It is also the perfect place for holiday gear including Halloween, Christmas and Festival season (hello Coachella). I always find something perfect to add to my closet, including Madewell denim shorts and a Kate Spade purse, among other good finds, all priced very reasonably. To get into the Halloween spirit, we went to Boheme Bewitched last night which is located down the street from the store at 300 E Street (a former bank building). The interior was transformed into creative magical niches including a pond, giant mushrooms, a wishing tree, tarot reading etc. Last night was fun with the UC Davis Drag Club providing energetic and lively performances. So great to be able to support this local group. The venue also has family friendly activities in the daytime hours :) Much appreciation to Boheme for creating this wonderful space to celebrate and enjoy the community and Halloween.

New, vintage, handmade, secondhand, costumes, gifts, all of it packed into multiple rooms so you can lose time in there real fast. It is organized in a loose charming way but also you absolutely need both hands free and a plan or you will black out and emerge with five things you did not intend to buy. I also loved that some pieces actually have little stories attached, like the hand dyed linen set I grabbed from the owner which made it feel extra special. Prices are super reasonable, from outside bargain racks to more curated finds, and honestly it is the perfect spot if you ever need an outfit for an event or a last minute themed moment. I would 100 percent drive back just for this place.

Evangeline's Costume Mansion is a historic landmark in Old Sac - in my opinion! I love the costume mansion and the store next to it. We were in Old Sac early last week and needed to stop in to find a hat for my husband's Freddy Krueger costume. Evangeline's Costume Mansion has 3 stories and it is packed from floor to ceiling with costumes and accessories. They have a wall full of masks of almost every character you can think of! They have a jail section, a slasher section, a doctor section, a steampunk section and even a disco section. That is just to name a few! They have so many costumes to choose from and they also offer kids costumes as well as more risque for adults! They offer a ton of different props and accessories as well including special effects make-up! The costumes are bit on the pricy side, but I believe that you get what you pay for! All sales are final at Evangeline's Costume Mansion! So once you buy it, it's yours and they let you know before you swipe your card! Service is friendly enough, but they are usually busy trying to get through the long line of people! Check them out!

Michele -- the Halloween Queen, according to her name tag -- was incredible. Patient, kind, absolutely lovely. She helped me find what worked and was genuinely supportive when I told her the story. She was aghast, but sadly not surprised. Fred at the counter was also absolutely lovely. People complain about parking, about crowds, about how long it takes to look through everything. Sure. Parking in Old Sac is an Olympic sport. Crowds just mean everyone else knows it's great too. And taking forever? That's not a bug. It's a feature. Thank you, Michele and Fred. She is known as the "mother of the local homeless" and uses profits from her store to feed the homeless. When we were in the store a local man came in and she gave him a plate of food and told him to come back tomorrow to get new pants and a shirt. You must support this store, this amazing human being and her cause!!!

There is art and jewelry that is imported from Egypt and the middle east. I found a beautiful charm bracelet, it was unique and I got a lot of complements on it. Make sure you bring some cash though, since it is cash only. I had the pleasure of coming in another time and sat down with Jodette to chit chat for a bit. She was telling me that a big portion of the profits she earns, she uses to feed the homeless people of Sacramento. It was a wonderful conversation and very humbling.
