I went in for an oil change. I would normally go to Walmart but there were no appointments available and Kwik Kar was the only place open on this particular day. I wouldn't say they were nice or rude. They were just there to do their jobs until they could go home. I did have to wait a while as they have a first come first serve style of service, but the oil change itself took less than 10 minutes. I brought a book because Walmart usually takes a good hour but I read less than a chapter before I was paying and out of there! You may think, "sweet, a nice quick oil change," but they have a lot of "included" services that get skipped over in order to make it that fast. For example, a windshield wash is included in every oil change. My windshield desperately needed cleaning and it did not get washed! I remember spraying windshield washer fluid to clean it on my way home, that's when I realized they totally skipped that step. Also! Their prices are pretty crazy. Just look up "Kwik Kar coupon" on your browser and they should have some on their site. I used a $30 off coupon so the price went from $95 to $65, which is just over what I pay at Walmart. I don't recommend this place for an oil change, but if you're out of options, it's not horrible. read more

The technicians here fraudulently convinced my spouse that $400+ of completely non-essential maintenance was needed and long overdue. It's now "been approved and service completed" and they refuse to do anything about it. Totally insane! FOR EXAMPLE: 1) the Transmission and all fluids were replaced by the manufacturer recently. The Kwik Kar service technician said the car needed new transmission fluid! $200! 2) the brakes and brake fluid were replaced in the last 12 months. The Kwik Kar service technician said it needed new brake fluid! $110! 3) Kwik Kar charged $75 for "cabin air filter & tools" - the part which costs less than $15 to buy at Walmart and takes any reasonable person 5-10 minutes to change! 4) Kwik Kar charged $110 for "Fuel System Cleaner" - which the car absolutely did NOT need, and would have cost $20 to do yourself. Raphael, the sales manager, absolutely refused to take any sort of accountability for willfully misleading my wife and mis-quoting a number of work orders that WERE FACTUALLY PROVEN TO BE COMPLETELY UNECCESASRY. Instead, he simply repeated the canned response of "the work was approved" - I KNOW it was approved, because you FRAUDULENTLY convinced an unknowing person, under the guise of being a professional, that the work was highly recommended and that the car needed it!!! I wouldn't trust a single thing that these guys say. Great job, guys, you took advantage of a trusting and sleep-deprived mother and convinced her that a laundry list of completely and totally unnecessary services were necessary. I went to get an oil change at this location, expecting a simple and routine service. However, it ended up costing nearly $200. After inspecting my car for a few minutes, the technician approached me and said he wanted to show me something. He presented an air filter, claiming it was mine, and pointed out that it was very dirty and needed to be replaced. I could see that it was indeed dirty, so I agreed to the replacement. He then recommended an injector service, explaining that it would help the car run more smoothly. When I asked about the price, he said it would be $120, so I declined the additional service. When the bill arrived, the total was almost $200. I questioned the amount, explaining that the oil change was supposed to cost $110 and the air filter $40, and that I also had a $15 coupon. Upon reviewing the invoice, I noticed additional charges, including a "special oil filter" and an $8 fee for "shop supplies." It is very disappointing and upsetting to feel taken advantage of. I left the shop feeling sick to my stomach. As a woman with an accent, I can't help but feel that I was treated unfairly and overcharged because of it. No customer should ever be made to feel that way. I would ask the person who handled my service to consider how they would feel if someone treated their own family member in the same manner. Went in for brake pads on front and back. I had the groupon for $160 and dropped the car at 8am. They told me upfront that the rotors on the back needed extra work. We discussed a new price and he said $299 and it would be about 90 minutes. I called at 10:30am. They didnt have the right parts and had to order them. They would be here soon. About 1pm they call and are having difficulty taking off one of the wheels. Finally at 2, they are done. Finall price out the door was $419. I am not a mechanic and $419 may be a good pricce for what I got. Poor communication led to my feeling that they took way too long and charged me a lot more than originally stated. read more

Can I give zero stars? My husband and I took our cars in for inspections and oil changes last Friday. For my husband: they wouldn't pass his car and this Kwik Kar location said he needed new tires and new brakes. A brake specialist came out (cause KK couldn't get it done even tho they said they'd give a $100 discount) and said my husband had 20,000 miles left on his brakes. Now we wonder if he even needed new tires! Side note: the brake specialist asked if it was the richardson Kwik Kar that told us the brakes needed relaxing. Even other professionals know they are ripping people off. My car passed inspection but they installed an air filter without asking or getting approval (I wouldn't have) and while changing my oil they either broke the undercarriage covering or attempted to "fix" it by zip thing it to a space where it should be screwed in. It didn't hold and the entire panel bent under and was dragged on the road, putting me in danger, and damaging it to the point another auto repair place had to throw it away. Liars. Thieves. Cheats. Do NOT take your car here for any repair! I have long used them and hate that this is the level of service they have now. read more

I brought my car in with a power steering issue I wasn't expecting after having had the power steering flushed a month ago. They refilled the fluid and let me know that there are no cracks and at no cost. They further pointed out an issue with an axle that they didn't have the equipment to fix. I said I wanted synthetic in my Lexus and when they were filling the oil, I saw the oil fill hose they were using had the synthetic/conventional "blend" label on one side which is NOT what I asked for. They said that was old label from the old business and they use Valvoline which has a sticker on the other side which was conventional (also, very wrong oil). They said that sticker was wrong too and they "just know which hose goes to what based on how they are connected down below". Gotta be total BS because they would be confusing oil types right and left if all the labels were all wrong and they just had to memorize which hose did what. On top of that, they upsell me that it'll take 6 quarts instead of 5 - Never heard that from ANY oil change place in 30 years. So HIGHLY likely I got conventional oil at synthetic full price. This was a blatant lie as I checked the pressure when I got home and all of my tires need air. I am questioning if they even changed my oil at all. The mechanic Gerry tells her she needs an oil change, brake flush, and transmission flush before he can pass her. A $25 inspection turn into $300 service, but I wasn't going to let her be a victim. Total ripoff. I took my 2012 Nissan Altima in for an oil change on Feb. 09, 2021. They found additional items that they suggested I have taken care of. In total, I paid $1,200 for their unacceptable work. 1. Rear Brake pads needed replacing. I agreed to have this done. Several days after this repair, I found the brakes making a scratching, dragging noise which I heard when I rolled down the windows. I called and they had me bring the car back so they could fix. 30-45 minutes later they fixed the problem no charge. I should not have had to come back. This should have been noticed when they did the work the first time. cost 474.16 plus tax 2. Fuel System needed cleaning. I agreed to have this done. cost $100 plus tax 3. Power Steering Flush. Agreed to have done. cost 109.99 plus tax 4. Air Flow Sensor. My check engine light was on. Kwik Kar said they could fix it by replacing the sensor. I agreed to have this done. cost 372.48 plus tax 5. Other misc. Air filter replaced, hazmat, supplies, disposal fee cost 137.48 plus tax Tax - 55.53 plus he generously gave me $50 managers coupon. The epic snow storm / freeze hit a few days later and my check engine light came back on. I took my car to AutoZone to have them tell me what the light was for. Low and behold, it was the air flow sensor again. I wanted a second opinion and took my car to Nissan Courtesy to have them look it over. I didn't mention the work that I had done at Kwik Kar. They came back and said that they would have to replace the sensor and reprogram it to correct the issue. In addition, they said the Fuel System needed cleaning and that the power steering could use a cleaning as well. I was shocked. I had just paid Kwik Kar, $600+ for the same repairs. I told the Nissan advisor, and he just shook his head, said he knew the manager at the Kwik Kar location and it didn't surprise him. I ended up paying Nissan an additional 750 to fix the air flow sensor plus redo the fuel system clean. When I called Kwik Kar to get my money back, the manager refused. First they told me I needed to flush my engine (which I knew wasn't true), and then they said they couldn't remove the oil plug so I needed to get a brand new oil pan which would be $400!! I am extremely disappointed with the service I was given. I have never wrote a bad review before, but this review is warranted. I went in to get an oil change. As soon as I pull in to my driveway, my car is smoking and looks like my engine is about to blow up. I get out and there is oil spilled all under my hood and all over the ground. I call Kwik Kar and explain the issue. They encourage me to drive my car back to the location 30 minutes away. I explain to them that it will blow up my engine and after consistent arguing, they agree to come see it. They finally come and tow my car back to the location. The next day I have to find a ride to and from work as well as a ride to Kwik Kar 30 minutes away. When I get there, the person at the front desk complains to me about how much of a hassle this has been for him. No apology or refund offered. I call again today to get a refund and I'm told the best they can do is give me 50% off for next time because they fixed the issue. I am not returning. I received not one apology. Now I have to take my car into the dealership to make sure there is no permanent damage to my engine from driving with no oil. I am extremely disappointed by their lack of apology, care, and service. read more

I wasn't too happy when the price I was quoted for brakes was different than the price when I brought it in. Anyway, they did a good job and charged the quoted price. I returned later to have some new bulbs placed in my turn signals. The mechanic said only one turn signal needed to be placed and that he and another worker said all the lights works. I drove home (1 mile away) and checked the turn signals myself. One turn signal was fixed, but then two were not working. I figured something must have be lose. I returned today. I was told that because they fixed the light for free, they needed to charge me for an electrical analysis. They would not even look to see if they had not done something correct. I had already gone to AutoZone, so I knew I did not need an analysis. In short, Kwik Kar refused to even look to see if they were the cause of the new problem. I would have paid for the initial bulb replacement. I have a problem when the mechanics don't even want to check to be sure they did not create the problem. I also have a problem with rudeness. I would have been a long-time customer because I went to Wal-Mart for 8 years. I only came to this place because the Wal-Mart auto shop was closed. My concern is that maybe they purposely did something to my car because I had complained about the brake cost and because I would not pay for a brake flush. Tl;dr: management is pro-wage theft. Never give money to a business that steals from their workers. The actual work was just fine, but here's my story: I was undercharged for an oil change, and I was asked to come in and settle the difference. Now the problem starts here, when on the phone the manager said "well I'm glad you're willing to come in, otherwise we'd have to take it out of their wages" which is straight up wage theft. I came in, they couldn't figure out the system (apparently it was a new computer program for running charges and the guy made an honest mistake) so they just waived the difference. But I still cannot get over the fact that their first thought was to commit wage theft for an honest mistake that even the manager couldn't fix when corporate tried to walk them through the process. If you work for a living, be cool and avoid coming here, the techs can find work at a place that doesn't resort to stealing their money for an honest mistake. I don't know if it was this specific shop, or Kwik Kar's policy in general, but either way, never again. read more

Went to check on my car to get air filled in tires for free. I asked Bob to check things under the hood for me and he remembered me from last visit. Got a new air filter and tires rotated that he said I would need to do when I came in last, all at a great price. I like how they keep track of it in their system with the prices that they quote, so it stays consistent. When I peeked to see how they were doing, caught Bob even filling up my spare tire in the back of my car! He went above and beyond, I hadn't asked him to even check it. Got here at 615. Yes they close at 630, but I called before I got there & was assured that they would be able to service my car. However, the tech did the oil change in less than 10 minutes. I asked if he checked all the fluid levels & responded "sorry I can't do that today because I'm late[to a function]". He should have let me know from the start that it was going to be half a service. He explained that the manager who told me on he phone that a full-service would be done "if he were here." He said the he believes in customer service but really had to get out of there today. I don't think he understands good customer service! This has to be the worst experience in 20 years of car service!! Now I have to take my car somewhere else & hope the wheels do t fall off or screws come loose! ---update--- it's been a week since I spoke to the manager who honestly did not seem too concerned about good customer service. Turned away and refused service with false information. I went in today for a routine oil change; I was told the last location stripped my drain plug and oil pan, they could not service my car. I would need to go back to the Kwik Kar on Beltline and Francis (E Richardson location) to have them fix their screw up and complete the oil change. They also said they have no details on any previous oil changes completed at the Campbell location, which is false. Although my last oil change was not at this location, they have completed an oil change for this car before. I got to the Beltline location before close, they removed the drain plug and showed me it was not stripped. Nothing was wrong with the oil pan. Completed the oil change in 5 minutes while I remained in my car. Apologized for the lack of services I received at the Campbell location and had me on my way. Please go out of your way for good service - it is not found at Kwik Kar on Campbell. I hate to say that about the closest location to my neighborhood, as we love to support businesses around here, but I've learned to go elsewhere. I hope you do too. read more

On 2019-Aug-28, I took my auto in the 687 W.Campbell Kwik Kar location for an oil change. The tech said I needed two filters replace and he showed me the filters. One filter was filthy. The 2nd filter, which is a pastel yellow color, looked fine to me. The tech assured me the yellow filter was dirty and needed replacing. He said Toyota made those filters so that they would look clean when they weren't (yes, I fell for this). He also said my brake pads were nearly worn through and said all the brake pads needed to be replaced quickly. Price $380 for all brake pads. I foolishly said yes to replace both filters including the yellow filter which looked good to me. I said no to the brake pad change. The tech claimed he could do the job in ONE HOUR. I wisely declined on the brake pads. Today, I took my auto to my regular mechanic to look at the brake pads. They said my front brake pads were 40% and my back brake pad was 50%. They said I still had plenty of life left on those brake pads. They also told me the job was at least a 2 hour job. My trust in the Richardson, TX Kwik Kar W.Campbell location is ZERO. I had a repair and while waiting at home i was told I need all these flushes etc, which none were needed because I just had them done.I was told i could get a better deal. Then a noise i wanted resolved turned into one repair after another. As a result of amateur installations many more repairs were created causing over $1000 in extraneous repairs.Of course they never took responsibility for any of it, so if you like going to vegas to see if you can get ahead, flip the dice! read more
