The final invoice was also split with the deposit, which we paid a couple weeks in advance during the scheduling process, so the final invoice wasn't nearly as bad as we hoped. Everything was fine with the move until it came to moving my TV. The movers claimed that the TV was…read morealready broken, even though it was working the morning of the move and the night before. They stated that they always ask customers to turn on their TVs before loading them onto the truck. However, they did not ask me to do this, nor did they follow that procedure with the smaller TV in my bedroom. What I also don't understand is why I would ask them to move a broken 70-inch TV in the first place. If I knew the TV was already broken, there would have been no reason for me to pay movers to transport a large, broken TV to my new home. When I tried to discuss the situation with the owner/manager, the conversation unfortunately became confrontational. He raised his voice, became defensive, and accused me of lying about the TV working before the move. Moving is already expensive, and I don't believe it's fair that I should now have to cover the cost of replacing a TV that was working before the move. I have since submitted a formal damage claim with the company and filed a complaint with the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS). I hope we can come to a fair resolution. I also want to make it clear that I am not looking for any of the individual movers who helped us to face unnecessary consequences. They were friendly and otherwise did a great job with our move. I simply want the situation handled fairly and to be compensated for my damaged TV. I understand that accidents can happen during a move and that sometimes things get damaged. If the damage had been caused by something I did, I would absolutely take responsibility for it. I'm only asking that the same accountability be shown here and that we can come to a fair resolution.
