Having trouble getting into one of the amazing Ann Kim restaurants? Yeah, me too. Well, I have a little secret for you. If you can schlep out to a hotel in Eagan, you find Kyndred Hearth, a cavernous, sleek and modern Pizza palace. TH-th-there is so much space...th-th-they have some open tables and aren't booked out until 2035???? I joke, but we came here with the kids for an early dinner and walked right in. I am not joking on the size. There is tons of space between tables, in the dining room, there is a large open kitchen you can see from everywhere and a large, spacious bar & lounge, that is definitely on my list to return for drinks. There is a lot to devour on the menu, but we stuck to pizzas. The quality of the pies are just as excellent as her other pizza outposts. Service was on point as well. Oh, and there is a lot of parking since it is a hotel. What this restaurant achieves is all the upside of an excellent Ann Kim pizza place with none of the downside of cramped seating, impossible reservations and nowhere to park. read more

I came here because a friend recommended it. It's on the main level of the Omni Hotel near the Vikings training facility. There's a large parking lot with plenty of parking, a friendly greater was just inside the door. We sat down and were greeted by a server fairly quickly. Our server seemed busy so service was a little bit slow. I ordered a margarita and it was AMAZING! Best one I've ever had and probably the best thing I had all night. For an appetizer we ordered the meatballs. They were good. Loved the sauce they were served with. The table next to us ordered the meat and cheese board - that looked excellent. I ordered the pasta with lobster. My husband ordered a salad with steak. (Under the salad options, you can add a meat to your salad, steak was one of the options) Unfortunately, the server thought he wanted the salad with a steak dinner. When she brought the salad out awhile later, there was no steak and no dinner for me. When we asked about the steak, she said "Oh, I thought you wanted the steak dinner." We pointed to the menu where it says you can add steak to the salad and she said that the steak dinner was already being cooked. It was a $23 difference and my husband kindly said he didn't want the entire steak dinner. She said she'd figure something out. Then they brought my pasta out. We sat for awhile waiting to see what they'd figure out with the dinner. After about ten minutes, our server told us that they wouldn't charge us for the full dinner - they'd just charge us for what we ordered. My dinner was good but it had only about 5 bites of lobster and mostly pasta. The steak dinner was pretty good but it was a really chewy Denver steak. The Bibb salad was delicious. When making the reservation, they asked if we were celebrating anything and I mentioned it was my birthday, but when we arrived and through the whole night, no one mentioned it - so I'm not sure why they ask? The ambiance was very nice. The hotel lobby is beautiful. We even spotted a couple vikings players. Overall it was a nice evening! This is our favorite date nice restaurant! We absolutely love the Skol burger - it is a mix of sweet with special sauce and sautéed onions and savory with the burger and cheese. The Korean Fried chicken sandwich is amazing as well it's the best fried chicken sandwich we have ever had. It does have a little bit of spice so we ask for toppings on side so I can put the sauce on myself and toppings. The mushroom appetizer is hands down the best mushroom dish I have ever had. This restaurant is definitely top 5 fav in Minnesota. For starters, the wings are out of this world just very small so be sure to order a couple orders. The chicken sandwich is absolutely incredible. The coal fire pizza here is amazing super delicious. But it doesn't end there... As far as dessert the Honey cake with vanilla soft serve Ice cream is superb! I ask for caramel and indulge in this melt in your mouth deliciousness! Day 3 in business and we decided to give them a shot. Since we were staying at the hotel, it certainly made sense. We arrived as a party of 2 around 640pm, without reservations. The dining room was full and we opted to sit at the bar. Honestly, we most likely would have opted for the bar either way, as we were planning to try about 6 drinks. We were greeted immediately and, in Omni fashion, by name, frequently. The staff were friendly and appeared to be enjoying themselves, which reflects well in the service provided. Ben was killing it at the bar. I started with an Untraditional Manhattan. If you like a smoked drink, (not everyone does), this one's for you! The presentation was fabulous and the flavor complex. We ordered & were advised that plates come up as they are prepared & may not be together. I moved on to the Smooth Flight (twist on Aviation), creamy & botanical- another hit. The first plate came out here, the lumache, piping hot. We snapped a few shots &, just as the broccolini was placed in front of us, the last dish, hanger steak, appeared as well. Our barkeep approached & noted that I hadn't touched the pasta, which had been there 6 minutes. Now, this was a tip & rating bump because he was clearly paying attention and was concerned. He explained again that plates come out as they are ready, vs as a table, based on their concept. He was worried that the staggered delivery may not have been to our liking. Everything was perfect though. The pasta was firm and made a great vessel for the sauce. There was a nice warmth to it, contrasting the sweetness of the lobster & making it a fantastic choice for a cool night. The broccolini was bright & crisp-tender, salty cheese & a touch of charred lemon balanced it out. The winning dish for us was the hanger steak - the fresh herbs, tangy sauces and tender lettuce wrap - I swear it wasn't that we were rounding drink 3! Which brings us to the Old Fashioned. This was our winning drink of the evening. It was so well balanced &, the kicker was the Vikings symbol in the ice block - genius. I ended by being difficult, and requested a g&t with Hendricks and asked for it smoked. They didn't even flinch - they were even excited to do it. Ambiance in this hotel restaurant is very pleasing and one of my favorite parts is that you can see the pizza oven and kitchen. This was vitally necessary as I needed some entertainment after Kyndred Hearth ignored their reservation system. Very busy restaurant and made an OpenTable reservation, arrived early but was told that they wouldn't be able to seat me (not a problem). 15 minutes pass after my reservation time and still no luck even after seeing multiple tables open up. Reception was too busy playing on their cell phones to notice I guess. Finally, a nice woman picked up the queues and brought me to a table. Again at the table ignored for 15 minutes but our server, Ashley, handled everything greatly. They need to get her more help as we could see she was taking care of half the restaurant and multiple large parties. Food was mediocre: Meatballs are a little watery and bland Sweet Italian pizza toppings are very nice and packed with flavor, I thought the menu said it came with pepperoni but it was just sausage as the protein Korean fried chicken sandwich has perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken but beware of the buns that are clearly from Costco Strawberry shortcake is complete TRASH; you can have the same experience if you stuff blocks of chalk in your mouth, soooo dry read more

A friend and I visited on a Wednesday evening around 8:15pm. We were seated right away. The restaurant was nice. I like the different designs throughout the restaurant. Our waiter Josh was very knowledgeable and explained the entire food and beverage menu well. We enjoyed the Caesar salad, tavern 20 pizza, and Korean chicken sandwich. All were delicious! The Caesar salad was very tasty, the soy egg was something I've never tried but very good. The tavern 20 pizza was delicious and cooked to perfection. The flavors complaint each other so well. The pizza crust is light and fluffy. The chicken sandwich was also great. Highly suggest not skipping dessert and having the soft serve olive oil ice cream... fantastic! Kyndred Hearth has a large dining room and bar, patio and private party room on the bottom floor of the Vikings Omni Hotel. They also have a great patio with a view of Vikings Lakes. The wood fired pizza by Ann Kim is amazing, we always order the Tavern Pizza, it's a must! The warm olive appetizer is also a great snack, the Caesar and bibb salads are delicious and the Butchers Cut steak is always mouth watering - one of my favorite steaks! I was attending a conference at the hotel, and I have to say this place far exceeded my expectations for a hotel restaurant. They opened up on a Monday night for us, which they don't normally do, but they were fully staffed and well-prepared for us. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. YUM. Everything that we had was delicious. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. The only reason I'm knocking a star off is for a service blunder and a hair in our dessert. We had a pizza and vodka pasta that we added sausage to and both were amazing. The two others at our table got a wagyu steak special for the night that was unreal.. unfortunately the special didn't come with any sides or salad and as it was wagyu it was spendy, but the compound butter on the steak was drool worthy. The server came to our table after about 25 minutes to mention that she forgot to put our order in. Thankfully we had great company and cocktails, but it ended up making our night out a little longer than expected. Other than that mistake, she did know the menu really well and brought us a round of drinks and dessert on the house. Our son lives in this area by Minneapolis and they've eaten here a few times. When we visited them, they treated us to an evening meal there. Make a reservation so you'll be able to get a table. The only one available was for 8:15 pm. That's later than we usually eat, but it was worth the wait! I had the Korean fried chicken sandwich with broccolini substituted for fries. The chicken was crispy, with the right amount of breading. There was slaw on top of the chicken and an aioli sauce with just the perfect amount of kick. The broccolini was crispy, cooked right. Others at the table got some pasta dishes and a tavern pizza. All of it was tasty, but I liked mine the most! The food came out as it was ready, which is unusual for us. The pizza was almost gone before the next entree was out. Everyone was friendly, and we got a carafe of water for our table. Dishes were removed as we finished the food. I am going against the grain on Kyndred Hearth by giving it three stars but I can only rate it average at best. Kyndred Hearth is located in the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel near the Viking facility in Eagan. The Hotel is new and not in my opinion particularly welcoming. It is in the middle of nowhere with nothing in walking distance. I would not want to stay there. The restaurant itself is large and dark - one reviewer appropriately termed it cavernous- and although the staff were friendly the venue itself was far from inviting. Most of the diners seemed to be middle aged males who appeared to comprise groups of business associates. Kyndred Hearth (I would be interested in knowing the origin of that name and also Ann Kim's reported role in its operation) seems to be a cross between casual and fine dining. They offer burgers and pizza as well as steaks, pasta, and a few other entrees . They have a fairly extensive list of craft cocktails and an unimaginative wine and beer selection. Our group consisted of my wife, our daughter, our son and his wife, our 20 year old grandson and 9 year old granddaughter. We started out with cocktails. I had a non alcoholic cocktail called the spice sour since I was driving. It was very good and I didn't miss the booze at all. We then started out with the meatball appetizer, chicken liver pate', and the tavern pizza. I thought the meat balls and pizza were okay and the pate' was very good. For entrees four of us had Korean braised short ribs, one had the pasta bolognese, one had the fish of the day, and my 9 year old granddaughter had the children's burger with fries. I had the braised short ribs. This was a large and tender piece of meat (more pot roast than ribs actually). It was okay but there was no Asian flavor, Korean or otherwise. The ribs (boneless) were served with a bland sauce (gravy), over cooked bak choy, some Asian style mushrooms, and watery polenta. Nothing really popped flavor wise and it really lacked any Asian flavors. The service was fine. My granddaughter ordered milk which was sour but she didn't tell us until we were leaving. The consensus of our party was while the food was okay, none of us had any desire to return. read more

Ambiance is a peaceful, minimalist, airy open layout/ high ceiling natural feel. Service was top notch. Husband loved his wagyu steak. I ordered the salmon and as described, it was around 6 oz. I can't remember, but it was small and I wish they offered a larger portion grilled fish, I don't eat rice pizza or noodles which is added to most entrees. The waiter allowed a vegetable substitute but I still felt like the price was high for such a small cut of fish and a side of broccolini. This place is great if you don't have an aversion to grains (pizza, pasta, rice) but if you're a low-carber, then order the tasty, expensive steak or look elsewhere. The food here comes out when it's done. Was fine with us but just don't expect your salad before you entree. OVERALL: It's a nice place to go once to experience it but maybe I'm just not understanding all the hype? I'm a fan of Ann Kim (+ Young Joni, Sooki & Mimi) but for some reason this missed the mark in comparison. Took awhile to get food, refills on drinks, and even to order additional items (we started with apps). FOOD: We ordered the Chinese five spice wings to start, and they were good in flavor but absolutely tiny wings and drummies! For entrees we got the hanger steak, Korean fried chicken sandwich, and the lobster pasta (sub for pappardelle noodles). The hanger steak was a pretty good portion, cooked well, the sides it came with were a little odd with just lettuce and mint? So even if we were to wrap it, it would be veggie on veggie. Feels like it needed a starch like rice noodles to wrap it if that was the purpose. The Korean fried chicken had good flavor and the French fries on the side were a nice touch and they were really salty. The lobster pasta could've used more flavor (I was told it would be spicy, and it wasn't even close to Minnesota spicy!) and more lobster. The dessert is really where is missed the mark. They were gracious enough to give us the desserts as it was my birthday! Soft serve with caramel and cocoa nibs, and the apple crisp. The soft serve was really really icey and we left half of it there. The cocoa nibs were yummy though. For the apple crisp, I have to say this is the most disappointing thing. It was just a little bit TOO crisp as the burnt/charred areas really dominated all the flavor. The apple was cooked down too much so it lost all flavor. We also only ate half of it (also it is TINY!). This time missed the mark unfortunately. I have gone previously and tried the mushroom side, I would come back solely for that and only that, but it isn't reliable as each time I've been back since they've been out of it (even when coming right at open). DRINKS: We tried multiple drinks, my favorite was the grapefruit blossom. It was sweet and refreshing.The rock star martini is heavy on the cinnamon and if it was warm, would've pretty much been a hot toddy. PRICES: another main reason why the stars are out of three. Don't get me wrong, I would eat the food again but for the value, probably not. I've had better of each of the entrees at a lower cost. The lobster pasta at $25 isn't bad, but it also isn't that great. The hanger steak at $34, once again good but not great. The Korean fried chicken is worth the most value as it comes with a side of fries for $17, but once again paying a premium since it's located in a hotel. The drinks ranged from $12-$15. The wings were $14, and once again, not worth it for how small they were. I'm sad that this wasn't a better experience or review, but truly it just didn't live up to the caliber of a lot of restaurants at this price range. Maybe that'll change for me, but until then I most likely wouldn't come back unless it was for 1 drink and a guarantee that the miso mushroom is there. read more

Beautiful restaurant with a variety of menu items from pizza to steak to seafood. We tried to chicken wings and the maitake mushrooms. When have you ever found maitake mushrooms on a restaurant menu? I haven't ever. It was amazing. Wings were amazing too. Bar has a great list of cocktails and beer. They will make whatever you want them to make too. Previous Viking players frequent here so if you are a fan, chances are you'll see someone you recognize. Currently closed on Sundays but they hope to start opening daily soon. read more

Wow, we live in Eagan but enjoyed a little staycation at the Omni Viking Hotel for a night. The hotel is gorgeous and the restaurant is fantastic. Amazing wine selection - you can try a variety of wines and they offer a 3 oz or 6 oz pour. We had the charcuterie board with olives to start, then shared meatballs, broccolini and brussies and finished with olive oil ice cream and apple crisp. Yum!! How lucky are we to have a James Beard award wining chef South of the River? Kyndred Hearth is everything I expected from an Ann Kim venture and more. Yes, I am an unapologetic fan girl of AK, but I challenge anyone to eat at any of her restaurants and try to resist their charms. The space itself is gorgeous. Wide open, lots of wood and palatial ceilings. I've never been a bar person, but I have finally found a place in the southern suburbs where I would love to meet friends or clients for socializing that feels classy and mature. The staff is so professional, one of the highlights of eating at Ann Kim's restaurants is the level of service for food that's not pretentious and is accessible to everyone, not just an elite few. I'll start by saying how happy I was to see the Tavern Pie on the menu of Kyndred Hearth. Ann Kim makes a lot of great pizzas, and I love several of them, but the Tavern Pie is perfection in its simplicity. Pepperoni, jalapeño and honey. I don't know why these ingredients add up to an exceptional pie, but they do. The menu is tight, but effective-a fusion of Italian and Korean that works on every level. You can't go wrong with any of the apps-the meatballs and arancini are my favorite. The chopped salad is so much more than typical restaurant offerings. Vibrant flavors that can be enhanced with protein. Of the entrees, I've tried the hanger steak which is served with lettuce wraps. Probably my favorite, but I also loved the pappardelle and lumanche. As simple as the broccolini sounds, it's delicious and I wouldn't visit without adding it to any meal. So flavorful, I'd even order it as an appetizer. I'm torn on dessert. I love them both, so unless you're dining alone get the budino and the soft serve ice cream with olive oil. Share them, indulge and enjoy! read more

Food ordered and received in a timely fashion, hot and plentiful. The guy filling the water glass did not recognize any gesture of politeness when at the table. I try to thank anyone who gives service of any kind and he never flinched a bit. He did keep the water glasses full. There was such a contrast in the two servers who visited our table. The old fashion was remarkable, but the Manhattan, while served as a novelty, you had better like smoke as it is a smoky drink which was a nice added touch. The waiter, AJ, served it up in style. Signature cocktails are priced around $16. I like a good Manhattan, however, I did not care for this one, probably the Remy Martin Riserva vermouth they added. The ambiance was pleasing as it was not the normal tight squeeze small areas as in most of the MSP St Paul restaurants. The area was open, and friendly. It's under two miles from our house and the pizza oven and some of the pies are identical to Pizzeria Lola! My wife has loved the scallops and fish she has had there. I love their hanger steak.
