They had a BOGO promo going so I was able to get 2 Passionfruit Green Teas and I added 50% sweetness with no ice, so that it wouldn't be watered down when I drank it the next day. The drink I was going to down the same night would be a Winter Melon Green Tea with double Aloe Jelly and 50% sweetness. This was so good and I was happy. I came back. It's been like what 5 years? And I feel bad saying this, but it still doesn't taste good. They have a couple of snacks that they sell at the front of the store that you can buy, that you can get at the local Asian stores in the area, and they have a small rightful upcharge. Unlike other kungfu teas, they don't have hot snacks that they make fresh for you. I was looking forward to ordering some Asian style popcorn chicken or bubble waffles. It was unfortunate. But they are home run, so I can't blame them for not wanting to take that route. It is a cost. The store is a bit of a mess and it's not very clean. Which makes it a difficult 3rd place to just hangout in comparison to other boba tea places in the area. The service is fast though. As soon as you order you get your tea, which is nice if you're trying to order and get a takeout. I just don't like the taste. There is no depth and it's still too sweet. Even ordering it at the lowest sweetness, it was too much for me. If I could give it more stars I would because it is family run, but the reason I didn't come back for 5 years, is only because my friend wanted to try it before she left the state. Kung Fu Tea is a delightful place to visit! I have to say that creativity with tea has come a long way! I'm pretty much a coffee/latte guy but Kung Fu Tea gave me some new perspective on how good an enhanced matcha slush can be over just having green tea in cup with a tea bag. I've been here twice and like the shop as one I definitely will visit again. The interior is bright, well organized - tables and chairs are metal but there are a couple of sofas near the entrance. It lent for good conversation on my two visits with friends with the noise level being rather low and tolerable. I had the matcha red bean slush. I really liked this one! They were out of red beans but I had the egg pudding as a replacement, and it was an awesome! I will say that here drinks are sweet and can be sugary here. But the good news is that you can request the amount of sweet you desire in your beverage. I got mine with 50 percent sugar and that worked perfectly. I've also had the mango green tea and liked that too. But I think I'd stick with the matcha slush next time. I also will say the service here was impressive on my visits. The courtesy of the staff was solid overall and they took the time to answer the questions with pretty good enthusiasm. Kung Fu Tea is a place I'd look forward to visiting again. Brought my girls for some boba upon request. They they love it, or the novelty of it. Ooblong Tea (no boba) for me- good flavor Strawberry Lemonade with boba for one- so sweet. For me a 3, but for her a solid 4, she loved it. Oreo wow for the other- a 3 for me- cookie crumbles and sweet, but for her a 4. My daughter and I went here for a boba treat and we know have several we want to try in the future! I tried the lychee punch and loved every sip, I added mango popping boba and aloe jelly to mine and they give you plenty, next time I will stick with one. My daughter got a passion fruit tea and I laughed that ours looked similar but had completely different tastes. Hers was sweeter (I preferred mine & she preferred hers). It was busy on a Saturday afternoon and it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks and the customers just kept coming in. Great to see a small business so busy! Matcha milk tea is actually pretty good, not too sweet, the taste of matcha is authentic and delicious. I was recommended the Oreo milk tea by the barista since they were out of cocoa cream with milk cap, which was the one I've been dying to try. I LOVE BUBBLE TEA. I lived in Asia for two years and I had bubble tea every chance I had. With that said I have high standards for a good tea and boba and Kung Fu Tea passes. I came in here a few days ago with my wife and the service was great. They made my tea with boba in no time. The prices for the different drinks are also right on point. Not so cheap that it makes me think that they are using crappy quality and not too high. There is free wifi here which is nice. To be honest, I've never ordered a drink of my own, but I've always sampled my girls' drinks. Some drinks I enjoy more than others. My little one usually orders the Strawberry Milk slush with nata jelly (same as lychee jelly...it's yummy!). My oldest usually gets a Milk tea, she usually changes up the flavors, but I prefer the slush more since it's sweeter. There are so many different options as far as flavors and topping options, it can be a little overwhelming. Perhaps that's why I don't order my own drinks. I love the decor, it's so bright and colorful. I've never seen it really pack since I think most people order their drinks to go, but if you wanted to chill and play some board games while enjoying your drink, there are a few seating options. The service has been ok the couple times I've been there, but the last time was better than previous times. The guy was nice and gave my daughter suggestions. I'm glad they are finally set up to use the Kungfu app. You get a $4 credit upon download of app, which is pretty much a free drink. For every referral, you'll get a $2 credit. The credit does have an expiration date so be sure to use it before it expires. I think you may have to set up a credit card for payment but I'm not 100% sure. read more

Okay, we walked in and were the only non-Asian party in the tea house. While we liked the popping boba, you can also get other options including Pudding which had my interest peaked. It seems the pudding is like "flan" and is best in milk teas! We also opted for some matcha cookies that peaked our interest, but we have yet to open those. (Okay we did open them and they were....."different", definitely something we are not used to be really cool to try.) Just a really cool spot for a treat. Taro slush is like an ice-cold, creamy fruit smoothie and so sooo good! Refreshing yet thick and dessert-like. We tried it with nata jelly on our second visit and we rather have it plain although nata jelly is yummy and would probably pair well with a different drink. Thai milk tea was nice and simple, and their avocado milk tea with milk cap foam and nata jelly was good, too, but again the nata jelly would probably work better in another drink--haven't figured out which one yet. If you haven't tried it yet, a milk cap is a foam layer--a thicker consistency--that floats on top of the drink. It's a lightly salted, sweet cream-cheesy foam that adds an interesting texture and flavor to milk tea. It's like a special whipped cream just for milk tea and fruit tea drinks! If this store would open when they say they open, I'd give a full five stars. Kung Fu Tea has numerous locations, and the ones I've visited have all been great, but I've tried two different days to visit this store when it opens at noon, and even at 12:10-12:15 after they've turned on (or left on) the open sign, I've had no luck with the front door being unlocked. As much as I'd love to sit around in my car waiting for them to show up, I don't have lots of time ok to waste throughout the week, so I'll be looking for another boba shop. This is my 2nd trip to Kung Fu Tea and I decided to try a slushee after sampling the milk tea during my last visit. The mango slushee was delightful - the blending was good for optimal sipping. I also liked that the perfect amount of mango purée was added -- other places go overboard with the purée and the mango flavor is overwhelming. Not the case here. Although I love boba, I opted to enjoy the mango slushee without any floaters - I think slushees are best this way! There are a lot of choices ranging from milk teas, green teas to slushees - the plastic laminate menu is well laid out and helpful in deciding. I found that the staff are pretty helpful as well. I haven't downloaded the Kung Fu Tea phone app yet but I like that once you do this - first timers get a free drink and thereafter, every 12th drink is also free. Decided to try this place again a year later... there's still that smell on the air but not as assaulting as I recalled the last time. Upgraded the stars as my wee one really liked her strawberry slush with boba today and the lady at the counter was super nice and helpful on suggesting options off the kids menu. ---------- Walked in and immediately was met with a slightly citrus chemical smell in the air that didn't go away the entire time we were there. It was like opening a can of Tang and having that strong smell linger around annoyingly. If you can get past the smell you'll see the cute decor of the place.... I now want cute piggy wall stickers for my electric outlets at home. On to the menu-- there are a lot of options to pick from.... as well as various add in items like boba/bubbles and jelly. I opted for the winter melon tea with a milk cap. Thankfully I was warned that the "milk cap" had a slight saltiness to it otherwise I probably would have taken my first swig and thought something in the cup went a bit wonky. I am all for the balance between salt and sweet-- like chips dipped in chocolate--- but this was a different type of balance. This is probably the only decent spot to get bubble tea (or boba tea) in Jacksonville. Coming from Vancouver, I was absolutely spoiled with the endless options for bubble tea but it's a different story here. My baseline drink to try at all restaurants is the classic milk tea with pearls. If a spot can master this basic drink, the rest of the drinks will follow suit. The milk tea here is good and you're able to customize it to your liking in terms of ice and sugar. I've found that 50% sugar is best for me since I don't like super sweet drinks. Next is the pearls, which need to be homogeneously sweetened in brown sugar, soft but chewy, and not hard. I've been here many times are the consistency of the pearls are spotty; sometimes good, sometimes not. Overall, it's the spot that I go to when I'm craving bubble tea in Jacksonville but it does fall anywhere near my top 3 spots. read more
