. If I ate a 1/10 of the Braseola I understand but it was barely touched and unedible. Unacceptable. Go somewhere else in the area as most restaurants are great and service is on point. P.S. Total tourist trap (mostly obnoxious and loud people). My advice come take a few pictures and leave and eat somewhere better! read more

employees at this restaurant are either done with life or getting paid pennies on the dollar. I arrived at 5:30 and they said they open at 6 (while people were eating). I come back at 6 to be nudged off by the waiter claiming they open at 6:15 just to watch other people arrive and get seated promptly before us. The hostess got mad at me for asking why others are being seated and overall treated me like I owed her something. The food was mediocre especially for the price, not impressed. Needed to find a place that had gluten free and this restaurant had gluten free bread and gluten free pasta! On top of that the view was amazing and the service was very good. I got pasta with the mussels and clams. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was just enough. The gluten free bread was made fresh out of the oven! The restaurant is apart of a hotel so the prices were a little high but it was so worth it for a person who has to ask every restaurant they pass "senza glutine?" Sorry to say the waiter/waitress staff were confused with orders and somehow managed to not take my order! The order I had chicken pollo brace was very dry with no seasonings or taste. Also be careful as they charge for water, etc. Great ocean views and open interior. read more

First time in Positano and I've loved every part of it except this place. Horrendous service. Waiter was literally yelling at customers "What you eat!?" Then the food didn't come out for two hours...and it was wrong. Probably worst of all was that the food was mediocre. Something you could get at an average Italian restaurant in LA or NY. Especially disappointed because everything else we tried in Positano was incredible. Even other places that we thought would be tourist traps had delicious food and excellent service. Our excellent hotel that we stayed at was making all of our reservations for us and the manager even asked if we were sure we wanted to eat here because he said he'd never heard anyone say anything good about it. This place is basically an LA version of a club/restaurant that people want to be seen at because of the great views. It even has a little bar/lounge next door which was the only place that had loud blasting music and tourist lined up trying to get in...basically everything you come to Positano to get away from. Can't stress this enough...stay far far away. read more

Hotel is beautiful. Staff is completely unhelpful and rude. We spent so much money here and I have never met a more rude and unhelpful staff. We needed a cab to the Naples Airport and instead of helping us figure it out, Giuseppe, the person at the front desk just smirked at us and told us we needed to figure it out ourselves. My boyfriend called the hotel and tried to have champagne delivered to the room as a surprise gift since I was on a trip with my friend, and the hotel said it was something they we're unable to do, even though they have an in room dining menu that offers champagne. Our experience was quite different from that of the other reviewers. Three of our four courses (a caprese, a smoked salmon appetizer and a seafood pasta) were decent but unexceptional. The fourth --a seafood risotto-- was excellent. But the service was poor and inattentive. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in Italy. We were not offered a wine list, we finished our mineral water and could not get the attention of any of the servers to order a second bottle, it took forever to ask for a check. We had Christmas dinner here and I immensely enjoyed my lamb. I am gluten free so was surprised when the waiter brought me my own plate of bread. Normally I just watch my man enjoy the various breads so was a nice switch-up. The ambiance is lovely, very romantic, and as a bonus got to view from our table the Christmas fireworks set off down at the beach. read more
