5.24.25 This location is in the Fox Chapel Shopping Center tucked away around the corner from the Great Wall Supermarket, closer to the main entrance. I came from the backside of the shopping center, so did not see it and had to ask staff at the supermarket if they knew where the tea shop was. I've been to the other locations many times, so I got my usual taro milk tea with Boba. It was just as good as the other locations. Next time I should be adventurous and try some other flavors. I'm so happy to see that this is in the shopping center right next to my parent's house so I can frequent it more often. Yay! As such, I will likely join their rewards program. read more

The drink is made with matcha, the new taro milk cap, and crushed Oreos. It's delicious. If you like any of those 3 things, get it. First trip won't be the last! Boyfriend was craving some bubble tea and since we were going to be in Germantown I did a Yelp search and Kung Fu Tea came up. I browsed the menu, downloaded the app and we ordered ahead. Store was clean, employees were working their way through a pretty good sized group of kids and walk-ins. Our drinks weren't ready at the time the app estimated, but it was a delay of maybe five minutes. He got the large Oreo Wow Tea, I got a large Pina Colada slushie. Having never had bubble tea before I got to try his and so glad I did! It was amazing and will definitely get in the future! That said, my Pina Colada slushie was also just amazing. New management at this location as of April. Before it closed back in October, I used to think this was one of the more unreliable KFT locations. However, after reopening under new management, there have been lots of improvements. I've noticed friendlier service and more consistent beverage quality. My order is always prepared quickly and accurately. With how hot and humid it has been this summer, I appreciate that the interior is always cool and clean. No complaints here so far. I'd recommend the mango green tea, lychee punch, or honey green milk tea. read more

Im almost at 200 Check ins on this place and they are still pretty solid in terms of speed and quality. I do like their COVID precations and set up. They allow you to go in and order and pay, but wants you to wait outside until your order is complete. This is reasonable and they have the arcylic guard up as well as sanitzer and mask use. They have a table along the window with signs up as to different ordering avenues such as GrubHub, UberEats, etc. and their own app. I recommend just using their normal app as you get points through the app. They have been pretty good with getting the orders out on time. It is normally 5-10 minutes so we would order it in the car and by the time we go there and park, we just walk in, grab it, and go. If you do go in and order and wait outside, those 5-10 minutes feels like forever with everyone eyeing each order coming out. Just dont be part of that rat race and just order ahead through the app. It is just efficient for everyone. Of the times that I have ordered the traditional way, everytime someone comes up and asks whether we are in line. It's nice that they ask, but it does create confusion for people when a bunch of people are just huddling outside the door. Compared to the other branches nearby - which there are plenty. I enjoy this one and the one at Rio the most. They seem to be the most consistent in terms of quality. I have always been irked by the parking for the Rockville Town Center location and Tysons.... if I ever go to Tysons anymore. Look, I knew going in that the crew here was not nearly as good as the Silver Spring location (of all the ones I've been to, that one is my favorite!) The service is slower here, the staff are not as friendly (they're not rude, they're just not personable)... It's just not the same. But what IS this same are the drinks and THAT was what was important. So I packed my patience going in, knowing that this was not going to be as good, or as smooth, as an experience at the Silver Spring location...But even I was not ready for the epic failure of this last visit. I ordered a ginger milk boba and the chai milk tea, hot. Simple order. There's no reason that it took over 20 minutes to complete My ginger milk came out pretty quickly, but it took at least 20 minutes to complete. The manager notice that I had been standing there for a while, and went behind the counter to figure out what was going on. He then explained to me that whatever machine they used to produce hot drinks hadn't been turned on, so ee had to wait for it to heat up. No problem. I wasn't in a rush and it seemed like the crew was fairly new and having a little bit of a tough time so I just continue to wait patiently. The manager was really polite, the crew was trying their best and it was what it was. I finally get my hot drink, get to my car, take a sip and find that my hot drink is 'cool' at best. I don't know what they did back there, or why they had me waiting for 20 minutes for a cool drink, but I returned to the store, sent it back and asked the young man behind the counter to just make me another ginger milk instead. I guess I should have specified that he should properly seal the drink as well because after I left the store, it spilled everywhere. The whole damn drink. All over... Everything. Unfortunately, by this time I was too far away from the store to take the drink back and ask for a refund. I mean I like the smell of ginger milk, but not that much! In all seriousness, this crew needs some help. Hopefully they'll get better with practice. I come to this location a decent amount due to it being the only bubble tea place near my work. My experience with this location have been mostly misses though. The teas tasted water down from fruit teas to the milk teas that I have tried. It might just be this store because I've been to the KFT in Rockville and had no problems with it. My orders have came out wrong too, but by the time I noticed, I was already gone. I would double check your order when you are at the store before leaving. I usually enjoy getting the yogurt drinks at Teado, so seeing that KFT had yogurt drinks, of course I had to try it. I've tried the yogurt green tea and the strawberry yogurt lemonade. The yogurt green tea was not really flavorful, but the strawberry lemonade was flavorful so I would recommend trying it. My review is based off the two times I've been here. The first time, my experience was definitely 4 if not 5 star worthy! I came in around 9:30pm right before they were about to close. I didn't realize how close Kung Fu Tea was to my house and was so excited once I found it. I stopped in and I already knew what I wanted. My regular, passion fruit slush with bubbles (boba). I ordered a large because I was feeling thirsty. I asked for a little extra boba, JUST A LITTLE not a lot. Sometimes they are nice and will say sure and some sure and sometimes they say we will have to charge you for extra and in that case I say never mind. The woman behind the counter THIS time said sure! Not too many people were in the restaurant so I got my slush lickity-split and I was out. It was just to my liking and I was pleased. My second visit, not so pleasant. I came on a Friday night around 7:30 and man were they busy. I guess this was my fault. Again, I knew what I wanted. I repeated, JUST A LITTLE EXTRA BOBA NOT A LOT. This time I was told sorry we will need to charge you for that so I said never mind. While I was waiting for my drink I really needed to use the restroom so I inquired about where it was. Upon opening the door, I was utterly grossed out. The whole toilet was clogged to the very top and I wanted to run out screaming. Instead I informed one of the ladies behind the counter. I patiently waited about 10 more anxious minutes for my drink and used a nearby restaurants restroom. Granted, I know it's not their fault but yikes. Overall, I love Kung Fu Tea. It's tucked away behind the Bonchon so really very good placement because who doesn't want bubble tea after hitting up some korean fried chicken? I ordered the winter melon tea milk cap at 30% sweetness with nata jelly. The nata jelly itself was very nice, but the drink was wayyyyyy too sweet for 30% sweetness. I ended up having to throw out most of the drink because it felt like I was drinking pure sugar. My friend informed me after I got my drink that they've been told before that the winter melon drinks can't have their sweetness adjusted, but the cashier failed to mention this to me. So either this was the case, or their sweetness scale was way off, or they messed up my drink. The employees at the store also closed early at 8 today even though they're usually open until 9. They ended up turning away several confused customers because there was no indication of this early-close outside of the store. I've gone to Kung fu tea before and found some of their drinks to my liking, which is why I probably would still come to this chain again, but I'd stay away from the winter melon drinks and this kung fu tea location, unless I'm feeling more experimental. read more

The location is easy to get to but the parking is scarce during busier times! I find that this location is always clean and the employees are always friendly and helpful. I'm confused because I feel like when this Kung Fu Tea first opened I didn't notice any issues at all, but about 6 months ago, every time I come here and order drinks, it all tastes watered down. I've ordered different drinks as well, such as the Thai milk tea, the winter melon milk green tea, and the lychee punch and every time it does not taste worthy of being a $4 beverage. I feel like I'm wasting my money when I go here because the boba drinks just aren't as concentrated as it used to be or on par with all the other locations. While the place is clean, staff is nice, and service is fast, I feel like the quality is not there anymore. It's kind of unfortunate because this is the only bubble tea place in the area besides Jumbo Jumbo. Any other place is about 15 minutes from me at least. read more

Two words: bubble tea. Okay, not all bubble tea is created equal. There are two places I really like the tea, Kung Fu and another place in Rockville. It's not just about the right texture of the bubbles (which is essential), but the tea should be good too. I often get the bubble tea without milk just so I can have the aromatic flavors of the tea. My fav is honey green tea. Everybody at this location is so nice. We once went with a group of 15 people, adults and kids and there was a big spill and they didn't get annoyed and just cleaned it up. Sure, that's what a restaurant should do, but not all do it so graciously. Also they are so patient waiting for your order. I even get impatient waiting in line for people who don't know what they want. I want my bubble tea!!! I go to both the Rockville and Germantown locations and all staff are super nice. Thank goodness they have multiple locations because bubble tea is such a nice treat. I get a bubble tea and suddenly al is right with the world...until I finish it. read more

The worse part is after you ordered through phone, they will not ask what is your name or what is your order number, instead, you will have to ask for that. When I came to pickup, I waited in line and some said the order will be put in front of the window. Wait for 15 minutes and people kept cutting in front of me because their order are at the windows, I called again and the guys said my order number 19 is ready, but they cannot put it at the windows because I have not paid and I have to wait in line to come in but did not say anything on the phone. If you dont take phone order, dont take my order and tell me. That is simple. You need to train your staffs and need system to run your business. read more

The hubby and I stopped by this KFT during their grand opening event weekend. The line for BOGO tea was out the door a few moments after we got in line! Since we were only able to get the BOGO on selected drinks and the my had to be the same order, we went for the Milk Tea with bobas. I honestly felt the bobas were stale... They just did not have the same bite (or chewiness) I have had at other boba tea places or even at other KFTs! I don't know how else to describe it, but they were just flat. Usually I don't complain about the ratio of bobas to the drink, but in this instance, because the bobas were not springy, I really noticed the ratio was off. Too many bobas and not enough tea. This was frustrating as I was left with so many unwanted bobas, and my husband's Milk Tea was the same. Hopefully the location got rid of all the stale bobas during this event and customers can enjoy fresh and springy bobas in the future drinks. read more

I have been going around trying bunch of bubble tea places recently so I thought I'd give this place a try. I've heard of Kung Fu Tea before as they are all over the DMV area now. This is the Germantown location, which is kind of hidden in a corner of the grocery store in the shopping center. The signage is not even directly above the store, which I thought was a bit weird. Regardless, came to try this place out after eating dinner in the shopping center. The inside looks nice, clean, and actually spacious despite the looks of it from the outside. Well let me explain why I gave 2 stars. First off, if you've read any of my other bubble tea place reviews, you will know that I really like getting strawberry green tea (black tea if green is not avail). This place doesn't even have strawberry green/black tea on the menu, which is a first. They did have the strawberry lemonade, however, so I gave it a try. Wow it was very sour. I mean so sour that I couldn't drink too much of it. I understand that it should be somewhat sour because it has lemonade in it but can we make it easier to drink at least? I didn't taste the tea or the strawberry, just sour lemonade. Perhaps this was just a bad one that was made. On top of the drink itself, some staff members in the back were slamming on something continuously and it was super loud. Like someone was deliberately beating up a metal pan or something. A lady that was in there got angry and left due to all the noises. I ended up leaving very shortly after her because it was so loud in there. Not a good experience from this place. read more

I was told that this was Thai tea, even though it is clearly not. I have gotten Thai tea a bunch of times, and it never came out this brown color, it is always orange. I even saw another gentleman in there with the correct Thai tea color. The barista told me that the Thai tea I got is just a different color... I think she thought I must be stupid from how she talked to me from when I came in today. I was not in the mood to argue, but it is messed up I was lied to and given attitude. This is not a bad place at all, it's just that we prefer a different bubble tea place, so we're use to how they do their bubble tea. My daughter tried their milk tea and she didn't like it at all compared to where we usually go. You can't pick fruit flavors for your milk tea here, which we're use too. That being said, the people there were very helpful and tried to suggest something she'd like. She tried a slush. They seem to have a large selection. The pricing is a bit more than our regular place but competitive. The place was crowded. I can see why they get good reviews, just they weren't our cup of tea - no pun intended lol. read more

This is my favorite bubble tea store in the area. The employees are always friendly and nice and give good customer service. The drinks are really good too, I especially like the yogurt grapefruit and strawberry lemonade. The bubbles taste fresh and are chewy. The atmosphere inside is really cute. Even during a time of a pandemic, I love how they take extra care to use masks and make people wait outside to not crowd the store so I feel really safe while going. If you've had KFT before, then this location is nothing new or different. It's clean and staff is friendly. The drinks that I've had are good and I'm still working on trying every single one as the menu is large. If you're new to bubble tea, I say give it a try. Know that the ice level and sugar level can be adjusted to your liking, although there are some drinks that use a syrup so sweetness can't be adjusted. I've been going to this location for quite awhile but lately their drinks have been inconsistent. I've had several drinks that just weren't good. I didn't take them back for a redo because I just don't do that but I think I will start doing that because the drinks are too expensive for a lackluster drink.I ordered the peach oolong tea which I get often but last time the tea was very weak with hardly any peach flavor. I also had a couple passion fruit teas that weren't good.
