My local tanning spot. Tanning is a necessity for me, because I've not been blessed with a beautiful naturally tan glow. I'm basically the complete other side of the spectrum. Ghostly. Luckily I can fake what my mama didn't give me with the help of a tanning bed. I've been going to L.A. Tan for years at different locations. This one is one of my favorites. The employees have always been super sweet. They always are offering some deal on "tanning dollars" or discounts on lotions. They always help me choose a lotion that'll work for me since I refuse to use bronzers. P.S.A. Although the lotion can be pricey, they are great quality and they don't contain mineral oil. Mineral oil is found in a lot of outdoor tanning lotions and oils. It actually eats away at the acrylic inside the tanning beds. That leads to cracked beds, costly repairs($700-$800 per panel), and longer wait times because those damaged beds are out of commission. Not to mention the injuries the employees have suffered. One girl was showing me the scratches on her hands from when she was cleaning a bed and her hand went thru the acrylic. And how about the time she slipped and fell on tanning oil. Had people been following the rules, these injuries could've been prevented. I also love the other services this location offers. The Hydration Treatment is so relaxing. You basically lay in a warm steam bubble with scented oils and watch a movie or listen to music while you get all nice and hydrated. It's supposed to be done before you tan, but I would recommend it for anyone. They also offer custom spray tans and red light treatments. They are busiest on Tuesday because they offer $5 tans that day. But besides that, the wait is never too long. The rooms are clean and the beds are newer. I have only had great experiences at this location and thanks to a young man that works there. He does an excellent job at being exceptional. He sold me on the sauna and I absolutely love it. So, I am only reviewing because of my amazing experience with Gage. As a black woman, it can feel a bit awkward for me when I go in to get a tan, but I have never felt that way with Gage. He manages to make me feel comfortable and let me know that I am allowed to feel pretty, too, and that if I feel prettier with a tan, I should tan. He is just so nice! 10/10 Service!!! read more

Okay, I have to admit I felt a little, I don't know, intimidated maybe? by going here. I have in my head this image that only women go to these places. I don't mean that to sound sexist. I just never envisioned myself going here. But I am glad I got over myself and went. I needed some UV rays. I think sun is good for my soul and since we don't have any what with the never-ending snow, I took it upon myself to seek out UV. Hence, my pop in over at LA Tan. The two girls working there - Ashley and Meghan - were try helpful in recommending the correct tanning bed and time too. And Ashley even loaned me some lotion since I didn't think to bring any with me. Both of their recommendations were spot on too. I went with the Level 3 bed for 15 minutes and I was pretty much dying by the end of it since it was soooo hot. But I did feel the UV rays and have to say I feel better. Makes me wanna see about working this into my life somehow while we struggle through winter. In fact, I will. I just don't know how often yet but I will figure it all out. Communication is key, right? Not here. The first thing you should know is that I tanned at the LA Tan in Schaumburg a few years ago. You need to know this because it came back to bite me in the butt. I stopped in last January and asked if I could sign up for a month's worth of tanning in preparation for a cruise I was taking in February. Sure, they said, no problem. It was quick and easy because all of my info was in the system from when I was a previous LA Tan customer. I tanned without issue until I went to cancel my package at the end of the month. That's when an employee discovered that I wasn't eligible for a one-month package after all because I had been a previous customer. Hmm, I really would have thought that the girl who sold me the package would have noticed that since all of my info was ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM. She was very sorry, she said, but I would have to pay for at least three months of tanning before I could cancel. Oh, I THINK NOT. After two weeks of fighting back and forth, emails to their corporate office (which were never returned!) and phone calls to the corporate office (which were never returned either!) as well as phone calls to the local salon (which were, surprise, never returned!) I finally got a manager to honor the package that had been sold to me. Stupid me, I then asked if I could put my account on hold rather than outright canceling it so I could tan for a month in May in preparation for a wedding in June (when I had first signed up for my one-month package in January, they told me this wasn't a problem). They told me that in light of all of the confusion, they would honor this promise and that I would not have to commit to anything more than a month. May rolls around and I decided not to tan after all before the wedding, so I went in to cancel the package. First, I was told AGAIN that I couldn't cancel it because I was previous member and needed to pay for at least three months before canceling. I told them that we had had this argument back in February and they agreed to honor letting me only pay for a month. Didn't they have that in their notes, I asked? No. Of course not. Luckily, I had written down the names of the woman who sold me the package in the first place as well as the manager who approved honoring the package. I whipped that out and was told that the girl who sold me the package no longer worked there. After some back-and-forthing, they agreed to let me cancel the package. Hallelujah, right? Not so fast. It turns out that while my account was on hold, I was accruing minutes toward free tans. I had half an hour of free tanning to use, so I decided to use 10 minutes that day and come back the next day - except, when I went to a different LA Tan the next day, my free minutes didn't show up in my account. So I called this LA Tan and was assured that yes, I still had the minutes and just needed to stop by. So I did the next day - and was told I didn't have any minutes to use. I argued that I had JUST spoken to someone the day before who saw them on my account. I then proceeded to repeat this whole story and was given 10 minutes of tanning, probably just so they didn't have to listen to me anymore. Moral of the story: double-check EVERYTHING you are told and get a copy of everything you sign (I was never given a copy of anything). Also, write down the names of everyone to whom you speak. I hate being pale so this of course will be one of my favorite places to go, The staff is very friendly here and the setup in the waiting room is very nice. They have a lot of beds so there is really never a long wait. The thing I don't like about this place is that on their $5 Tuesday's the beds are ovens. I don't think they give them a break at all so I avoid going on this day. read more

I have been going to this salon for 3 years. I absolutely love it! Im surprised these other people had a bad experience, because I have nothing but good things to say. The girls are super nice! The beds at this particular salon always give me the best color. I have been to multiple LA tans, and none compare to this one. I've seen how they clean the beds and they get every spot. The salon always smells good and is always clean. They even keep the bathroom stocked with hair spray, baby wipes, and spray deodorant for their clients. The manager, Amanda, gives great lotion discounts. I love my LA tan Lisle! read more

This LA tan is so dirty and outdated, I drive 15 minutes out of my way to use the LA tan on Ogden. The level 3 lay down is inferior to a level one at most tanning salons, and the staff always seems irritated when someone opens the door. Last time I was here, I was waiting for a bed to be cleaned and a guy came in for a spray tan, and the girl was so rude- seeming annoyed with every question he asked- that he ended up leaving. There's a few LA tans in the area, I would recommend driving the extra mile than stopping in here. Poorly run. Poorly maintained. No thanks. read more

No reviews for this place, so I figured I'd leave one. It's a totally average tanning salon, which basically describes every LA Tan location I've been to. They're anxious to sign you up for the $30/mo unlimited tanning package, which I guess seems like a good deal. I've never had to wait, and the staff is very friendly. The only real nitpick I'd even have, I guess, is that quite a few of the rooms don't seem to have any hooks on the wall to hang your coat and clothes on. read more

Gage is simply amazing! I came into this location because the one on loop road in Wheaton was a bust! The girl working the front was incredibly rude and wouldn't provide me with the blending cream for my spray tan. I walked into the Lisle location and had a complete 180 in the experience. Gage welcomed me with a warm friendly smile and even took the extra step to go above and beyond and recommend a change in my spray tan that I am extremely happy with! I live closer to the Bloomingdale locations but will definitely take the time to come to the lisle location just based on the exceptional customer service Gage provided me! Used to go all the time back in the day. Been trying to save up some money and tanning hasn't been in my budget. (Even though it's super reasonable.) When I'm able to afford it I will 100% go to the Lisle location. Staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable and the deals are great. I bought a gift card for christmas and basically got free money. LATan is a franchise. 3 months ago the franchise was purchased by a different person. Totally gone down hill. The bulbs are burned out in the beds. They have not been replaced, and the beds have not been serviced by a professional. The beds are old. It saddens me because the previous owner was wonderful as far as upkeep. read more

I typically go to the Wheaton location for a spray tan, but when I got there this evening the machine was down. I have a wedding to attend tomorrow and needed color! I looked up the nearest location and ran over to Lisle and got there at 9:58pm. The girls were super nice and bent the rules after I explained what happened. I really appreciated them allowing me spray tan right before they closed. I know they very well could have just allowed me to leave without one. The salon was very clean and nice inside. I'm surprised by the mixed reviews related to the customer service. My husband and I had no issue with the employees, but it was the condition of the rooms that disgusted me. I tan in a level 2 stand up, and room 18 is gross. You could tell the walls and floors hadn't been cleaned in a while, grimey stuff all over. My husband wasn't impressed either, one of the bulbs in his level 1 lay down was burnt out. I typically go to LA Tan in Wheaton, which has great employees and clean rooms. I've been going here for the past two summers, last year I wanted a base for my wedding, this year for vacation. Last years the girls here were great- so sweet, knowledgeable, overall great customer service. This year is a total different story. As an HR professional at a corporate retailer, if we ever found out the people in our stores acted like this, they would be gone in a heartbeat. The girls who work here do not want to help you whatsoever, if you have a question they will literally roll their eyes. I had the same package as last year (I had it freezed and paid 2$/month for a year) but was being charged to use a bed I used free all last year. She absolutely did not want to help or even look into it. I could not believe how blatantly rude she was. The next day I asked a different girl and she explained it to me no problem with a smile. I thought that girl had been the worst customer service associate I had even encountered until today, when I met kaitlyn. She did not smile ONCE, I asked her if the face lamp in one of the beds shut off and she was clearly annoyed that she had to look into the system to find out. She then said no, but I went into the bed and tested it and it did turn off. I only like to turn off the face lamp half way through because I have eyelash extensions and they could melt. So I wanted it turned back on and the face lamp wouldn't turn back on. I had only been in the bed about 30 seconds, I got out and turned the entire bed off and on several times and the face lamp still wouldn't turn back on. I put my clothes on and the girl was no where to be seen. Keep in mind I'm the only person in the building. By the time I finally find her and asked her to reset the bed because the face lamp wouldn't turn on, she storms past me, goes into the room I was in and turns the bed on and off and the face lamp turns on. By then though I had already been out of the bed for a bit so I asked her to reset my time. She literally rolled her eyes at me and continued being A mute. When I was done tanning, typically the girls say "have a nice day!" As I walked out she completely ignored me. Your job is customer service, if you don't like helping people than find another job. read more

If I could I would give this place no stars. I live in Lombard and my normal la tan was closed for the evening, so I drove all the way out to this one (it was the closest one to me that was open). im not surprised with the mixed reviews here, personally Ive had nothing but wonderful service at this location (I used to live in the city, count your blessings because theres something to really bitch about) but I do know what some of the reviewers are saying about when to go in, I work nights as a Chef luckily, but even on a day where I am not working I still won't go in past a certain time, go early you will get Ashley, and or another girl that I unfortunately don't remember her name but she's super sweet as well. The few times a while back ago when I went at night, they were fine to me, but crazy trashy, talking on the phone (not their cell phone, the salon phone) about things no one should have to over hear haha gross... and they were snippy and seemed to just not want to be there, which is fine we all have those days, just be careful when you are in front of customers... either way I wouldn't let it ruin my day, its just LA Tan ladies, not worth effecting your mood lol not to mention theres a crap ton of them everywhere, just go somewhere else, or like I said, go early, I figure most days before 5 and I'm good. The other girls that work later are more of an annoyance than anything else, all in all, I really love this place, its clean and the ladies I see are awesome and thats really all I care about! So I was absolutely shocked when I read the reviews and people claimed that the staff here was nice. That depends. There is one nice girl and the rest are just god awful. Especially if you're coming in near close. My sister and I came in twenty five minutes before close to do a tan that would be twenty minutes; first of all, no one was up front, there was two employees outside smoking who rolled their eyes when they had to put out their cigarettes to come help. Then she refused us doing the full time because she didn't want to "wait around" for us. She would only allow us each to do fifteen minutes so that we'd be out in time for her to close. The beds here are good, the bulbs seem to be changed often but I find myself making a drive three times as long to go to the Ogden location where the girls aren't absolute bitches. read more

Been tanning here for three years. After dealing with these horrible employees eyes rolling at me, and disgusting attitudes, I was harassed in this location. I was never told not to use oil on their tanning beds and when they found out last week I was, instead of asking me not to do that anymore nicely, I was yelled at in front of every customer in the store by FOUR of their employees. I explained no one had ever told me, and was called a liar by all four of them because they wanted to save their jobs and hadn't asked me to show my lotion on the way in. I was chased out of the store and they are lucky I did not call the cops on them. After I left a friend overheard them writing nasty comments about me on my customer report. I tried calling corporate multiple times and refuse to even go to the manager because I heard they are even nastier than the employees from other friends who have gone here. Worst customer service I have ever gotten in any place in my whole life. Do not go here unless you want to be belittled and slandered against. read more
