Excellent service. Very helpful in picking out a custom frame that really suited our print. Right on time, and a great framing job.

His craftsmanship is superb and the work is always before the estimated date. Custom farming is always expensive but, overall I consider that the price is right since the quality of his craft is so great. Additionally I had done estimates in Michael's when they have 60% -just for curiosity and to have a comparison- and even with the discount the pricing is better with Kwan.

Due to an ordering mishap for the materials, we ended up picking up the framed art pieces about a month later. The pieces had been sitting all rolled up in a tube for a number of years. The pieces were very well laid out and do not show any wrinkles. We love how the small and medium sized pieces turned out. The largest piece was a bit of a disappointment. It's sad because there was probably a lot of work done on this one. It was packaged for us to take as the place doesn't do delivery. We were sad to see upon coming home that the back paper backing had two holes where the frame met in the middle. The front glass has a scratch where the border near the frame is. I wish I had inspected it more closely at the shop. I think that this place is great if you are flexible on your timeline and have small to mid size pieces to work on. Great service, good value, and honest work. It does seem to be a one person shop. So you'll have to take that into account.

I thought it was so cool that I got to go behind the counter and pick frame options off the wall - they really have everything you could ever need! We found a matte and frame that worked well with my other degree, which I brought for reference. The whole thing was under $300, which was very reasonable for what I ordered! They also gave me a discount for being a first-time customer and they also offer teacher discounts! The framing was estimated to take 6 weeks, which was a little long. However, the wait is worth it, as they custom-order and shape the frame to your needs. My order was finished in a little less than that timeline, which I appreciated. They also gave me hanging advice and tips for where it would look best. I love how it turned out and will definitely be back when I next have something special to commemorate!

Instead of a polite correction or guidance, the owner abruptly stormed out from the back and shouted "WHOA WHOA WHOA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"--startling both of us. My wife apologized immediately and tried to explain we weren't aware there was a specific process, but that didn't stop him from continuing to raise his voice and snatching the poster from her hands. He then gave us an unnecessarily condescending lecture about how "it's really just common sense." Even after my wife apologized again and said she would remember for next time, he kept going. His tone was rude, patronizing, and completely disproportionate to the situation. We decided to leave without buying anything because we simply didn't want to be treated that way. To the owner: if you don't want customers touching merchandise, that's completely understandable--but then clearly post signs asking people not to handle items without assistance. Don't assume people know your process, and definitely don't talk down to them when they make a simple mistake. Your behavior was unprofessional, and it ruined what should have been a simple, pleasant shopping experience. We won't be returning, and we sincerely hope others are treated with more basic courtesy and respect than we were.

I needed a 18th century dress for a themed masquerade event, and searched everywhere for it…read moreincluding online (ebay & amazon) and costume shops in San Francisco and Sacramento. Sadly, I had no luck. The dresses in other costume shops were soo pricey around $150-275 just for rental, and the online ones I found were too shabby for its price or just not appropriate. I accidentally stumbled upon the Enchanted Cellar, when I was watching a play at Wright Hall. I am so glad I found this place because Roxanne is very knowledgable about the time frame of the costumes, and they had a good selection of dresses for every era. I would call ahead to double check the hours, if they have what you are looking for, and the price range for the type of costume you are looking for. I tried on lots of dresses, finally found what I wanted (took me at least one hour). Also I paid around 46 bucks for 2 or 3 weeks rental with student id (Roxanne was very accommodating, since my event was in San Francisco, and I couldn't be in Davis for some time), but I think the price depends on the costume and the duration. She even tailored the dress a little bit to make sure it fits me. A+ service. Additionally, although some of the costumes here are pretty old, they have a high quality because they were actually made here mostly for plays. If you don't want to have overdone or slutty costumes for Halloween or any other event, definitely check this place out! The price might be questionable and out of range especially for students, but a lot better than many places. Recommended!

Sadly, there were only FIVE + a stop at the gallery, and it literally took us less than two hours to do the whole tour. We definitely would have planned our morning differently had we known there were only five gardens. Hoping they offer more gardens next year! Other than that, we had a good experience at Pence Gallery and their garden tour event.
