I have made two purchases from KW Cages. My first experience was decent. The time from order to shipping was longer than I would have liked and though I did not receive one of my items, customer service responded quickly by providing store credit. My second order has been a very frustrating experience. Regarding my store credit, there was no way to apply it to an online purchase. I tried calling several times to reconcile this via ordering over the phone or obtain some type of of coupon that could be used online, but my calls went unanswered over several days and later my calls were answered by an automated message saying their phone system was done. Because customer service had previously been favorable, I made the order online and sent an email asking for the credit to be applied. One week after the order was placed, and ten days after leaving my last voicemail with customer service, I received a call answering that message. The service rep, Dominique, was pleasant, but she could not help us with applying the credit. We had not yet received a confirmation of order or shipping notification, which we asked Dominique to provide. She said that would be provided and also said that the order would be shipping in no less than three business days, probably sooner. Instead, five business days later I received a notification that the items would be shipped the following day. KW Cages has quality products and if you order one month in advance, you might just get want you ordered when you need it. read more

I usually wait till cavy shows to pick up my purchases--such high quality. HOWEVER, I recently ordered a 14" Critter Carousel and spent big bucks to have it shipped. When it arrived, it was NOT the one I've seen at shows nor the one pictured or described on their website. Instead it is an 18-inch plastic Copco tray with a flimsy turntable. Not happy. I ordered cages on March 10, 2021. Here we are on April 20, 2021 and they haven't even shipped yet. When I ordered, it said 14-21 days for cages. I checked again later and it had changed to 22-28 days. Well, now it's been 40 days. I emailed customer service a week ago and have heard nothing back. They have an option of picking up at a show, but I chose to pay shipping because I needed it sooner than the show was. Meanwhile, I could have ordered it on March 28 and had it April 10th at a show in my state. Yet they haven't managed to ship my cages yet? They sure took my money immediately though. This place has everything you need, except the live animals. They offer quality and custom built cages....whatever sort of cage you'd like, for a fraction of what you'd pay at PetSmart or Petco. Supplies: Big savings and selection here too. A sack of bunny litter at any pet store will run you almost $20. K.W. offers a significant discount if you buy 6 sacks or more. You can pay up and they'll store them for you "till you're ready to pickup" (say, one each time you come in).You'll save about $5 a sack...you can save even more if you buy more than ten! This is a significantly better price even than WalMart. K. W. has all sorts of feed, supplies, gear, toys, books, hay and grasses......not to mention cages that will help your little buddy have a life worth living. The only reason I haven't awarded them a 5th star (yet) is their hours of operation. K.W. Cages is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. On Saturdays they're open 9:00 a.m. and close promptly at 12:00 noon. They are closed on Sundays! This place is perfect for rabbit cage shopping. I have 3 in door rabbits and the small cage from petco wasnt cutting it. I had bought the two story condo back in winter of 2007 (it was their christmas present) and was so impressed with the quailty of the cage. My bunnies loved the cage, at first they didnt understand what the ramp was for, but thye figured it out. We went back a few weeks ago to get the wheels for the cage to move them around and that was a great purchase. I think if you have one of their cages, you should buy the wheel set, makes cleaning the cage easy and easy to roll the cage out side for some fresh air. The only thing with the cage is that the latch part that keeps the door from opening and closing broke off, but im pretty sure i can replace that part. Ive never bought any of the bowls there, my bunny tigger needs the heavy ones because she loves to pick stuff up and toss it. I bought them the little toliet and that is wonderful and easy to clean,They sell the grill part thingy buy it's self just incase you need to replace that part sooner. They hay rack was kindof a pain for the bunnies, it took them a while to get a piece of hay out, so I dont use that anymore. The food selection is ok, i dont buy the pellets there, i get them at walmart, but the papaya cubes are a must buy, my bunnies go crazy for them. I havent tried the pinapple pieces yet, but on my next trip up there, i might buy them along with the pee stain remover. If you have bunnies or birds, you should head to santee and go do some shopping. or you can wait till december when they have their sale and do some serious damage in the wallet. read more

I love this place! For the past 5 years, this has been my go-to for all rabbit supplies! I quickly found out that most pet stores in the area get their supply from KW, and the mark up is ridiculous! I can get a bag of Oxbow pellets here for $10, that costs me $17-20 anywhere else! You can't argue with that savings! The hay is always tons better than any other pet store. I love their boxed hay. Cheap, tons of hay, always fresh, and a good variety. They carry Timothy, Oat, Grass and Alfalfa hays that are freshly boxed. They have a wonderful selection of cages and other items for birds, rabbits and rodents alike! Although I feel the cages for rabbits are not great for the typical house rabbit, for travel their cages are the best! Rabbit breeders love the cages though, they are well built. The hours and location are a bit inconvenient, however it is worth it for the savings. I have turned several of my bunny owning friends on to this place over the years. In fact, I see one of them has posted a review here already. :) One annoying thing is that sometimes you have to hunt someone down from the warehouse to check you out at the storefront. But I give them a lot of slack for this, because I save a minimum of $20 every time I go there instead of petsmart or local feed stores. KW Cages is the only place that caters to big rabbits. All the pet stores, and I do mean all of them, don't have anything big enough for larger rabbits. I drove to each one before I adopted hoping to find something to prepare my home for rabbits. Everything the pet stores had, catered to rabbits that were the size of Guinea pigs. People, have you seen the size of most rabbits in the shelters? They're way bigger than Guinea Pigs. Thanks to KW Cages I got the x-pens so the buns could move around freely, without the trouble of wire bottoms, or being scrunched up. Products deserve a 5 star, unfortunately, the complete lack of communication and being given multiple delivery dates - all of which have been way past the 2-3 weeks originally given...I'm now 2 months past my order date - deserves a one star. I have received better and more truthful communication from Wish....and that's saying something! I have emailed about 30 times, messaged through the site at least 10 times, called probably 15 times leaving a couple of messages that have only been responded to once and only getting through to someone once, and sent 3 facebook messages. When I got a response, it was the same thing each time, We're really sorry but we're backed up because of COVID (ok, so is the rest of the country but most companies still at least give honest delivery times when someone orders from them) and weather. Neither of those things should make any company be dishonest about when something will ship or not contact a customer back after so many attempts by the customer to get an answer. Finally, when part of the order actually shipped, they sent on a weekend I was going to be out of town. I emailed the lady right back letting her know I could not have it sent as no one would be here to bring it inside. She assured me it would be delivered that next Monday. Of course it was delivered over the weekend. Once I realized it wasn't all there I panicked thinking someone may have taken one of the boxes...I got a response with a smiley face saying there was no bad man. Condescending much!?! It was such an inappropriate response to a panicked customer who was never told only part of the order was sent. Now two weeks later, I've been given one more delivery date that has come and gone and zero response to any of my inquiries. I just want a tracking number. That's it. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Which is really too bad because the cages are great cages. I guess if you don't have rabbits literally waiting for the cages like I did and have several months to wait and don't care for any kind of update...go ahead and order from KW Cages! Funny thing is the deciding factor to go with them was because the shipping was supposed to be so fast. Here's to hoping I'll someday get the rest of my order! I spoke with Kevin, and they are able to make cages with larger doors, which is my biggest beef with their cages. I am not thrilled by the standard powder coat color, pewter. I would personally prefer solid, smooth color, like black or whatever. But I can live with it to avoid paying $15 extra for a different color besides pewter. read more

We ordered 12 rabbit cages from these guys, and they were up front in telling us it would be several weeks out before they would ship, due to COVID-19 fun. I periodically checked on it and they were always very friendly and open about the status, returning calls promptly when messages were left. We ended up also getting nesting boxes which were sent right away. We had some pieces missing from our big order, but KW fixed it right away at no additional costs and with fast shipping. The reason for 5 stars is because of quality products and caring customer service. I recently purchased a bird loft. The price is competitive and is located close to us in southern California. I would like to see them expand their loft sizes as they do get pricey when you get creative with those designs. However, you can get the simple wire lofts for a cheaper price. To avoid delivery charges or driving to San Diego, you can pick up your cage at various rabbit and bird shows. The areas for this company to improve on is to provide phone numbers to customers picking up cages from events when their store is closed. Otherwise, I would recommend their products to bird owners looking for an outside aviary for their birds. read more

I was not super impressed. Not a huge selection of cages which surprised me. A ton of bird food was expired. Nobody to help you. No prices on anything and if you ask how to find a price, they want you to hunt someone down in the stockroom. The explanation of no pricing is that they are a "wholesaler/ supplier" so it's too much work to put a tag above the items. I feel that if you are selling items, especially if you are open to the public, you should price your items. One employee seemed really annoyed to have to ring up items. I ordered a huge rabbit cage from their house training cage sections. The biggest one they had is about 42'' 30'' 26''. I have to say, after reading all the reviews here and their website really making the product looking great, I wasn't too impressed. The cage is exactly what I wanted for size but the quality of the metal, gauge, and etc is below my expectations. The bottom of the cage were the rabbit is suppose to be sags alot and hes not really a fat rabbit. The cage door and in general seems flimsy and to top it off was very very hard to put together. The instructions didn't help at all. It was one page of a bad picture and terrible description. Overall I just feel that the cage I got isn't that great of quality and for the price ($180 with shipping but $58 for shipping) I could have gotten better. However I stil am giving them 3 stars because I do love how big the cage is and havent been able to find another company who makes really big cages. Thanks read more

The travel cages are well constructed as well and my rabbits traveled happily in them, even on the airplanes. The designers for KW cages were very thoughtful in their designs of everything - even their bottles are designed to be latched on securely for travel. I honestly wish I could give them more stars because the quality of the custom aviary I purchased, now that its finished, is really great. A solid, aesthetically pleasing, zoo quality aviary that will stand up to weathering and, most importantly, keep my pets safe. The aviary itself has surpassed all of my expectations. However, the process of getting the finished product of the correctly sized aviary I ordered has been a HUGE headache. Communication within this company really needs some work. Throughout the process of ordering and receiving a custom aviary, we ran into multiple issues, including the wrong size aviary being made and delivered initially, which added over another month to the whole process, and when it was finally done and delivered, the employees realized they forgot the roof panels while they were putting it together. I live 2 hours away from the store so it's a little shocking to me that they hadn't double checked to make sure they had all the necessary pieces before leaving for such a long delivery, but this additional mistake added yet another day to the process. Like I said, the finished product is awesome...but if you are planning on ordering a custom cage, just make sure you are ready to put in a LOT of time and effort to constantly oversee each step of the process and micromanage it from start to finish to make sure you are getting what you ordered & what you're paying for. read more

Shipping is ridiculous so if you can't pick it up at either a rabbit show or at the factory, it would be cheaper elsewhere. Whenever I go to rabbit shows to pick up supplies he will wait on everyone at the kw table before me. I'm clearly standing at the table waiting for him to make eye contact An ask me what I need, but he wont until he's spoken to EVERYONE at the table first An rang them up. One time he walked away from the table when it clearly had to be my turn (because everyone else had paid for their stuff An left) Literally acted like I was invisible An stepped away instead of waiting on me, the loyal CUSTOMER! I even heard his mom whisper to him "why is she standing there". Ummm for my order that I prepaid for, what else! I don't know what his issue is with me. I hardly know the guy. Worst experience I ever had with an online purchase. On Dec. 18 I ordered several nest boxes. Guess why? I needed them for kindling on Dec.31. Never heard a word from them until Dec.27 by email. They said they were out for shipment that day. Next day email said they didn't ship. They had to make them and they were on the shipping dock. Make them? Said they were in Stock. Shipping charges are ridiculous. I told them I would keep the order in if they would ship overnight. For what they charge for shipping they surely could have. They declined. I canceled. I will never consider doing business with them again. Customer Service is terrible. Don't expect the customer service line to be answered. It won't be.
