Right off the bat, Brian was responsive and set up a FaceTime call with us. He set up an appointment and showed up! He gave us a great breakdown of what was realistic with our budget. He marked up what he tv ought would look good bc we had ZERO IDEA what to do lol. His team was absolutely fantastic and professional. They set up their own porter potty (lol idk why that was nice but i was kind of worried they'd have to come in with their dirty shoes lol). The men were all very polite and Brian was on site majority of the time. I will say it's important to be available during the install since Brian will make sure you approve of the items before they're installed. He will offer other options that might cost more to install but it is to make your yard look the best it can and he was never weird when we said we would pass on something. He went over 90% of what to expect during the project and has been very receptive to any questions we had after the fact. Called and asked about work for landscaping needs only to be told that initially that if the work wasn't over 3,500, that it wouldn't be scheduled. Two days after sharing a video of my property, the price changed to 3,800. Mightily crazy to have a pay cut off for work being done and then to also be able to change a price within a few days especially in Los Angeles where we are limited on water to be used on property. As I was willing to pay what was needed to get it done correctly, there was never a chance. I think there should be a notice that there's a minimum on the site to keep people from wasting their time. read more

We found Brian on Yelp and all the reviews are spot on. We transformed our yard from a lot of grass to drought tolerant garden taking advantage of a $5/foot rebate from DWP. He and his sister spent time with us to get the design just right which instantly got approved by DWP. They are designers - look at all the curves, textures, colors, repeating patterns. T First his bid came in too high so he came over to talk it through. We told him where we wanted to come in and we reviewed each line item - swapping out fancier rocks or borders and got the price where it needed to be. he process was very collaborative- we picked out the plants together. We selected the rocks, boulders, mulch rain barrels and lighting with his direction. His team (all his employees) is very hard working and you could tell they were proud of their work. Our neighbors commented how each day the the work site was left Throughout the delays because of the rain, Brian was responsive, communicative and upfront. we are looking forward to watching it grow. Due to a materials delay, he is coming back to install two trellises and a birdbath. I also referred him to an interior designer I love and she was impressed by him and his work. read more

Edit: so the owner left a reply to this review saying many people are having DG issues after the rain. The photos I posted were taken either directly (like literally when the crew left) after install or within a week or two - NOT after the rains we had in. LA Plants also states that he indeed purchased the correct material. If indeed true, then it would mean the issue is with their installation. Incompetent - the only word that comes to mind when thinking about the job LA plants did. I've waited about a year to post this review to see how things settled. I generally do not waste my time with reviews but the work LA plants did was below average at best. Their team had to come back to our property five or six times after 'completion' to fix glaring issues like irrigation that was not glued together flooding our backyard to the decomposed granite they installed which is really just dirt or they installed DG without stabilizer - a very big No no for areas that will be traversed upon. We paid for decomposed granite and probably got just plain dirt from another project of theirs or they cheaped out and got some without stabilizer. The DG turns into mud at the slightest bit of moisture, flakes off like dried mud when dry and cracks into deep crevices. This is either really poor installation or just not the right material. Several plants straight up died due to no irrigation even being laid to them for whatever reason. The garden beds I provided to be installed were crooked and were literally missing screws in some places. There was NO weed blocking fabric installed underneath. They also for some reason setup wiring for lights which I never asked for so we have random wires sticking out of the ground several inches in the front yard...they never removed them lol. And of course since the DG install was so poor, the areas around the exposed wiring they left have just eroded away leaving huge holes around them that get bigger and bigger as time passes. I am constantly having to backfill it. To be fair, la plants did replace some of the dead plants they messed up and came back to fix some issues. But the major ones still persist. I've walked on dg pathways that have been there for years if not decades with hundred if not thousands of people walking on them daily in parks, beaches and public spaces. Ours looked worse than those within a week. My neighbors with dg can dance in the rain all day on their dg, we just get a puddle of mud. We now have to redo our yards spending more money to fix the work LA plants did. I imagine all reviews listed were made right after install when things look good. Brian @ LA plants is responsive but would more than often bump appointments or straight miss them. Unfortunately it's not worth the trouble taking to small claims court. I have dozens of pictures, it's a shame Yelp won't let me upload them all. As mentioned earlier by Brian, they did come back to address several of the issues like irrigation issues and dead plants. The others like the SECOND backyard flooding were handled by myself. Thank god the flooding to my neighbors yard was minimal. The dg still looks very poor and is falling apart. read more

Brian's pricing was the most reasonable, and he was able to do the work quickly. He completely transformed by backyard within 2 weeks. During the work, he was very responsive - always let me know what was happening during each phase of work and what to expect. He was careful to educate me on what he recommended and why. He cares a lot about customer service, and that really comes through in his work. I felt like I was in good hands throughout the process.
