The tea is solid, but the boba never seems quite right. The 3 times I've gotten it, the boba has been a bit too hard or not particularly flavorful (not steeped long enough maybe?). Compared to other locations I've been to (Baltimore, New York), this one doesn't quite meet the same standards. The hot milk teas are good, though; really creamy and tasty. I recommend taro! My favorite study spot in Gainesville! Always get my go-to KF Milk Green Tea and find the perfect table to work at! There's free wifi, plenty of table space, and lots of outlets (which are essential). The staff is very nice and the place is clean and comfy. I am not a fan of the tapioca pearls/boba here, as I prefer Lollicup's boba texture (KFT's is much squishier) but I do like their nata jelly topping. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and mature than Lollicup's, and usually the tables are filled with students studying. They do also have games and 2 sofas but for the most part, it's more of a coffeehouse vibe rather than Lollicup's fun & games vibe (I mention Lollicup so much bc it's only a block away and very similar in offerings). Kung fu tea offers your first drink free when downloading the app. First time seeing food at KFT thanks to Cheers Cut. The food was ok and selection was limited. I mostly get passion fruit green tea with boba or nata jelly but usually adjust the sweetness level because their boba can be sweet (they're soaked in honey). I'm giving this place one star because that's exactly what it deserves when they bathe and marinade their food in MSG! my wife and I had two rice bowls with eel and a side of oyster mushrooms. Fast forward to an hour later and my wife and I experienced excruciating headaches. When we arrived home and after taking a Tylenol, we both hit the bed and slept for two hours. All these symptoms never occur to neither of us after eating a meal and are consistent with the acute side effects of MSG. I will never eat here again. This is a nice place to study because the layout is really spacious compared to other bubble tea places in Gainesville, but I'm not a big fan of their actual drinks. I really wanted to like this place but whatever I got just didn't taste good to me. Their drinks have this underlying floral, herbal taste and I'm just not a fan. Their coffee milk tea doesn't seem like it has any coffee in it at all, and their wow milk was bland to the point where I ended up throwing it away after a couple sips. Kung Fu Tea is my favorite place to get tea. The taste is ON POINT. It's tastes authentic, never artificial. I've had a lot of boba, but their boba is the perfect consistency of chewiness. Their herbal jelly is my absolute favorite and it has lots of flavor. I've had their matcha milk, white gourd milk, oolong milk, winter melon milk, green tea slush with red bean, and I honestly would just recommend anything on the menu. They offer stamp cards for your drinks. They also have snacks and other food items on their menu now, which I have yet to try. I like studying here, but it gets a bit warm. They have free wifi which makes it a great study place. However, I feel like there aren't enough outlets for my electronic devices. Also, some of their outlets are broken! My teriyaki chicken lacked seasoning, I don't know if the broccoli was supposed to be raw or steamed, and the potatoes were just home fries. Absolutely appalling customer service. I placed an order, specifically stating I wanted my drink to be a slush. The order comes out and the drink is in a pure liquid. Naturally, I told the lady (her name is Ashley) of the mistake. This lady had the audacity to proceed to repeatedly yell "Not my fault, your fault!" Kung fu tea has the hands down best boba tea in Gainesville. I've lived in Taiwan and watched the development of boba tea grow there into an international export. This place is the closest to authentic boba tea you can get. Other places in Gainesville, its so artificial and the tea is just so unnaturally bitter. Here, I can actually taste the tea. Aka wow so tastea. They've expanded to include Taiwanese dishes which I thought that boba places were lacking. I always said, the boba place with popcorn chicken will rule in the area. And I'm not sure if its ruling in the area but definitely generating more revenues here. I've had their oolong, slush, coffee and its good. But the milk drinks are meh. Could be better. I have yet to try their yogurt drinks but I like Asian yogurt drinks, so it should be good. What I have to say is that its way too hot in here, I am always sweating when I come in. The beepers are so loud and hard to study with. One of the seats has water dripping from the AC. Theres frigging Chinese water torture with this water dripping when I'm studying!! (which actually helps because it keeps me awake so maybe its actually a plus. Who knows?) If they just improved these things, I'd definitely give 5 stars to this place. read more

I am going to harp on the fact that the service was unfriendly and as close to rude as you can get without quite crossing that line. In fact she barely said a word to us. We came in. We ordered. I paid. They made the tea. They set the tea on the counter. I took it. She only spoke to tell me the price. And it's really too bad about the service because it's a clean and nicely decorated place. It looked like a good place to have a tea (if you like that) and hang out. But it was mostly empty. I realize that is not specifically written on the menu, but I was told last time to say jasmine for the milk tea. So I did. This place is super clean and a decent environmental change from your typical Gainesville study spot. I come here when I need to get some work done and desire a change of scenery from my local Starbucks. They serve a variety of milk teas and slushes. Apparently their milk teas are non-dairy based. (Yay vegans) They are well flavored and delicious. Like most boba places you can customize the sweetness. The boba balls are soaked in honey, so I find no "added" sweetness still makes the drink pretty rich. But to each their own. :) The boba tea prices are pretty average. A medium will set you back ~$4 and a large ~$5. I can't attest to their food since it's all meat based and I eat mostly vegan (with a strict non-meat emphasis). It does smell like the food they made here since the kitchen is somewhat open& naturally the smells waft their way throughout the place. So if you consider yourself to have a sensitive sense of smell or aren't a fan of the cuisine, you might be better off at lollicup (another boba study spot) down the street. It's not a huge place so I imagine it could get crowded at times but midday you'll probably easily find a spot to work at. I've never had a problem and typically come around noon- 4 on weekdays. If you plan to come here often, ask for a stamp card. I hear they don't combine them, so keep it in a safe place. What I suggest is purchasing a little "business card holder" to keep all your stamp cards in. This has worked well for me and I have stamp cards which began 3 years ago! Among the other boba tea places in Gainesville, Kung Fu Tea is my go-to place. Their drinks are authentic, not too sweet, and their boba is perfect as it is the perfect blend of sweet and chewy. I like their boba a lot better than Lollicup's. I also frequent this place often as it has a better studying/seating area than Lollicup and it doesn't get too loud. There are plenty of outlets and almost always find a table or chair to sit to do some work. My favorites are the White Gourd Tea (light and refreshing), Coffee Milk Tea (subtle coffee as its more milk tea-y than coffee-y), the Caramel Macchiato (strong, a little bitter, but not too bitter, good balance of that coffee taste you need with a little sweetness), and the Mango Slush and I get pinapple jellies to go with it! (SO GOOD on a hot day and when you're craving a sweet treat). The menu isn't as large, but they are constantly expanding their menu and they have a good variety of options. I fault it a star because I have come in more than a few times and they ran out of milk tea??? how does a boba place run out of milk tea... lol. They have also hosted events such as BOGO for Valentines Day and such but the execution is always off. They put on these great events to appeal to the public but they are always so behind on orders and cups are just piling up. It took us about 45 minutes - 1 hour to get our drink and by that point it really wasn't that worth. The menu and option choices were dizzying, to say the least. Bottom Line: Kung Fu Tea has best boba in Gainesville which is perfectly chewy and sweet. IF you want somewhere quiet to enjoy your drink stop here, however if you want a great drink and somewhere to chill with friends head down the street to Lollicup instead. Kung Fu Tea opened up last year in Gainesville to challenge Lollicup for domination over the local boba. I must say that Kung Fu Tea has been pretty successful and is a major competitor. There is no question that Kung Fu Tea has the better boba which consistently seems to be both chewy and flavorful, while I have gotten hard=to-chew bland boba from Lollicup during a few occasions. Nevertheless Lollicup has a greater variety of slush drinks and uses fresh ingredients in a number of these slush options. While Lollicup has this homely living room feeling, Kung Fu Tea has the ambiance of a sophisticated coffee shop. I can never be productive at Lollicup unless I have a pair of earphones, however Kung Fu Tea is perfect for reading and quiet studying. Unfortunately that means that KFT isn't a great spot to chill with your friends. In my opinion that's a good thing though; I go to Lollicup to meet with friends and KFT to focus on myself. KFT"s royal milk tea is delicious and reflects a more Taiwanese version then Lollcup's which is much sweeter which masks the black tea taste. KFT embodies more traditional herbal boba drinks such as Oolong milk tea and is a welcome addition to Gainesville. In conclusion while KFT and Lollicup are direct competitors they each have unique strengths that are useful in different circumstances and I encourage you to try out both to find out which you like best. read more

The KF Milk tea is my favorite. If you're a Lollicup native, it is comparable to the Royal Milk tea. I also tried the Chai milk tea and coffee milk tea, which were good as well. I like KF better than most boba places because the milk tea because it has more tea vs. milk and is not as sweet, which is an issue for me because I get headaches sometimes lol And I like the boba here because it is sweet and flavorful and does not overpower the milk tea. Cool place to hang out with boba. They have a lot of options for drinks. I just got an iced coffee, my boyfriend got the coffee milk tea, and my friend got the Oreo milk tea with red bean. White Gourd is the go to tea for me, very sweet fruity tea flavor. Boba here was great though, not too chewy nor mushy. Basically the right consistency for boba. You can also adjust the drinks to your level of ice and sweetness, which is a huge bonus for those that are more picky about their drinks! White gourd milk also has the same taste as the tea but with a more milk taste. Almond milk tea here is very aromatic reminds me of rose tea. Try the herbal jelly if you are sick of boba! Great customer service here though. The space is very interesting, I would say there's plenty of seating but they are so packed, which is a good sign as well.
