Is it really possible to find some "unusual" snack food very easily in Toronto? Yes, it is possible and this place specializes in selling other edible parts from duck and chicken, made ready to eat, particularly the internal organs. This place is mainly a food stand selling these parts. If you are a really picky eater or are really judgmental of food that does not looking pleasing to your eyes, you may have to go to another place. The good news is that I felt fine after eating the food here. I came to this place with some interesting people, and when I arrived, I was slightly clueless on what to get. We decided to get a couple small bags filled with duck's tongues and duck's hearts. A bag should cost only a few dollars, and should be enough for a few people to share. All of them were served at room temperature, but they all tasted like they were pre-cooked. Eating duck's tongues is not as bad as you might think. They already had some flavour, as if you are eating duck from a Chinese barbecue place. They were fairly bony, eating them reminded me of eating the really pointed ends of a chicken wing, or chicken feet, but with a somewhat unique flavour. Eating duck's hearts though, was a little tastier. The texture was tender, and I ate quite a few, making them almost addicting to eat. They already had some flavour, and a tiny bit of spice. It did bring back some memories of eating roasted chicken giblets. I don't know if the people here know English, so you may have to say some Cantonese Chinese, such as "Ngaap Sum", which means duck's heart, or "Ngaap Sit", which means duck's tongue. Overall, this is not a bad place to get some small snacks made from ducks. It's also not a bad choice if you are going to be hosting a house party in Toronto, you need some alternative snacks besides chips and popcorn, and your guests are a little bored. I would probably come here again if I am really craving for some flavourful, tender, tasty, edible and very sanitary duck's tongues and duck's hearts.

You know what you're going to get every time you order. We've had popcorn chicken (5/5), pork cutlet (4.5/5), fish fillet (4/5), braised beef (4/5), stinky tofu (3.5/5 for me but others give it 4/5), dry noodles with Taiwanese sausage (4/5), braised beef soup noodles (4/5). The sides are consistent in what you get and the nice thing is you get to choose 3 with bento boxes. The complimentary soup is alway nice and my rating varies depending on what they made that day but never below 3/5. Price: At prices between 10-12$, this is a great place to get takeout lunch or dinner.

Gluten with preserved vegetable and braised tofu pocket were both really sweet, three cup eggplant didn't have much sauce, bittermelon with egg had very little egg, and the stir-fried mustard was quite bitter. When calling to check if the soup of the day was vegetarian, I was told it was chicken broth and asked to make a note not to have it included, only to end up receiving a wintermelon soup that didn't taste of chicken, so not sure what happened there. The seaweed was great though.

Tips: - This eatery is on Fantuan. The deals are decent…read more - The beef brisket had a lot of tough parts. - The Shanghai-style noodles were fabulous. My rating is 3.5 stars. I'll round up. A few weeks ago, I was looking at my Fantuan app. There was a flash deal on a number of dishes. One of them was the curry beef or beef brisket. It was on rice and came with your choice of beverage. I went with these items: - Curry beef brisket on steamed rice, with an iced lemon tea - Shanghai-style noodles I paid with a credit card. I got an estimated time to pick up my order. This eatery is in a plaza roughly fifteen minutes from my home. My issue was the signage when I got to this restaurant. On Fantuan, this business is listed as Red Tea House. If you can't read traditional Chinese, you'd think that the place is called Hong Kong Beef Noodles, as it's the only English sign that you see. If you can read Chinese, the three characters literally translate to Red Tea Street. Maybe it's me. A house and a street are two different objects. I don't get the translation. At least the sign is red, to match the first character. There was lots of parking in this plaza. I backed into a spot and walked in. It's a Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng. I have only visited Hong Kong once and loved the food. There were several folks eating when I walked in. I waited at the back by the payment area for someone. I looked at the blue Fantuan bag in front of me. It looked like my order. I got a woman who first started to speak to me in Mandarin. I don't speak it. I spoke to her in English. She switched to Cantonese. I did, too. She asked me what I had ordered. Both items were listed in English on Fantuan. Instead, we went with my order number in Cantonese. The blue bag was indeed my order. I thanked her in Cantonese and left. I drove home to enjoy my food. It was dinner. I had half of each dish. I then had the rest the following day. The curry sauce in the curry beef brisket was excellent. It was great mixing it with rice. I also enjoyed the cubed potatoes and bell peppers. I enjoyed the actual beef brisket. The downside was that the brisket had a lot of tough parts attached to it.. It wasn't worth getting this dish. I loved my iced lemon tea. It was cold and was exactly what I needed on a hot summery day. The shanghai-style noodles were delicious. I loved the chicken, veggies, and thick noodles. I'd order this dish again in a heartbeat. Excellent! I'd return to try more items on the menu. Maybe I should have ordered the curry beef. I'd steer away from anything with beef brisket. (315)

I came across this little gem (Lang Hing Wholesale) on the internet and found that they are now offering buying stuff online and picking it up after you pick a timeslot on their website. This has made life so much easier because I can just buy online (which I'm used to doing already) and pay for everything. The prices for the different chicken cuts were very reasonable, and I guess it's because you would be buying directly from them. We got some free-range chicken for my mom to make some congee, as well as some frozen chicken wings. They do sell their frozen chicken wings and fresh chicken breast in "bulk" (which is around 10-11lbs), but that's okay. We're a decently sized family and whatever we don't finish, we freeze and it's been working out great. At first, I didn't think 10lbs was actually that much but once I got it, holy. 10lbs is a lot of food! Their unit cost for the chicken wings was like $3/lbs - you basically can't find that type of pricing in many places. The quality of the meat has also been great. I think it's even better than some of the supermarkets I buy from. That + a cheaper price and it's a no brainer. One thing to note is that it seems like you cannot just walk in and order what you need yet. All their orders are done online and you need to place the order 1 day in advance. It was okay for me, since I can place the day before and pick up at 9am when they open! I highly recommend purchasing from this local business and just testing it out. I'll definitely be coming back and buying again, even after this COVID-19 stuff blows over!!! Thank you!!

There was a customer that wanted to just buy one thing but wasn't able to because they just closed and was rudely turned away. Next, I heard the lady on cash gossiping with the employee at the entrance about the customer that just left. I understand that they had to turn away customers because they were closing but she should really try a different approach or maybe that's just the way she naturally communicates with people, rudeness!. Employees should also never bitch about customers while other customers are present in the store, this is so unprofessional and extremely rude!

The tall, slim male cashier with glasses at register 11 rolled his eyes at me, deliberately slammed the keyboard while processing my purchase, ignored me, and intentionally delayed helping me. So when I came upon Seaborn Toronto, located way closer to home, I decided to give them a try. Located on the industrial side of the Skycity Shopping Center, this tiny, non-descript store was equipped with 4-5 deep freezers and a standing freezer with a very good variety of frozen sashimi grade fish and an assortment of other frozen items. They also carry nori, miso and other basic Japanese items but not in huge quantity or variety. I had called the store before going in to see if they had any unfrozen product which I could pick up for dinner, but they did not. But when the very friendly lady on the phone told me that I could pick up the fish (this was around 2 p.m.) and would still be able to serve it for dinner, I was excited to give them a try. I ended up bringing home some salmon, Hamachi, scallops, tuna, suf clam, shrimp, and squid, which ended up filling one large and one small plate with some very delicious sashimi. We didn't even get to cut into our Tuna as there was no more room on our serving plates. I also bought a pack of very nice quality nori. The flavour and the freshness of all the fish exceeded our expectation, and we all ate till we were full (2 adults and a tween). We still had some leftover hamachi, shrimp and a whole portion of tuna, which probably would easily yield 2 chirashi bowls. All this great fish came to $96 including tax, which was an insanely good deal for the quality and variety we got. I have a feeling that i will be back to try their other fish very soon.
