Amazing. One of the best bakeries in Wallingford. My first visit was fantastic. Walked in and it smelled amazing as the owner was baking brownies. She was so kind and patient letting me take my time looking at all the goodies. The store is small, well organized, and smells delish. I tried the millionaire bar and the Russian tea cakes. Best Russian tea cakes I've ever had. Soooo delicious. Perfect bite and texture. The millionaire bar was outstanding. The caramel was thick and yummy and perfectly balanced with the dark chocolate on top. Still thinking about those Russian tea cakes omg. Highly recommend and I'm super excited to try more treats here! read more

Very unique bakery items. They even have some vegan options too! We had a little sample of an earl grey lemon cake that was vegan and it was delicious! The items we tried were all lovely and the staff were very sweet and accommodating even though we'd accidentally stumbled in 10 minute to close. It's small and quaint without really any seating for dine in (inside or out) but I think there's lots of spots you could sit nearby with take away. read more

Finally got to try Lá Liath Bakery and it did not disappoint! The millionaire bar was definitely the winner with shortbread, caramel and chocolate. The custard cream was very good too. The sausage roll and caramelized onion pasty were delicious but would have tasted even better if they were warmed up. The service was very prompt and friendly. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area when they are open! read more

Hello! You had me at sausage rolls! We've known about Marenka and La Liatha since her days as a vendor at the Shoreline Farmer's Market and then Queen Anne. During her soft opening, I went two consecutive weekends to pick up the highly anticipated, delicious sausage rolls. I purchased a few to heat up in the air fryer. Everything she makes is magic! Amazing British inspired bakery. The madewell bar is one of the best dessert bars I've ever tried. It has toasted almonds, marzipan, and a layer of jam perfectly complementing the rich, buttery crust. I also loved the millionaire shortbread. The shortbread was so buttery as well, and insanely rich and delicious against the perfectly and toasty balanced caramel and deep chocolate topping. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking to pick up desserts! read more

I saw an Instagram post about a tea biscuit assortment from Lá Liath Bakery and noted their presence at opening day of the Shoreline Farmers Market. I was there after the 10am opening (6/3/23), such a crowd on such a pleasant, sunny Saturday! I had the opportunity to meet Marenka Dobes, owner/chef of la Liath Bakery and thankfully there was a tea biscuit assortment available. Lovely, welcoming individual. She crafts her freshly baked goods line from a commercial kitchen in Georgetown. Can't wait when she opens her shop in Wallingford! I managed to hold off two hours before admiring then nibbling through the four types of tea biscuits. As it brought a smile and genuine satisfacation, these are highly recommended at treat for yourself or to share. Makes a terrific gift, just because. Excellent find! read more

This new British baked good show on 45th and Wallingford will not disappoint! If you're looking for some flaky goodness, you should stop here. I was very exited to see this shop open up and I look forward to how they will grow. Hours are limited at this time so be sure to check business hours! There's a nice selection of tea cookies and shortbread cookies. My favorite is the Sami sage roll. Very flaky and with a yummy sausage on the inside. They have a cheddar scone that will be lovely warmed up. The owner is very nice and gives thorough explanations of each baked good. Looking forward to trying the treacle tart that I've only ever known about in books! It's a cute little shop that is absolutely worth a visit. I enjoyed taking my goods to eat in the Wallingford park on a sunny day. I look forward to my next visit! read more

What a delightful experience! This weekend, my partner requested a carrot and walnut cake with cream cheese frosting -- not from a box -- for his birthday. Though I felt confident in my ability to make something *edible* I knew he deserved better. The lovely folks at Lá Liath saved the day by selling me a whole cake that was exactly what the birthday boy wanted. They were kind and helpful, and really don't know how much I appreciate the beauty and simplicity in how the cake was frosted. This place is so good. We have tried the Guinness Chocolate, Russian Tea Cake, Jammy Dodgers, Millionaire Bars, Custard Cream, Bakewell and Victoria Sponge cake. I don't normally leave reviews but this bakery is amazing. i ordered tea and holiday cookies along with a Bakewell tart and lemon loaf for Christmas and everything was over-the-top good. I've never actually been to La Liath bakery, but I know they have a pickup location for their goodies in Georgetown. I've only purchased their goods at Marketime Foods in Fremont. I think they are also sold at Ken's Market in Greenwood and Friday Afternoon Tea in Wallingford. I think they also have various pop ups that you can find on their website, and might be sold at farmer's markets. I would advise you check their website for updates. Their millionaires shortbread cookies are the best. It has a layer of shortbread cookie, topped with a fat layer of soft caramel, and a thin layer of dark chocolate. The shortbread is so buttery, it almost falls apart when you open the wrap around the cookie. I can eat so many of them in one sitting, I have to hold myself back from buying them all at Marketime. I really want to try and checkout some of their other goodies and locations! read more

Marenka is AMAZING! I ordered the "locals only" Tea Time box, and my friends (who may or may not get them all), are going to be thrilled when they see the treats I am bringing them! I mentioned that I was going to be traveling with my baked goods, so she took the time to individually wrap each cookie and biscuit. Who does this? It was so thoughtful of her to do this! She could have just told me to keep them upright and not to bump them around. I love and appreciate that she made the effort to make sure each biscuit would arrive without breakage. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The Georgetown location is tucked into the industrial area, parking can be difficult, but totally worth trying to find it. The little walk-up window is your clue that you are in the right place. I was referred here by a British friend (who tells everyone how amazing she is) and will be referring her to anyone that will listen.
