Huge portions. Attentive table service. GREAT VALUE. You'll eat twice or three times from one order. Thanks Chris. Solid choice in Markham. Everything was DELICIOUS. The next time we'll go with one protein and one veg. Huge servings. A warm, inviting and welcoming place. Reminds me of those wonderful, smaller, family run/owned restaurants in HKG. The restrooms are down a fairly steep staircase. Not wheelchair accessible for anyone with mobility issues.

Needed a quick lunch and remembered seeing some reviews on this restaurant so decided to give it a try since I was in the area. The decor is tired. This the basic restaurant with no frills. I ordered the Rice Noodle with Beef and Black bean. While it was okay, there wasn't any black bean taste. You also receive an individual soup. This was ok. Service wasn't very friendly. Serving size and prices are reasonable.

There's a hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant near Markham Rd and Hwy 7 that has been a longtime favourite of mine. It's called MY Restaurant and their offerings include traditional Hakka cuisine, NOT the Indian style Hakka food that's popular in the GTA. This is more old-school, similar to what I grew up with. Their dining room recently reopened after a long period of doing takeout only, due to COVID. Our group of eleven, including my aunt, uncle, and their friends dropped in for lunch. Almost all of our group has never heard of this place but, in the end, they all loved the food! Our dishes included * Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice * Cantonese Chow Mein * Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables * Beef Brisket with Turnip * Chicken with Green Bean * Egg Plant with Minced Pork * Beef with Bitter Melon * Fish Fillet with Vegetable * Salt & Pepper Pork Chop * Sizzling Chicken in Hot Pot A simple but very tasty house soup, and rice were included. Every dish had great flavour and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our bill worked out to just under $12 each, plus gratuity. That is a bargain for what we had! I know they'll all be back to try more!

Half an order when its part of 2 dish menu. Ridiculously tough and dry!

I will not even give a star rating. Try out their take oit and when I got home, its just half an order! And its dry and overcooked.

Like Congee Wong but in a greasy spoon kinda way! Gave this place a try due to my Yelp friends positive reviews and they were right, good food, portions and prices. Take out suggested: I would stick to take out only, as it's small, crowded, noisy and has that needed to be deep cleaned look. The floor was greasy slippery on way in and don't even try to bring Stroller through here you'll get stuck. Very limited parking in this plaza. Food: Comparable menu and taste to Congee Wong/queen,but for less. Really like their Deep fried squid with spicy salt, it's just mild Spice at best. Prices for combo same or better than First Markham Place Food Court. Phoning in? it's loud here, as phone is near tv and beside kitchen, English is ok-limited but friendly and patient, just talk loud and slowly. Delivery- $6 extra with minimum $35 order Take out cash deal- 10% off orders over $35 Before tax Would come back to try the wall specials next time.

Great local Chinese comfort food, with huge portions and small dollar signs. We ordered the sticky rice fried rice/ salted fish fried rice. Both fried rice were good and really filling, but the salted fish had a strong smell but also pockets of umami. Only concern is that I'm not sure why its called a Thai/Hakka restaurant as MY restaurant seems more like a typical canto restaurant.

Okay, so my review may be a little bias because I liked going to Maydoh back in the day. There is just something about the Baked Bolognese & Cheese here that makes it better than other HK style cafes. I haven't been back to Maydoh in years and was not aware that they had sold it and this was the new restaurant they opened ( I was a little slow to the news). So, I definitely had expectations when going to MY Restaurant over the weekend. I used my GPS to get there but it was still kind of hard to find. There is limited parking in the front but additional parking at the back of the building and across the street at the Tim Horton's plaza. It may be a little bigger than Maydoh but it's still a small restaurant and was at full capacity after I sat down (we took the last free table and there was a line up after us). I think it's a family run restaurant and I even recognized the server from Laidoh at Splendid China Tower. Specials include your main course + soup + coffee or milk tea. We tried to order the NY Steak with Black Pepper Sauce but they were sold out of it from the night before. They also didn't have the cream soup. I'm sure this doesn't happen often... but you should always be fully stocked to serve your clients. With restaurants like this, you can expect a ratio of 80% carbs (usually rice or spaghetti). Hence, the big portions. Good if you're bulking! BBQ Pork with Noodles - I didn't try it but the BBQ Pork looked delicious and it was a huge serving, like with everything else. My friend couldn't finish it and had to get it packed. Baked Bolognese & Cheese on Spaghetti - Something about this dish is so nostalgic! It's a LOT of spaghetti but perfect sauce to pasta ratio. By the time I finished eating, it looked like I had barely touched the dish (but I also had to juggle my vegetable soup and milk tea)! I packed it and my boyfriend and I finished it for dinner. It lasted THREE meals! Chicken with Black Pepper Sauce with Spaghetti - A big plate of rice but the chicken was also a decent size. To my surprise, the chicken was tender and actually made quite well. My BF was pretty impressed with the texture too. Our total came to $30, but because we also ordered an extra soup and there was an extra charge for iced milk tea. Overall, it's good for what it is (a simple, HK style cafe) and I will be back to try other dishes.

3 star for food + 0.5 star for value + 0.5 star for being in my hood MY Restaurant has now becomes my to go hole in the wall restaurant for cheap eats! Generous portions, good value and no frills experience. Don't expect anything fancy. Just simple ingredients and home style cooking. Great to have something affordable in this neighborhood. Scarborough pricing in Markham. I hope they will be around for awhile at this price point.

Reason for Visit: Just discovered this gem. I don't know how I never heard of this place for the longest time. Menu: This place actually has very good prices. Most combos are ~$10 max / person. My goodness. So prices are great to start. So the food came, we got their 2 people combo with curry beef and fried chicken. Portions were huge! I never saw that much meat in a curry dish. I swear half the plate was beef. This is some high value stuff. I will say their curry is spicier than most places, probably cause they are Hakka in origin. The fried popcorn chicken came and again that was huge. I was immediately thinking of how I paid almost the same price other day at Sansotei for a small cup of popcorn chicken. The taste was fantastic! Not too salty, flavorful and super crispy. Service: The waitresses work fast! I am very impressed and they also like to have chats with some repeated customers. They recognize you if you come in often. I like that more personal service. Atmosphere: Small place and busy. Good luck waiting if you have a group of 6 of more people. Overall: This is my new go to Chinese restaurant if I'm in the area. The prices are amazing, portions are ridiculously huge and food tastes great. Highly recommended!!!

4.5 Pros: Great Value Awesome vibe Great Staff Cons: Not too many seats Decor very old school MY Restaurant is one of the reasons I love Yelp so much. Without Yelp, I would of never known this place existed. This is my definition of a hidden gem. My restaurant ticks off all the things I want in a HK style cafe. As long as you don't mind the old school look, this is a place for all HK style cafe fans. This place is tucked in a small plaza. There would be no way you would know about this place without something like Yelp. Walking in, there are a few seats, but the place is definitely on the small side. There are a couple of booths and a large table in the middle. The seating is definitely tight here. Good thing is turnover is really quick in a place like this so you won't have too wait too long for a table. One of my biggest rants with Chinese businesses is if they lack English on the menu. I'm a firm believer that you should have English menus available no matter what type language is predominantly spoken. My restaurant has English for every single item they sell here. Even the daily specials have English written as well. Prices here are very good for a HK style cafe. You can expect to see prices $1-2 cheaper than others places. We had a baked pasta, bbq pork and duck on rice and a side order of wings and fries. The portions here are very generous for what you pay. Taste wise, the food is on par if not a little better with what you expect for a HK style cafe. It's a quintessential HK style cafe, decent food at a great price. Like I mentioned before, this place is old school. The decor is out of date, some things are held together by duck tape, etc. It's a no frills approach to eateries. If you're used to this kind of thing, it won't bother you at all. Come in with realistic expectations, you will be fine. This is a place that's favoured by the locals. Everyone who came in was a regular. The staff here knew them all and what they wanted. It's got a real homey diner type vibe. We were knew but the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made our kids feel real welcome as well. Overall, I loved this place. It will defeinitely be on my regular rotation eating out. Our bill came out to $29 taxes in. That was for 2 entrees with soup and drink and a side order of wings and fries. You can't beat value like that.

Fast Dirty Cheap Chinese Food | Limited parking | Free newspaper | Thai/ Hakka/Chinese Small place at Hwy 7/ Markham Rd off on the (north) side. Serves a variety of Chinese food; combos available just like your typical HK cafes. It's okay Chinese food if you're just looking for a quick fix but being in the Markham area, there's a ton other places nearby with better quality at the same price. The floor was dirty and greasy. My soup noodle bowl was plated and when I removed the bowl I saw a pubic-hair like curly hair on it. I hope it was just someone with short curly hair in the kitchen. Also when I came into the restaurant the server gave me a long odd stare. Overall the food wasn't amazing. Nothing special. It was okay. I wouldn't purposely come back for anything.

Ordered a sandwich and realized half of the bread turned bad with mold...Which is Pretty obvious . they still serve that to customers.

I've gotten taken out from MY restaurant a number of times. Tonight my wife ordered Cantonese chow mein, Shanghai style fried noodle, Veggie fried rice and a large fish congee. MY Restaurant is very much a hole in the wall-old school- no frills-greasy spoon, borne from days gone by. Food is canto cuisine and has very much many of the same/similar type dishes you can find at the more popular Congee Queen. Prices are much more reasonable and portions are just as fair. If you are fixing for canto food that tastes great and with reasonable prices then look no further than MY Restuarant. Note that prices have recently updated and I've posted the new menu. Also, cash only (no discount - support local!)

The ambiance was casual and comfortable,…read moreproviding a nice atmosphere to enjoy a meal, though it felt a bit too simple for a standout experience. The service was decent--friendly and polite, though it could have been a bit quicker. The food was tasty, with some great flavors, but it didn't have that wow factor that would make me eager to return. Overall, it's a solid choice for a satisfying meal, but there's room for improvement.

The food was very flavourful and spicy (at least for me). We had the Kor Moo Gaeng Kua $25.95…read more(coconut curry with pork jowl), the Braised Beef Mas Sa Man $22.95 (tamarind coconut red curry, peanut, and potato), Goong Moun $15.95 (tofu w/ shrimp spring roll) for appetizers, and a mango sticky rice for dessert. Both the coconut curry and tamarind coconut red curry have very rich, creamy, and flavourful sauces. We had the spice level mild for both dishes, but that was still too hot for me, personally. That has nothing wrong to do with the dishes, but just my personal tolerance level. The coconut curry was a treat to eat. The pork jowl was very gummy and chewy. There was also a fried, battered leaf in the dish to provide a crunchy texture to the dish. The tamarind curry was equally as good. The braised beef was a little sweet and tender. There are also nuts in the dish to provide that crunchy texture. The tofu spring rolls we ordered provided much needed relief from the spiciness of the curry dishes. I would have some spring rolls in between to help subside the spicy sensation of the chilis. The spring rolls was surprisingly filling. Our group of 2 was not able to finish all of the tofu rolls and had to take some home. We ended the dish with a delightful order of mango sticky rice. It was another order that helped counteract the the spicy, burning sensation my tongue was having. We appriciated the vibe and look of the place. There were properly thought out furnishings around the space and the walls. Service was also top tier. Our waiter was very patient explaning the dish description, the spice levels, and also saying how the dish is pronounced.
