What a treat to find this cafe! Having eaten my way through Hong Kong on a handful of trips, I was excited to see this place and its menu. I tried a few things on my first trip: - Tofu fa (spelling this phonetically, but it's basically a soy milk pudding served with a ginger syrup) - this was tasty, though the texture was a touch grainy vs the silky texture I'm used to - Egg tart - this seemed sorta savory, which surprised me. The pastry was very flaky, so if you don't like things very sweet , it could be a great option for you. - Pandan oolong tea - love the Pandan flavor in this - it's not easy to find in our area, so a real treat (if you've never had Pandan, it's sometimes described as the vanilla of Southeast Asia...its lovely, give it a try) There are many more things in the menu I'd love to try (the menu is honestly a marvel - super extensive), so I'll definitely be back. Ordering takes place at the kiosk, which is fine, but it's hard to comment on service. Interior is cute, but not a lot of seating. read more

My husband and I heard about Gaa Cafe from his sister and a few friends. We stopped in about 30 mins before closing and we did not intend to stay long but the owner was warm, inviting, and did not rush us. She even stopped to talk to us for a bit about how we heard about the cafe. We ordered the iced salted caramel latte and the iced matcha tiramisu latte. She also brought us toasted pineapple bun with butter and chocolate croissant! Everything was delicious and highly recommend. My personal favorites were the iced matcha tiramisu latte and pineapple bun. The decor is very fun, colorful, and welcoming- I especially love the giant egg tart hanging on the wall. Another new coffee spot. The place was nice and very colorful with a few tables already taken by people with their laptops working/collabing. We sat near the front door and scanned the menu to order. He said he wasn't a big fan of the seats as they were hard and kinda low, for him. I thought they were fine. I ordered our drinks, a Rose Strawberry Latte with Oatmilk and a Vanilla Biscoff Cream Latte which I messed up the order for. I meant to have it hot but I accidently put iced and didn't know about it until it came out. He still drank it even though the ingredients didn't "melt" like they should've. My Rose Latte was ok. I also got the Noodles with Egg & Beef Bacon to eat which I ended up taking half home because I had gotten full faster from my meds and the coffee. At first I was a little disappointed in the noodles because they looked like the instant package noodles but in eating them they tasted slightly different. The owner came by our table just to check in to make sure everything's ok. He asked about the noodles and we learned that in Hong Kong cafes they serve instant noodles like these, I believe she said "cha chaan teng"-style and in looking it up it makes sense. Super cute cafe with a lot of interesting drink flavors! I tried the ube latte, which had a really good ube flavor. But it was super grainy so I wasn't the biggest fan. But would definitely go back to try some other flavors, and their pastries and desserts. read more

Hidden gem that you must visit! This is a Hong Kong inspired cafe that has drinks and food. The food is made fresh. You can order on a kiosk, online, at the counter. Ever since I visited Taiwan for 2wks I've craved the pineapple buns with butter so once I saw they have these I knew I had to go! I also got the tiramisu latte and the Hong Kong latte milk tea. What a beautiful Cafe! It's so nice and pretty inside, makes you want to stay awhile! We went for their new year celebration and dragon dancers, so cool! We loved it and wish for much success in the coming year! They were very busy of course but we got a few things, loved the drink, a coffee latte so good! Such a cute Hong Kong coffee/tea shop!! They offer a huge variety of coffee/tea options, but not as much food. For breakfast, it was mainly sweet items. I got the hot latte in a cone cup that was small but interesting. Decent coffee. The chicken floss egg tart was a LOT SMALLER than in the picture. It's only 5cm in diameter... interesting flavors but probably won't order it again. I ordered the iced cotton candy vanilla latte. It is so delicious! I was leaving RADIFI Credit Union and the cafe caught my eye. I have been wanting to visit here for a while. Iam not sure of the hours, but I parked and took a chance. Yes! They were open. There is definitely one good thing about retirement-you have more time to go places. Cute new cafe in the area. We got there a little close to closing time so I think we missed out on some deserts but we were able to get an egg tart and a pineapple bun. I would recommend the pineapple bun, it was so delicious and the bun had a perfect sweetness and fluffiness. The strawberry matcha was delicious it had a perfect amount of strawberry and matcha. The ube espresso was ok, I think it was a bit earthy for me. It's in a plaza so there's plenty of parking. I've been wanting to try Gaa Cafe for awhile. Today was the day! As I walked up to the restaurant I noticed a huge pink coffee mug outside with flowers inside of it! It was the cutest outside decor piece I've seen in a while. I liked the ambiance of the little cafe. It's super cozy and cutely decorated. They have two kiosks for you to order from. I love the kiosks because you can view all of the details and pictures of the offerings. I had issues with my Apple Pay so I went to the register and the young lady cheerfully took my order. I placed my order and waited about 10 minutes for my foo. They make pretty much everything as soon as you order it. Excellent sign that you're going to enjoy the food! I ordered: a matcha latte with Carmel syrup and whole milk. I was hoping for a more earthy taste amd creamy taste. I didn't taste the Carmel syrup at all. I will try the coffee and tea on future visits. Shrimp & Rice Vermicelli $5.99 Super duper fantastic! I will order two next time. Absolutely fantastic! It was certainly fresh and it tasted authentically made. House made egg tart with house made whipped cream marshmallow on top. $5.99 So incredibly cute and definitely delicious. I am going to give it a 5.5/10 for overall flavors and my own tastes... however I have no idea what a Hong Kong coffee shop is supposed to taste , therefore is this is your vibe you should still check them out! I got the biscoff latte half sweet and it didn't taste like much of anything - I would like to try it normal as maybe they don't use a lot of sugar so I wouldn't have gotten half sweet! Kelly, the owner, was so nice. You order at a kiosk, so take your time looking cause there is plenty to pick from. We tried a little bit of everything. I got the black sesame banana latte, which I loved! My sister got the chocolate banana iced drink. Also good. For food, we got the potato salad toast, the mini pancake set, and the scallion cucumber donut. My top choices were the scallion and the black sesame latte. The dish was sooo good. I would've picked a spicier option, it was that good. The mini pancakes are such a good treat as well. Paired nicely with the drink. The cafe itself is very cute and comfortable. Beautiful and cute cafe located in Baymeadows. This cafe is serving a variety of unique flavored coffees such as Creamy Black Sesame Banana Latte, Ube Latte, Rose Strawberry Latte, Iced Cotton Candy Vanilla Latte, and so much more! Not to mention their pastries and small plates that I have not seen in any other coffee shops. My favorites are the egg tart, pineapple bun, donut with cream filling (not sweet! I loved it!) and cream cheese pastry! They also offer delicious small plates such as beef, lamb, and duck bao buns, century eggs, spicy Sichuan cucumber donuts, tofu suki, and many more dishes I can't wait to try the next time I visit. I wanted to go try this place since it recently opened and from the photos, it looked really good! So when I got here I was very excited. The place is small and you place your order on the kiosk. I ordered the hot matcha latte, pineapple bun, and strawberry Nutella pistachio toast. The matcha was a disappointment for me. Honestly, I didn't really taste much of anything. It tasted more watered down and not much of a matcha taste. The pineapple bun had taro in it, and it was delicious. As foe the toast, they forgot about it, because I waited for it, but it never came. When I went up to check on the status of it, the toast wasn't even made it, and was told they would make it right away. So I told them to not worry about it because I needed to go, and got a refund for it. Overall, it was ok. It didn't really wow me like I thought it would. On the recommendation of a fellow foodie, I made a quick trip out to Gaa Café on Baymeadows (near the intersection of Southside) and was absolutely blown away by the warm hospitality, cozy atmosphere and incredible cuisine! Owner Kelly Lei and her staff Pookie and Lily showcased the depth of their menu, offering detailed descriptions of each delectable and unique dish, many of which are rarities to our area. Having seen an episode of "Smiling Friends" where the characters raved about a "Century Egg," (IYKYK), I knew I needed to try one! For the adventurous, it was absolutely delicious - earthy, mildly salty, soy, and balanced with a light, custardy tofu. Amazing! If a century egg isn't your thing, the menu is so deep with sweet and savory items, there's something for absolutely everyone! Their steamed bau buns were the best I've had south of NYC! The lamb was sliced so thin, it melted away on my palate- the duck was beautifully shredded to avoid an abundance of oil. They thought of everything! A traditional Hong Kong French Toast followed, which had a sliver of peanut butter (optional, they ask upfront about allergies), and a drizzle of condensed milk with generous pat of butter - true indulgence without being heavy - it was airy! Coffee tasted great, but I don't think the pastries were worth the price. On the ordering tablet, the picture showed three waffles for around $5 and some change. However, when my order came out, there was only one small waffle. All of the pastries were very small and priced similarly to other coffee shops like Starbucks. The difference is that Starbuck sandwiches and pastries are usually a reasonable size that matches the price. Overall, I was very disappointed with the portion sizes of the pastries. read more

I had seen this cafe recommended on the Popup Bagels passport card and the new spots in Jacksonville list posted by Yelp. I was in the area running an errand on a rainy day, so I decided to stop by. When I walked in, I was impressed by the beauty of the place, with pink, delicate decorations, gold, and marble. I was warmly greeted when I walked in, even though I was the only one in there for a few minutes. I was going to order at the counter, but I was directed to the kiosks by the wall for ordering. They have an extensive menu of drinks and food, along with options for speed dating and additional deals. I chose the drink of the day, an iced salted caramel honey latte and the Hong Kong egg tart. For both, it was around $12. I was able to pay with my Google Wallet and sit down at a table. The barista brought me my drink and food and said if I needed additional sugar to let her know. The egg tart was small but it was beautifully prepared. It had a crispy crust to it and the egg wasn't too much but was light and fluffy. The coffee was strong but it had the right amount of flavoring and milk in it. I was able to sit and enjoy the tart with part of my coffee at the cafe before needing to leave. I'm not a big coffee drinker but i tried the strawberry rose latte (made with fresh strawberries, wish i took a pic) and ube latte and both were delicious and the perfect level of sweetness! We also tried the egg custart tart, coconut pastry, and strawberry nutella toast (the toast was huge and can definitly be shared with 2-3 people) which were all yummy! I ordered online for pickup a strawberry matcha latte and a coconut hot latte and they were both terrible the matcha latte had a lot of the powder sitting at the bottom the matcha itself was a very light colored green which means it's usually not good matcha quality and strawberry jam sticking to the sides after mixing enough it tasted like a sweet but earthy medicine (there's a lot I can tolerate even if it's bad but this was terrible) idk I've never tasted a matcha that tasted like this while drinking it I also got a lot of chunks of powders mixed with jam and the coconut latte had no sugar even though I put 50% sweetness and had no coconut flavor this was the worst matcha latte & coconut latte I've ever had and a waste of $20 read more

I was told about Gaa CAfe by a friend about a week ago.I went with a curious pallet and empty belly and I'm so glad I did!! The sesame banana latte was top notch. Was also pleased with the ube latte and vanilla biscoff latte. I sampled my daughter's cotton candy cloud iced tea and iced matcha tea. I'm not much of a tea person but I just might be now.. lol. If that wasn't enough the food was even better!! The egg tarts and pineapple ube bun will definitely have me coming back. As well as the cream cheese and whipped bun and potato salad toast. Gaa Café just opened yesterday, and I'm really glad I stopped in. The place already has such a warm, inviting vibe, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the whole concept. The Hong Kong street-food vibe really sets them apart from any other cafe I have tried in Jacksonville. It's such a fun and unique mix, and everything tastes fresh and authentic.
