The margarita. It was super Smokey. Tasted like an old fashion

Very pretty decor , not a fan of the table right at the entrance. Hope I'm never seated there lol. But on a late Friday was a fun night. It's fully open so was a tad bit warm inside since you know Az heat. Gabe was cool but he was disappearing way too often. He also told us the menu was shareable. Was not shareable. The skirt steak is two pieces on a skewer lmao. The fried rice was large tho but for $74 I know you playing in my face putting snow crab on the top. That is not no kind crab. Also dj is super loud while playing hip hop. Felt like I was yelling the entire time. Hated that the most. Parking was easy and the bathroom is cute. Not in love but would go back.

My party of 2 ate at Kuza on their first day open to the public for reservations and left feeling quite disappointed. Ambiance - The restaurant was clean, and the decor created an atmosphere that seemed ideal for a hangout with friends or a date night. Unfortunately, the music was blasting so loudly that I had difficulty hearing the person sitting across from me. Food - We ordered the Matriarch, a set menu of pre-selected dishes. The first course, the "premium moriawase," included salmon sashimi, akami sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, 2 raw oysters with vinaigrette, one mackerel nigiri, one akami nigiri, one yellowtail nigiri, one flounder nigiri, and one tartare. The quality of the fish was very good, and the knife work and sushi rice were also very well done. Unfortunately, the tartare tasted unremarkable and was very fatty and lacking in flavor. The next dish was a small bowl of garlic pasta with a mild, watery sauce that we did not particularly enjoy. Lastly, we had a small plate of robata consisting of shrimp, skirt steak, tsukune, and asparagus, all grilled and served on skewers. Service - Our waitress was friendly, answered our questions, and stayed on top of refilling our water, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, she did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu. She misled us about the quantity of food we would be receiving, describing the portions as "massive," which led us to believe that although the $96-per-person price for the Matriarch was on the expensive side, it would at least be filling. We ordered 2 Matriarch sets. Once the food stopped coming, we asked whether that was everything because we were still very hungry. She went to check with the kitchen and returned to tell us that she had mistakenly entered only one order. She asked whether we wanted to order anything else and offered us a complimentary dessert. At that point, we just wanted to go home. We did not feel like ordering additional food at those prices and then waiting even longer on top of what had already been a long meal. We accepted the complimentary dessert and asked for the check. I also realized after getting home that we had mistakenly been served the garlic noodles instead of the crab noodles that were supposed to come with the Matriarch set. Value - Value was where we were most disappointed with Kuza. Although we ultimately learned that the dishes we received represented only one Matriarch set rather than the two we had ordered, seeing the entirety of one $96 set still left us questioning the pricing. The "premium moriawase" consisted primarily of salmon, akami tuna, yellowtail, and flounder--good-quality fish, but very common selections. We were confused about what distinguished this as the "premium" moriawase from the regular moriawase included in the $45 set. The noodle course was a very small bowl, and the robata course consisted of small portions of shrimp, skirt steak, tsukune, and asparagus. While several items were prepared very well, we did not feel that the quantity or selection justified the $96 price point. We understand that this was the restaurant's first day open for general public reservations, but we are also aware that Kuza had already been operating in some capacity for invited guests beforehand. That does not change the fact that this was a very disappointing experience for us, and based on this visit, we would not recommend Kuza to our family and friends.

I honestly don't understand all the 5-star Yelp reviews for this restaurant. After reading so many…read moreglowing reviews, we went in with high expectations and were thoroughly disappointed. The first red flag was walking into the restaurant on a Friday night and seeing only two other tables occupied and a couple sitting at the bar. The restaurant felt strangely quiet and lacked any real energy or atmosphere. That should have been our cue to turn around. We came for the first night of Restaurant Week, with a 6:30 PM reservation, and were already told that one of the prix fixe menu items, the salt fish fritters was unavailable. On the very first night. I ended up ordering the watermelon skewers instead, which were sad-looking and underwhelming. My sea bass was decent, but the pilaf was way too salty. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops, which he described as anemic, served on a bed of mushy, tasteless rice with overly salty broccolini. For dessert, we ordered the regular-menu Burnt Basque cheesecake, and it was quite possibly the most tasteless cheesecake I've ever had. It didn't even taste like cheesecake, it was more like an egg custard. Ironically, the special bread pudding they whipped up for Restaurant Week was much tastier than the Burnt Basque cheesecake, although the outer edges of the bread pudding were burnt and hard. And then there was the service. Terrible. This was a three-course dinner that took two full hours to complete. The server never once came over to ask how the dishes tasted, and we had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. By the end, we couldn't wait to get out of there. Overall, the food was subpar, the service was painfully slow, and the entire experience was frustrating from beginning to end. Whatever everyone else is raving about, we certainly didn't experience it. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

So I got a Beyond Burger (which is normally $13 alone), fries and a beer. Delicious and a great deal! Only Thursday's at the bar. The Beyond burger was cooked perfectly, served with pickled onion, fresh tomato, lettuce, vegan cheese, and vegan sriracha aioli. Yummy. The fries were fresh and crispy. We also ordered the cauliflower nachos. They were good but had very little sauce on them. We asked for more sauce and the server happily returned with a side of sauce. Excellent service at the register when ordering and excellent service throughout the meal. They have other specials on other nights as well as happy hour deals. This is hands down the best restaurant all around in the area. I did not feel like I was dining in a supermarket. That ambiance was great. I will be back, basically every Thursday for the rest of my life! And then some!

He also tried the Sicilian, but that one wasn't really his cup of tea since it had a strong lemony flavor. I had a couple of drinks myself, and the top-shelf margarita was definitely my favorite. The seating was a little awkward since our table was right underneath the TV and very close to the table next to us. The ambiance was okay, though, and we were still able to have a conversation comfortably without the noise being an issue. Overall, we had a great experience. Great service, delicious food, and some really good drinks!
