    Malaysian Curry chicken on rice.
    Paul L.

The name has changed, it called "Hong Kong Beef Noodles". Inside, very old and typical Cha Chaan Teng cafe. Two servers only and it was quite busy. The service was mediocre. They don't have a proper menu for guests in the restaurant. Instead you get a take out menu. Curry chicken on rice (3/5), 4 pcs of chicken with bones, lots of potatoes. Sauce was descent. House chicken on rice (3/5), descent size chicken and green onions and oil. Food: 3 Service: 2

Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Vibe 4/5 Even though i rated this place 4/5 for most items, im still giving it 5/5. Not that the food is bad, but for its price and value per dish, i dont think u can find anything cheaper than this in a Hong Kong Cafe style restaurant. Almost all order comes with a drink, and the best part is, cold drinks are free! Usually they change you $1-1.5 for cold drinks, but not this place. Food is decent, regular hong kong style cafe. NOTHING LIKE WOW, but like its good enough for me to want to come back Service, normal asian style. If your expecting high quality service, look away. Its more like the regular cha chan ting 茶餐厅 fast simple easy and straight to the point kinda vibe. I actually prefer that, so i dont mind it at all. Overall, 4/5, but will i come back, 100%!

Price - dirt cheap. Venue - run down. Food - boldly flavored but boring. Value - high. Red Tea House has one thing going for them - dirt cheap prices. And if you come during afternoon tea time, you will find the portion/price ratio more than satisfactory. But food we ordered tasted nothing special. Just salt, oil and msg. It was boring. If you have any requirement on food quality or flavor profile, this place is not for you. But if you want an affordable take out dinner to feed your family, it might just do the job. P.S. I do sincerely appreciate the business in this recessionary and inflationary time. So I round the rating up to 3 stars.

Breakfast Sausage, Egg, Instant Noodles + Iced Milk Tea

I've been coming here ever since I can remember. This place has been around for like 30 years. Prices have gone up over the years, but the food is still definitely on the cheap side, for simple HK cafe food. This visit, got the breakfast sausages, egg with instant noodles, and iced milk tea. Everything is as you would expect, though these are some of my favourite breakfast sausages. The milk teas here usually have decent tea flavour.

Good value, tons of varieties! I tried the eggplant, deep fried fish and chicken with green onion, one of the best and authentic HK/Chinese food in the town!

Overall 3.5 star : Very standard small Hong Kong style restaurant. 2.5 Star decor.... Restaurant dining area looks outdated. Makes is feel all the more HK small ops restaurant. 3.5 Star food.... Keeping in mind this is a HK side street style restaurant, and you order accordingly.... Then food is not bad. If you try to order the wannabe fancy food, then there is no guarantee 3 Star service.... So you get service in HK? LoL 5 star value... You don't find many dine in restaurant at this price, and the portion is still pretty sizable. BTW .... They don't add money for changing to cold drink. Not my favorite place to be, but will come back if I to do a quick eat and run.

Their Beef Brisket Noodle Soup is really good. Not too salty or heavy on msg. I always come here to eat. $7.49 for a small bowl plus you get a hk style tea. Small size is good for snack. If your hungry go with the large for a filling meal. I highly recommend it.

my favourite spot for quick, simple, & authentic HK food price is amazing with huge portions; great food for great value! the menu is super extensive so there's definitely an option for everyone. most meals come with soup + drink (milk tea/lemon tea, lemon coke, etc) & the best part is they don't charge extra for drinks to be iced. i've tried many of their dishes, both dine-in & take out - my favourites are the baked dishes, sandwiches, & soup macaroni there is parking around the building so it's pretty convenient. they accept cash/ET & there is complimentary wifi. this spot is certainly a scarborough gem!

Value for money authentic Cantonese food. Most of the Cantonese or Chinese food usually cook with too much oil and msg but that would not happen in this restaurant.

It has been at the same location for over 20 years and this is my first time to try. Typical HK style cafe without any decoration. Don't expect any fancy and nice service. Everything is very basic. The price is cheap though and many selections. It is for a single to eat and go.

    Albert S.

The price speaks for itself. If you want a cheap and filling meal without much expectation on the quality. This is the place to go. Best part is other cafe they charge from $1-$1.50 for cold drink and this place don't.

Pros: Prices are great Portions are even better Cons: Appearance very old Red Tea House is the old school of HK style cafes. This place looks like it's been around forever. The decor and appearance could use some work, but this place is a solid place for some HK style fast food. My wife actually stumbled upon this place because she actually thought it was a tea house from it's name. Let's get this out of the way, if appearance means a lot to you, this is not the place for you. This place is very no frills. The floors here don't have a 5 second rule, if it touches the floor, forget about it. Having said that, this place ticks off everything else you need in an HK style cafe. They have tons of variety in their menu. Speaking of that. their entire menu is on the walls of this place. Most of the items have English on them though there are some specials that don't. Based on previous pictures, they do have a paper menu with English on it. I was not able to see it while I was there. We had a mixed grill rice and a baked chicken on spaghetti with an order of congee. Food comes out pretty fast here. What I really like about this place is the portions. They are super for the price you pay here. You will leave this place full, big eater or not. The taste is pretty standard for what you will find at HK style cafes. As with most HK style cafes, meals come with soup and a drink. What stands out is that you can get a cold drink here with no extra charge. There are very very few places that do that now. Red Tea House will get the job done if you're craving some HK fast food. It's no frills appearance might turn off some, but if you can get past that you can't go wrong coming here.

    Anna W.

Milk tea not strong enough. Congee was bad as the ingredients were very stale. Toast was stale too. Good portions for the low price. Cutter e very thin. Cleanliness: you determine for yourself.

The sides are consistent in what you get and the nice thing is you get to choose 3 with bento boxes. The complimentary soup is alway nice and my rating varies depending on what they made that day but never below 3/5. Really appreciated that. As for the food, we got the stinky tofu, sticky rice sausages, oyster omelette, and chicken thigh bento. My husband is from Taiwan and he thought the the food was just OK. He particular liked the bento and stinky tofu but the oyster omelette and sticky rice sausages fell short and I agree! The bento had a variety delicious side dishes and chicken was moist and tastily flavored. Big portion and good value! The stinky tofu was crispy and stinky, perfect and pickled cabbage was great with it. The oyster omelette was fine but wasn't glutinous enough, we are used to it being more gooey/sticky/stretchy. In addition there were a lot of onions in it which was hadn't experienced before. The sticky rice sausages fell apart super easily and the casing around the rice was really hard to bite through. Minimal seating, 2 tables that seat 4 each. A counter with 2 seats by the window. Not sure if we'd come again but not bad.

I came across this little gem (Lang Hing Wholesale) on the internet and found that they are now offering buying stuff online and picking it up after you pick a timeslot on their website. This has made life so much easier because I can just buy online (which I'm used to doing already) and pay for everything. The prices for the different chicken cuts were very reasonable, and I guess it's because you would be buying directly from them. We got some free-range chicken for my mom to make some congee, as well as some frozen chicken wings. They do sell their frozen chicken wings and fresh chicken breast in "bulk" (which is around 10-11lbs), but that's okay. We're a decently sized family and whatever we don't finish, we freeze and it's been working out great. At first, I didn't think 10lbs was actually that much but once I got it, holy. 10lbs is a lot of food! Their unit cost for the chicken wings was like $3/lbs - you basically can't find that type of pricing in many places. The quality of the meat has also been great. I think it's even better than some of the supermarkets I buy from. That + a cheaper price and it's a no brainer. One thing to note is that it seems like you cannot just walk in and order what you need yet. All their orders are done online and you need to place the order 1 day in advance. It was okay for me, since I can place the day before and pick up at 9am when they open! I highly recommend purchasing from this local business and just testing it out. I'll definitely be coming back and buying again, even after this COVID-19 stuff blows over!!! Thank you!!

The pepperoni, ground beef, mushrooms and pineapple pizza had a part that was slightly burnt not sure if it accidentally touched the flames. But otherwise everything else was good. Pineapple had a nice sweetness, pepperoni was tasty along with beef and mushrooms. The chicken bacon pizza had tons of toppings which is great but it felt like someone just tossed things on it at random. They also carry nori, miso and other basic Japanese items but not in huge quantity or variety. I had called the store before going in to see if they had any unfrozen product which I could pick up for dinner, but they did not. But when the very friendly lady on the phone told me that I could pick up the fish (this was around 2 p.m.) and would still be able to serve it for dinner, I was excited to give them a try. I ended up bringing home some salmon, Hamachi, scallops, tuna, suf clam, shrimp, and squid, which ended up filling one large and one small plate with some very delicious sashimi. We didn't even get to cut into our Tuna as there was no more room on our serving plates. I also bought a pack of very nice quality nori. The flavour and the freshness of all the fish exceeded our expectation, and we all ate till we were full (2 adults and a tween). We still had some leftover hamachi, shrimp and a whole portion of tuna, which probably would easily yield 2 chirashi bowls. All this great fish came to $96 including tax, which was an insanely good deal for the quality and variety we got. I have a feeling that i will be back to try their other fish very soon.
